Was finishing up quests in Malabal Tor tonight and was doing that quest where you have to find instruments in some werewolf camp along with a spinner quest. Anyway, some guy just standing there letting werewolves beat down on him, but i needed behind them to get one of the instruments I needed for the quest, so did what anyone would do, clear the path. A minute later s/he whispered me and the convo went something like:

Other Person [OP] Leave me alone
Me: What? I'm doing quests in the area, so don't flatter yourself
Op: I'm trying to get a WW bite
Me: You're in the wrong zone, the last time I looked you could only get them in Reaper's March if you're wanting an npc to bite you
OP: Stop trolling me and wasting my time
Me: Ok, sorry meant no harm. Just warning you you're wasting your own time as it's not a case of just fighting any werewolf, it has to be specific werewolves, on a full moon, in a certain area.
OP: I'm reporting you

I wasn't abusive at all, never swore and other than the flattery comment I inserted into my first whisper, I thought I was actually being helpful. No doubt the person is still there attempting to get his WW bite.

See this is where you and I are different.

I'd have gone along with it and let him think he could get a bite there and spend the next 6 weeks of his life hoping for a WW bite that would never come >:)

Yeah especially since they were kinda rude and refused help.

I did something similar when i first began the game. I seen my first blood fiend and it was at night. So I was sorted. Only it was the wrong zone and I wasted 3 frustrating hours wondering why I wasn't receiving a bite. I wish someone had come along and told me I was wasting my time.

I've always helped players and try not to screw anyone over and not gonna change because of some ungrateful random. Someone just last week was after some mats for the hollowjack motif and I had whispered them asking how much they needed. Turns out there was about 3 others offering her 10 of those marble mats for 10k. Insane price and i told her that. I ended up giving her 100 mats for free because anyone who was farming during that event has more than they'll ever need. All I ask from them in return is to help others if they find themselves in a position to help other new players.

I keep this in mind a lot. I recently asked someone in guild to craft a green or blue weapon for me. That I would pay for it. They sent me an epic version (my first epic!) along with an enchant, AND an xp potion. All they asked was that I keep an eye out for bugs (apothecary parts). I now loot every bug I find for them! But their kindness also has made me try to reach out to others more when they need help.

The way it should be. I get some mats are expensive, but I usually find people who are into the crafting side of things tend to have large quantities of them. I do ask for mats if it's a player who has obviously been playing the game a long time, but I don't ask for mats if the player is new to the game and is lacking mats. Met someone recently who had just hit 160 and I made him a full set of blue NMG gear. He provided enough mats for 5 pieces and I just made the other two for him and made and gave him the glyphs too. A thanks is all that is required. It's those who take the gear and not a word back from them. Only had that the once though, when i made cp 130 gear for someone.

In the OP's position I do not even bother responding to their initial whisper and just keep going on my way. If they keep going I put them on the ignore list. If it is a thanks for the help type message, I respond 'np' and still keep going on my way.

With crafting, low level mats I am happy to provide, but if I do not know you and you want high level stuff made, you either provide the mats or the gold to pay for the mats before I craft them, even if I do have them in my inventory. If you cannot do either of those, please keep moving. If you can do that, I will provide the trait, the style, will improve to purple if I have the tempers (otherwise at least to blue), free of charge.

That you're posting this on a forum as part of a pity party tells me that there's two sides to this story. I just wish people weren't shallow enough to fall for this sort of thing. Too many manipulators out there to know what's really going on any more, with motivations and agendas more varied than I could ever imagine.

I just question the motivation of making a thread about this in the first place, even. It doesn't exactly look good, does it? If you were really invested in helping them, you could have messaged them with a link explaining how the werewolf stuff worked and politely suggested they give it a look, if they want to, rather than posting this thread.

Like I said, two sides to every story. Seeing one on a forum isn't automatically convincing to me. It's more evident of a toxic personality that would do that sort of thing in the first place. At least you didn't name shame, I suppose.

Forums are to discuss things. So I imagine OP wanted to discuss his experience in game, maybe see if anyone else had any experiences like this, look for advice, or just frankly rant about it which he has every right to do so

I wouldn't make a thread myself about it, I'd complain to my partner but we all know venting helps when you're annoyed with something so I don't think it's evidence of a toxic personality, just a human one o:)

All I ask from them in return is to help others if they find themselves in a position to help other new players.

^^ This is how it should be. It makes for a much better community.

All my bites I give out for free. Most times players are thankful, with some insisting on paying. I always return any gold they send, with a note saying the best thanks they can give me is to pay it forwards.

Though some people I do refuse to help. Like the lvl 10 who became abusive because I wouldn't (couldn't!) craft him a 'full set of Shadowrend in daedric style' (I kid you not!!). Even after I explained why it wasn't possible, he still thought it was because I didn't want to do it. By that time I wasn't interested in crafting anything for him at all, because of his attitude.

Alright everybody, put your tin foil hats on because the OP is obviously some kind of evil alien that wants to lure us in by telling us a story!

Seriously, like someone else said, forums are a place to talk about stuff, often in game experience, they don't have to have some kind of alterior motive to make a post..

He was a bit rude and perhaps you are right but perhaps he didnt want your help.

Consider the other side. I experience similar situations a lot. The number of times people I duel in pvp who beat me and then proceed to try to give me advice on what to do or how to build or who to talk to is staggering. As if I dont know what is OP or not, what abilities to use, what class to play, what works and what doesnt. I didnt ask for your advice. If I want advice Ill ask for it. Some people play the game for the sake of playing the game and taking their own time, its not always the most fun to just have the answer, and sometimes you want to try different things for the sake of trying different things.

So sure, he may learn it the hard way, but thats his choice, and while he could have been a little less rude about it, fundamentally it is his choice to make.

Iguess the same could be said about your post or anyone else's. At the end anyone can post whatever so long as they abide by the rules. Are the forums not meant to discuss things about the game and our experience in it? Why try turning a simple interaction into some conspiracy? Not like the other person was even named.

Does it matter if your convinced? I didn't see anyone wanting pity as you say.

Bravo op keep sharing your experiences. I got a small kick out of it anyways.
