Anyone know the eta for storage capacity added to housing?

Has ZOS discussed an ETA for when storage will be added to housing? If they did, I missed it. (yeah, I miss a lot)

This matters because I need to know when I need to have the funds to purchase a home, but there is no reason to start saving now if we won't get storage until some undetermined time in the future.

Anyone have any actual real information to go on for an ETA for storage being added to housing?

I believe we only have the comment that it's something they want to add.

I haven't heard or read any confirmation that it's coming. Just that they planned to add it and it was not added due to resources. Many of us interpret that comment to mean it will come in the future but technically they have not confirmed it's definately coming

Also they've not said it's a housing thing or something else.

They have to figure out how much they're going to charge for it.

Why do you think everything of consequence is now bound...amping up the artificial demand for more space?

Just to expand on this some. Extra storage in your home is something we know a number of you would love. It's something we'd love as well, but when we looked at all of the things had to get in for the base system, we had to draw the line somewhere. Additional storage didn't make the cut.

That being said, we are looking at ways to add in additional storage space in the future."

I think they also said they implied that future storage space won't be tied to housing but will be introduced in another way

They've been pretty adamant in their statements that there is no Storage Increase tied to Player Housing whatsoever.

Storage is probably the #1 thing people want housing for, like in all other MMO's in the last decade. But ZOS couldn't figure out how to monetize it, so it "didn't make the cut".

Just at the top of my head I can think of lots of ideas that this would be doable, such as using in-game gold to buy dressers, safeboxes, etc. for extra inventory slots. E.g. pay 250g to get a sack for one extra slot, 500g for a safebox with 2 slots, 1000g for a dresser with 4 slots. You can only buy once every 20 hours, just like the stable inventory upgrades. ESO members get discounts. And you can add slots to existing containers, just like the backpack upgrades. Future updates would including more containers that we could buy: barrels, crates, weapon racks, wardrobes, nightstands, etc. And if they worry about abuse, add restrictions such as items are accessible only in the home, items are bound (i.e. unsellable) once put in containers, etc.

I gotta say this....and it's not directed at anyone specific but so many threads continue to contain sharp comments about ZOS has to find a way to charge money for X....that's why we don't have it yet or whatever complaint or questions that's brought up tends to contain a monetary opinion comment.

    Realistically,

3 months is the minimum timframe as this would land on the Q2 2017 major patch. With enough complaints, we have a shot at having it come to us this early
6-9 months is a more realistic timeframe for ZOS.

There is a chance that this feature will never make. Also expect it to be heavily monetized via the Crown Store.

This is probably aimed at me, I have posted several sharp comments about why ZOS didn't include storage in housing. I'm not sure what you are trying to say though.

I grew up playing MMO's where you paid a fee, and played the game. Like DAOC. I am unhappy with the current method of providing some parts of a game, and then charging more for the rest of it, even if I'm paying a sub.

And in this case, I believe (without any actual knowledge) that ZOS decided to postpone providing storage in housing mainly because they haven't planned how to charge for it. I think this is a bad way to design a game.

I don't know about other MMO's as I have never played any but they have added a large number of new sets in the last 6 months or so and given us no additional available storage slots.

It seems perfectly reasonable for people to be asking for more storage and the introduction of housing seems like an opportunity for it.

personally I'm really hoping Homestead storage won't be one of the things we only buy in the Crown Store!
so far other than the DLC themselves there's hardly anything in the CS that you can't get with gold in the game...
you can buy a mount, you can earn costumes through quests, you can pay gold to get more storage, you & CAN'T pay crowns to up your storage past the set limit.

I didn't realize how big a deal it was to others either, but it seems to be something the community really wants. I'm just super happy I can have my castle.

They've said they're delaying storage to houses because the rest of the patch is so robust and they didn't have the time to work it in. Whether this is the reason? Who knows. If it was, maybe it would be better to delay another month and make the community happy?

It's really not directed at any specific person. It's a general comment hoping others think about how such a comment could influence something that isn't in the works.

I played DAoC as well as many other subscription based MMO server games.
I've also played many MMO server games that were F2P or Buy and place with dlc that you paid for.

Regardless of our experiences in prior games I'm just saying or hoping people would read my comment and not make monetary suggestions towards different things that we all lack knowledge on if/when/how those things may be added.

Especially in the case of storage....

I think it's also somewhat dependent on how people take housing in it's first few months. If enough people are buying houses and there is sufficient revenue from the crown store, there really wouldn't be any motivation for ZOS to add storage at a later date (monetary motivation at least). It could also be them "testing the water" with housing to some extent. Once enough people have a house, drop storage on them and both new and old house owners will eat it up. There will be more motivation to buy a house as well as more functionality for preexisting homes.

I hope people don't misinterpret this as me trying to paint ZOS as the 'bad guy' but I'm just trying to think realistically considering how we already know that storage will be delayed for at least three months post-homestead.

It was never said that storage would be added to Housing. They said that it did not make the cut, and that they were looking for ways to add storage in the future. They never really said whether they were thinking of adding it to Housing, or just having a way to increase storage in the game.

Also, he never said it would not cost Crowns.

ZOS tried subscription-required. It did not work. They did not start off the game as subscription-required as some kind of weird tease. They wanted the game to work the way you are saying. But not enough people subscribed. People really hate subscription-required games nowadays. If you have a playerbase grandfathered in, like WOW, it can work. But getting a large, sustainable new playerbase in a subscription-required game is extraordinarily difficult. ESO is not the only game to try this recently and not be able to make it work. I blame the players more than the devs. Not all players or any particular players. I just mean that some of us have been here from the start. Paid the subscription when it was subscription-required. Would have liked the game to stay that way. But there were not enough people like that.

I mean ZOS were called horrible, greedy, evil, soulless corporate hacks when the game was announced as subscription-required. Then they dropped the subscription requirement and added a cash shop and got called ... horrible, greedy, evil, soulless corporate hacks. So it seems like they can't win.

    @Dagoth_Rac

The sub didn't work because....the game was more problematic to play for many.

The other issue is TES folks didn't want an MMO server game, they wanted a sequel to play with a hand full of friends.

Then those who did want a MMO....didn't get one

    That's why it didn't and won't work
(My opinion obviously based on observations and side conversations)

All my real life hardcore TES friends are playing Skyrim and Oblivion on Xbox one and quit ESO after 3 months if that
