Staff Post
Starting immediately, we have changed the regular maintenance times for The Elder Scrolls Online, based on player feedback. The game undergoes regular maintenance to provide you with the best service possible. We have scheduled the following windows for this purpose, although we may not need to use them every week:

North American and European Megaserver for PC/Mac
Mondays at 4:00 AM EDT (8:00 AM GMT)

North American and European Megaserver for Xbox One
Tuesdays at 6:00 AM EDT (10:00 AM GMT)

North American and European Megaserver for PlayStation 4
Wednesdays at 6:00 AM EDT (10:00 AM GMT)

We will always message maintenances the day before, including a notification if the maintenance is not needed. Most regularly scheduled maintenance periods will last for no more than a few hours. During these times, we'll deploy patches, server optimizations, database updates, hardware upgrades, and perform other routines that keep ESO running smoothly.

You can't really satisfy everyone's time lines in a global game. It seems they fix both the US and EU servers at the same time so that would be very difficult to find a time that fits both servers.

I am not sure why on mondays they start 2 hours earlier though.

Personally, I am on NA PC, so I'm not playing in the morning and they usually finish around 10 am for me (iirc)
Make PC NA raiding great again!

    Down with drama!

I'm in the UK and have no problem with this time. You're never going to please every customer in a global game whichever time you pick, so I'd rather it was a time that inconvenienced the fewest players and was best for the company. There's no point increasing the maintenance costs by bringing in staff in the middle of the night.

I would like around 2 AM so they can be done around 8 AM when I get up. Then I can play a couple hours before work. It used to be worse, used to start at 8 AM so this is still much better though.

    The times aren't the issue.
It's the poor quality that produces or that impacts the frequency and need to extend

It all starts with rushing things on and off PTS which has to stop
Nothing should leave PTS with known or reported bugs until those updates hit PTS and are confirmed to be bug free.
So then the console patch shouldn't be sent for certification until pc PTS is refined. It's fine to get stuff late if it works the first time.

See if the game had maintenance every week or even twice a week like it required when it was just PC early on that's fine.

Honestly for the amount of bugs and issues, I'd prefer twice a week on all platforms if the maintenance wasn't just maintenance. My thought process is don't just take it down for maintenance.

Use those windows to do both mantenance and updates because as is the game on all servers needs both each week.

Let's break this down into reality:
PC should have maintenance and patch updates each week literally.
So that would turn out to be 4 down times total 2 a week for NA and 2 a week for EU.

This means if there is an issue that pops up Monday and thursdays would already be set.
For the other servers it may be Tuesday and Fridays for PC.

For consoles, because they don't seem to be in a position to pro-actively manage and identify bugs on a schedule to update these platforms weekly, the maintenance should also be less often.

Maybe once a week if needed but otherwise no more than twice a month.

Here's why.....it seems that the PC updates largely hit PC first and then come to consoles, so this would mean that being intentional and aggressive on PC mantenance and updates frequently for shorter periods of time would better the quality and thus lessen the amount of patches and mantenance for consoles.

It's just my opinion on how to start a strategy to get to a better place but build in expectations in order to maintain consistencies

Ppl are going to complain but if it's set and only occurring when it's set with a built in opportunity to catch and resolve things missed, people overall are happy.
If people can see maintenance lasting half the length of time as well as patch days lasting half the actual time it's better.
If the game gets to a place where it has less issues due to frequent maintenance, downtime is shorter and shorter

No one is gonna be very upset about 2-3 hours twice a week but they will be upset about 8-12 hours One a week with added downtime for missed items or newly created issues which right now are leading to 10-20 hours of downtime each week

No body wants the servers to be down. Not even ZoS believe it or not.

However, we do want a functioning game. So... compromises yo.

Nights would be ideal, but I'm fine with morning maintenance. Sure, sometimes I have free Mondays and would like to play, but usually I'm at uni so it doesn't affect me. What I'm not fine with is how these "morning" maintenances extend to evening, then repeat the next day, making me lose two whole days of playtime (or even three, as it happened a few times).

If I could play ESO without maintenance 3-4 times a day, I'd be so happy. But I know that isn't going to happen cause that's a dream and dreams Do NOT come true. ROFL #NoMoreMaintenance #GetItRightTheFirstTimePls #GetGudZoS #CanWePlayWithout3or4MaintenanceADay

I'd honestly prefer more routine maintenance of the game to fix bugs/exploits/etc. as well as balance updates and the like.

You can't please everyone when you have this many people playing, all in different locations. And it's not like the maintenance takes hours and hours and hours, so chillax

What is really like is no more annoying threads about maintenance. Everyone's wants their own thread because they have nothing differnt nor anything clever to say.
