Is there currently a point to the existing items marked as "Collectible"? Will these be able to be used in the housing system? Are they just vendor trash?

✭After you get them the first time, yes, they're vendor trash.
If you go into your trophies many of them do play some sort of special effect, some of which are amusing.
No, they're not like collectibles in, say, Lord of the Rings Online that are meant for home display.0
