Unable to not link my account to Steam?

I own a copy of the game that was pruchased via Steam, however, after the most recent launcher update, I can't seem to log in like I used to before; it takes me right to the 'link your account' screen.
I don't want to have my ESO account associated directly to my Steam profile. Is there a way to keep those two accounts separate and still play via Steam? Or to possibly unlink it in the future?

As of 1tamriel update eso is more integrated with steam and if you bought the game with steam and have not yet linked those accounts you can launch the game without steam, otherwise you must link the accounts."The Imperials are good for business, and business is good for Skyrim."0
