2nd set for my tank. help please

Hi people,

I run armour master as my armour set. Chest, arms, waist, legs and hands. And I switch out my monster set now and again.

I've been using fasallas as my second set. Jewellery, 1 hand and shield. But I don't actually play PvP on my tank. I just had it spare and liked the health bonuses' it gave.

I'm thinking of going for the ebon set as I've started to tank trials lately and not just dungeons.

Any ideas for a good jewellery, 1 hand and shield set for a PvE tank?

Appreciate any advice.

    Pve tank = Ebon/Alkosh/Warden.

Please also do not use armor master. That set a useless overbuff with a terrible proc mechanism.

I will swap out armour master for Alkosh when I get it

Unless you're planning to play a 5 medium tank, Alkosh would be jewelry & 1h/s.

Cheers for the advice but I like the 5 piece heavy

I'm actually more open to Armor Master, in contrast to Woeler, since I actually spec all of my CP and attributes away from tanky stuff to better complement my dps build.

Here's the thing with the tank role: a proper tank is only tanky enough to stay alive and has the rest of his resources and skills focused on protecting his team and buffing them, along with debuffing the enemy.

But yeah if you want to be a proper tank, I really don't recommend Armor Master. Just 20k resistances and 30k health is enough for you to tank all vet dungeons on hardmode. Armor Master is for those who are inexperienced with tanking and will only barely reach the resistance cap with all/most resistance buffs on it, as well as for those having trouble with certain bosses, and even then, you're better off switching back to proper group-buffing tanking gear when off those bosses.

You can actually ignore people talking about Alkosh gear until you can actually tank trials and get to farming nMoL (vMoL is out of the question for most peeps). It's still one of the best enemy debuffing sets you can get.

Ebon Armory is great for the group health buff. Go farm for that in vCoH; pretty dang easy if you got a good group. Get the jewellery and 1H&S for that if you don't plan on getting full Alkosh any time soon.

I highly recommend Tava's Favor, as it's pretty easy to get, and the ultimate generation with it is great for spamming Aggressive Warhorn, which increases your group's dps. However, Tava's really isn't that great in certain trial groups where your healers also run Aggressive Warhorn, because it kind-of messes up the rotations of that ulti between you and your two-to-three healers. For dungeons, however, I'd definitely get it. Oh, and, Shuffle is a must-have skill to pair with Tava's, or it's just going to be useless.

Endurance jewellery is great if you don't want to farm vCoH for Ebon stuff. Just pair that with any other 2pc 1H&S from any tanking set (e.g. Alessia's Bulwark) or arena sets (Maelstrom or Master) for that small tanking utility bonus. Ebon is still definitely going to be better for trial stuff though.

As for Monster Sets, you're looking at several options here.

Blood Spawn is what most tanks run. It's a pretty useful ultimate generation set, goes well with Tava's and for spamming Aggressive Warhorn. May mess up trial Warhorn upkeep rotations, but is wonderful for dungeons.

Lord Warden gives you pure spell resistance, and also procs to give extra spell resistance to allies in an aoe. Nice group buff. Looks awesome.

Mighty Chudan gives you pure resistances. It's a pretty controversial set; people seem to hate it because it can easily be replaced by activating a resistance buff skill, but I personally like it because I don't have to use a resistance buff skill with it. Useless in terms of group buffs though, so unless you're struggling and refuse to put on a resistance buff skill, just go with something else.

Pirate Skeleton gives you even more resistances than Mighty Chudan for its 1pc, and its 2pc bonus is also really interesting. Great for pure tanking stuff, but again, pretty useless in terms of group buffs.

Sentinel of Rkugamz can proc well if you run Vigor, and iirc it also does proc on self-heals. Nice resource return in a pinch if your healer is crap and isn't a Repentance/Shards-casting-Templar. Not recommend for use in trials because typically there are going to be Templar healers/dds that can heal for much more and spam Repentance/Shards.

Maw of the Infernal. Pet daedroth. PET DAEDROTH. You don't need another reason. (Trial groups aren't going to be happy if you run this though.)

Currently speaking you can tank anything in this game including the HM for all the trials (vMoL included) in 5 medium with no issues. I usually suggest Alkosh, Ebon and Powerful Assault as good sets to have in multiple combinations depending in group needs. For Monster Helms Warden can help of survivability of DPS is an issue, but normally bloodspawn for ulti gain .

Wow. Cheers man! That's alot of good advice. I can tank all vet dungeons fine now. And have started tanking normal dungeons. But my goal is to have a tank for vet trials.

    Thank you for help
