Why in cyroldol did I look at a piece of ruby ash by using axe . But then passed on it and my guild mate who was next to me did the same for him it was maple. But he also got the dust on it yet when I checked it was if picked up 6 ruby ash
Please advise as this looks like a scam as I could not see it but my guild mate did

He see's maple because of his woodworking rank and skillpoints.
While you see ruby ash because it's maxed

rentalman UK✭✭✭What happened is I approached the wood with my axe then when it showed that I would get 6 ash I left it. My colleague was next to me as he hit it with his age he got maple based on his level and also dust there was no dust on it 4 me0

Yes again because different level of nodes are instanced.
It was in the same place be he seen maple.
You seen ruby ash.
While being in the same place it's still 2 different nodes.
Also don't be that guy and take nodes completely if you go for them so they can respawn.PS4 EU DC

rentalman UK✭✭✭Thanks for the reply but as I said we was together in cyroldol I approached the Ruby ash hit with my axe it showed I would pick up ruby ash I did not pick up I then told my guild mate to do same as he would get based on his rank and as I said he got maple and dust why when I hit it did it not show dust and ash ?0

I assume that if dust is on it it would show either way not based on the player who leaves the item and in a split second his mate takes it.
Based on what you are saying the addition to the farming is character based and not there no matter what
I understand re ash maple etc but additions eg worms would be on 4 either player ancestor silk with worms jute with worms
I think this is not fare that a lower level player has a better chance than the people who play the game more often than others
I will stop winning and again appreciate your time to offer a possible solution

Erik_Darksinger✭✭✭The game randomly generates loot from everything from Chests to Nodes every time a player loots it. It's the reason why there is that little pause between the time you finish the animation and the loot window pops up.
You can see this the most when doing Dungeons where you find a Heavy Sack or normal chest and each player gets different loot.
The simple answer as to why one of you got Dust and the other didn't? Someone got a better Random Number Generated on the Loot Tables.

Erik_Darksinger✭✭✭As to the comment about not looting all items from a Node, I cannot remember the number of Nodes and chests I have tried to loot and gotten just the vendor trash loot. From just finding Crawlers in Columbine nodes, to a Master Chest that has nothing but Lockpicks in it.
The problem this presents is that if you loot only some of the items from any loot window it takes a long time for the Node or chest to despawn and then more time for it to respawn.
And just an FYI. Most of the Alchemy Nodes have at least 3 or 4 different plants that can be spawned on rotation when looted. So everytime you pass that Nightshade or Wormwood, you are passing on a chance that the next pass to that Node could be Columbine or another valuable Reagent.
Something to consider...

Why do I still (literally just tested this a minute ago) see the loot the person before me left in the node? I just went to harvest Rubedite ore and instead received Orichalcum ore because the level 28 who opened the node took nothing out.

Not at all I get all or nothing I never leave a item when looting as I play this game a lot I hate it myself when I approach ancestor silk and get a worm or a runestone with ta that's not how it should be0 -

Lootbags on nodes are instanced to the person's level in crafting or in character level. And this instancing means anything in the lootbag can spawn different items from one person to the next, which includes the spawning of this dust item.
