I know what you mean. There is a degree of expected or assumed progression in RPGs, and that is kind of what we already have in place here with better armour and skills and what not, which is absolutely fine. But to have the option to roleplay something else, to give players the choice of what they want to wear or wield (highly polished, finely crafted cuirasses, or ordinary-looking weapons that hide their powers rather than advertise it), that to me is worth considering.
