And this is the result. Seriously, ZOS, this is the literal worst thing ever and you're relying on basically people with money and gambling problems being able to be exploited. I play games like this to just do my own thing, but I have a problem with gambling. It's very difficult for some of us to resist. Just watch this video and see what $100 gets you. Spoiler, it's next to nothing.

I'm 100000% sure they know how these Crates work. It's why they were added in the first place.

So I guess you should make the decision to stop playing. Every MMO essentially has these. Look at all mobile app games. It's how they make their money anymore.

If you want the game at all they have to make money, and frankly subscriptions alone (even if everyone paid) is not enough anymore to pay employees and keep building the game. I think people would be surprised at just how much they make, and how good of a business idea those are.

I use to work next to a software company that makes mobile apps games. One of their best sellers was a bowling game. they would "release/reskin" a ball at holidays and once a quarter. That change alone would bring it around 200k/month. They have like 20 different games at least all with slight changes like this.

It's your choice to buy the items, ZOS isn't forcing a thing on anymore.

"But wait!" come the deniers, "I spent less and got more! That makes your data fake!"

No, both sets of data are real. It just goes to show you how player-unfriendly the system is. Gambling boxes are a complete scam, and people should get the same reward for the same money spent. That's why only the proper Crown Store is appropriate, you know exactly what you'll get and can choose yourself if something is in your price range or not. None of this spending infinite money chasing games of chance.

100$ is way too much to spend on anything in this game IMO, even a lengthy sub.the posts I see like this assures me it's only going to get worse with the crates. Let the buyer beware.

I am a little confused by your post.... are you saying that you are Deltia because the video you linked is of Deltia opening up 100$ worth of crown crates!

BTW this is also old news..

No I'm not saying I'm Deltia, I'm linking his video as an example of how horrid this is. I know this is old news, I know it is,a nd technically nobody is forcing anyone to do anything but this is moving onto borderline predatory tactics to make money. Gambling addiction is a real thing, and while I wouldn't go so far as to say I have it I know others have had their lives ruined by gambling addiction. Crown crates are designed to prey on those people. If they want this stupid stuff to be in here, you shouldn't have to spend more than $50 really to get the things you want if that.

The crates aren't that big of a issue, they can be quite a nice little addition to add to any game. Heck I still have fun getting lootboxes from overwatch time to time. But the issue in this lies in how much a single crate costs and how there is no method to get them besides real world currency. Maybe if they gave a free lootbox, sorry I ment "crown crate" there, as a login reward or maybe allow users to purchase them via in-game currency then it wouldn't be that big of a issue for users with gambling problems, as proven with other games like overwatch.

See? That right there, that right there would make the system fine. Let people earn some in game. However, that would cut into their profits and this was a conscious calculated move to exploit and prey upon people with gambling issues which while I am not an addict I do have trouble controlling my urge with this. It's an itch in the back of my head when I log onto a game that used to just be fun to me. I know what will happen if I scratch though, I'll keep scratching, or in this case I would keep spending until I got 1001 things that I don't want and those few things that I do. It's kind of why the local card shop doesn't let me buy magic packs, they know I have a problem.

I've found Deltias in general has terrible luck concerning these.

Did you watch his video on opening the new 1 Tamriel undaunted chests? He got only like 5 or fewer best in slot shoulders out of over 200 keys.

I have not had nearly as much trouble as he did obtaining shoulder pieces.

Again, its all RNG. Some will get it on their first try and others will be waiting for months.

I wish I could somehow pin this comment to the very beginning of the post so that everyone reads it first (but we know not everyone takes the time to read to understand, most of us read to respond and before anyone says anything yes I am guilty of this too from time to time)

    @ParaNostram

There are a great number of people recovering from alcohol addiction that are able to pass up liquor stores and make it through grocery and convenience stores and avoid the temptation.

I certainly respect what recovering addicts deal with daily, but these are people with a chemical addiction.

Find a good support group and find a he strength to resist the temptation. You can do it.

I bought the $50 deal with no expectations so i'm not unhappy. I didn't already have any of the items that could be won so I figured I had the best chance at getting something cool out of it. I got 4 hats, 1 hair style, 1 circlet, 3 costumes, 1 memento, the frost mare mount, 3 pets, and 59 crown gems after I sold everything back. The frost mare alone was 3000 crowns when it was released, pets are roughly 400 crowns each, hats are often about 500 crowns, etc. Anyway, I think I made out ok and I had some fun.

    Hello everyone,

This post is to let you know that we've gone ahead and closed this thread. The reason being that there are many Crown Crate threads currently active, and we'd like to avoid having so many open on the same topic. For the discussion on Crown Crate drop rates, we recommend using this thread here.

    Thank you for understanding!
