Why would anyone ever say (add this for real money)......
Just ask them to add it and allow them to decide how

He isn't saying "add this for real money".
He is saying "You know this thing you already added for real money? I want it as an unlock if you please".

1. Crown store dyes can only be applied to costumes and hats.
2. You cannot preview the dye. You have to guess it might look ok.
3. You have no ability to assign the colors to different positions. You can choose things like "Awesome Color Scheme: red, blue, red" or "Marvelous Sheogorath Color Scheme: red, red, blue". Which one will look best? I have no idea.
First, allow dyes to be applied to armor. Then a much better and more friendly way of using the dyes would be to allow the purchaser to preview the dye on their currently worn armor. After purchase they can then access it from a dye table and use that palette once and assign it how they want.
I almost always mix and match different armor styles so if it is ever changed to allow dying armors it would still be important that we be able to assign the positions. One piece may look great as, for example, red, green, red but another piece looks better as red, red, green.

Hmmm ....I see the other comment and have reread the OP.
It reads that they are more than willing to pay for premium colors but they want it for armor and not just costumes. In context that didn't say not to charge real money it says to charge and adds in the ESO plus concepts.
Yes, I want that halloween orange without buying these ridiculous stamps. I'm a subscriber ffs.

Well, I honestly read it a bunch of times and I can't see how anything the OP said can be interpreted like that.
You know how ZOS added Dye Stamps, and how they added exclusive dyes with it? What the OP is saying is that those premium dyes added only as Dye Stamps should be unlocks, not one time use consumables like they are now.
