Dominion story line is the only one which really goes through all zones. All other can be done pretty much in any order (well, Eastmarch-Rift is the exception).

Best looking is very subjective, I like Auridon and Rivenspire.

Covenant. So many great characters and stories. I was originally dominion. But the covenant storyline blows theirs out of the water.

    Especially rivenspire.

I have all my characters on Daggerfall Covenant although I've played through the other 2 factions through cadwells silver and gold.

I like daggerfall zones best, probably because I don't care as much about the frosty mountaintops of EP or the vast plains/jungle of AD.

I heard it's beautiful, what kind of environments does it have? I've been through Ebon and dagger only

AD is pretty much the most classically "elfy" zone... lots of sun and really pretty architecture, with lush jungles thrown in.

Personally, I vote Ebonheart, because Morrowind is very much home for me. The Skyrim sections, not so thrilled about (I live in a climate that is snowed in half the year... I don't need that in my games XD ), but for the chance to play in Deshaan? I'll take it. :)
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

    In my opinion...

Daggerfall is the best overall story, and the starter islands are good, but otherwise starts off a little weak, and some of the zones are repetitive. Also, I find that Daggerfall fits best with the ending (one of our major NPC's, Darien, maybe plays an important part which makes a little more sense if you've been paying attention to him in the Daggerfall story) and the current DLC (Most of them take place in Daggerfall territory). King Emeric is surprisingly snarky and interesting.

Aldmeri Dominion has some of the best NPC's, and a good beginning and amazing ending (Reaper's March is probably one of my favorite storylines). The middle, however, seems to drag on and on. Good stories, but they all blend together into wood elf mashup. Plus the jungles are a PAIN to travel through. The Queen is a noble and heroic character.

Ebonheart has the darkest storyline, especially in the beginning, and some of the landscapes (especially the volcanos) are stunning. However, the overall story seems kind of weak, and the NPC's weren't terribly interesting. I could be biased, as it was the last zone I went through, and I was a little burned out by then. Plus I accidentally went through a zone backwards somehow, and killed the final boss in the beginning, so my storyline was people freaking out about a giant I already killed. I don't remember a whole lot about Jorunn the Skald-King himself, but his family storylines were intriguing.

    Daggerfall Covenant:
Overall the best storyline in my opinion. It actually feels like you are going through a consistent story. Plus High King Emeric is a very relatable character. It's zones have the more interesting characters and variation of all the alliances.

    Favourite zone:
I liked Rivenspire the most, with the Alik'r as a close second. Rivenspire is probably my favourite zone to play through in the whole game. I like the dark fantasy atmosphere. Seeing the group dungeon Crypt of Hearts with its towers piercing through the fog in the distance, while standing on a barren plain with sharp rocks and dead trees. It really gives you a feeling of darkness. It is also one of the few stories that stuck with me after playing through it and I can still remember most of it's characters and the moral choices I had to make.

    Least favourite zone:
I suppose Stormhaven. A bit boring storywise and the terrain doesn't offer much variation. I love the city of Wayrest though. One of the few cities in the game that feel like an actual capital.

    Aldmeri Dominion:
Comes in at a second place on overal story. I like how you are in the service of the queens elite and I did get the feeling of being on a quest throughout the AD lands. But it didn't really trigger me and there weren't that many character that stood out to me, except maybe that Raz guy. It was the zone I looked forward to playing the most when I was still going through DC. I love dark, tight and gloomy jungles, especially at night. I remember walking around in the Greenshade marsh area at night, with all the daedra around. That looked really nice. Plus lore wise it seemed really interesting. A bit poor variety in zones sort of spoiled it in the end though. Glad when I came out of the forest and into the more open lands of Reapers March.

    Favourite zone:
I suppose this has to be either Malabal Tor or Reapers March. Malabal tor felt like a genuine wilderness to me and was at times a pain to travel through, which actually was nice in my view. Reaper's march is a more unique looking zone with a refreshing story line. It also had a lot of fun quests, like the arena for example. It also has one of the best group delves in the game. That big manor with the underground tunnel system was awsome. But there is something like too much Khajiit nonsense in the end. Every single NPC with a different weird way of speaking... blegh. Nothing will ever beat the Skyrim Khajiit voice actor.

    Least favourite zone:
Definately Auridon. What a boring drag. Looked boring and bland to me, and felt like I was going through the queens garden in stead of the wilderness. Plus all the quests there are either 'save this town' or 'free the spirits in this ruin'. Not interesting at all.

    Ebonheart Pact:
Very weak overal story. Didn't feel like there was one for the longest time. It sort of blended in with the other zone quest and I found myself wondering more often than not whether I was on a story quest or just some random chain. Not many memorable characters at all. Visiting Almalexia again was cool though and I also found it very interesting to get more familiar with Argonian lore. The zones were okay I suppose, but nothing was really nice in my opinion.

    Favourite zone:
I have Stonefalls and Shadowfen as my most liked. Stonefall was cool to go through with its many daedric ruins and lava rivers and Shadowfen provided a nice change of pace. I expected more of Shadowfen though in terms of design. Plus I hated how overpopulated it was. Frakking crocodiles giving me a heart attack.

    Least favourite zone:
Probably The Rift. Man that was just a boring drag overal. Don't really remember much of the story and it felt really bland and uninteresting to me.

^This exactly. They nailed Rivenspire and its storyline. The zone itself is the best pre DLC zone in game. imo.

I won't comment on the story since I've only played DC story so far.

    Best environments:
    Rivenspire
    Alik'r
    Auridon
    - for the coast, not the terrible architecture

    Worst environments:
Glenumbra/Stormhaven - far too similar, and looks kinda low quality compared to other zones. I wonder if these were among the first zones ZOS created.
Anywhere in Valenwood - this engine cannot handle dense forests and jungle, so they created a sparse one instead. Looked nothing like the concept art, and nothing like Valenwood is described in the lore. No moving trees either. If you're not going to do it right, then just don't do it at all.

The Aldmeri Dominion has by far and wide the best writing, in my opinion. It deals with more interesting and more topical things than the other factions, it's also by far the most cathartic for me, and the funniest. I've given all the factions a good try, but when it comes to writing, everyone pales in comparison to AD.

Aesthetics is much more tricky. AD is -- once again -- the best at interiors. When it comes to the atmosphere of a dungeon, and how picturesque they can be (sometimes entering one feels like looking at a piece of concept art)? AD stomps, no one else can even begin to compete. They all have such personality. Though outdoors in the AD feels a little uninspired sometimes. There are these little coves and grottoes which are beautiful, to be sure, but they seem better at that than designing an entire environment.

For the outdoors, I'd say that the EP has by far and wide the best artists for outdoorsy aesthetics. I can't stand the content, though. It's always too grimdark for me, and a touch too emo, so it doesn't sit well with me. I love the environments, though, and I could regularly sing their praises. From the ashen lands to the swamps and everything in between, it's glorious.

I was left feeling incredibly underwhelmed by the DC. Dad jokes, bad grammar (which is something that Orsinium also suffered with), uninspired writing, try-hard characters that almost beg you to think of them as cool, and an overall aesthetic that reminds me of actual Daggerfall. Though the only reason that Daggerfall looked like it did back in the day was due to hardware limitations rather than that being an actually desirable aesthetic. And there's just so much laziness as well in how they plop things down. I recall one ship in particular (the one that goes to Alik'r, I believe, or one of the ones nearby), where they just dropped down a few things in an effort to fool you into thinking there was more there than there was. Though it was just a patronising, half-arsed illusion, a few hastily plopped down objects hoping people wouldn't look too closely. And that lopsided clothesline that wasn't even attached to anything... ugh!

In order of preference for me, overall? AD > EP > DC.

Aldmeri Dominion is clearly superior and better in every way. Although the Veiled Heritance should have succeeded or Aryenn could at least learn to be tougher on things and not bend to everyone's will and whining.

    Favorite story zone is Craglorn.

I love the some settings and environments in Ebonheart Pact, like Deshaan, Stonefalls and Bal Foyen. But the story beyond Deshaan/Stonefalls is rather dull and too much drunken Nords and can be taken seriously. You can't always tell if they are being serious, actually having visions or just a bad buzz and hallucinating, and making everything up.

Daggerfall Covenant has the most boring environments and zones, Rivenspire is ok, but rest is too bland.
    Story wise it's borderline mentally challenged;
Boo hoo I have nightmares and low self esteem please help me by getting my blanket, nightlight and some warm milk. Oh that's better, oh no I'm still not content with myself and has to go all emo again. Seriously King Emeric is too bi-polar to even rule over (bi)polar bears.

Really wish they expand upon the main story on next dlc though, even though some parts felt really cheesy the total impression was epic.

I think its probably down to personal preference, but for me AD zones are the best looking, and in my opinion the characters in the main story in AD are the best and most likeable, but I think I preferred the overall story in DC during Cadwells gold, I absolutely detest the first couple of EP areas and the quests there bored me to tears
