What exactly will you do with housing if there is no Storage? Lets speculate

Housing only interested me because I thought there might be storage.

Decorating? Furniture crafting? Zero benefit to my character = zero interest from me.

Housing is a little lacking without storage. Something I would like to see in the future to make it more worth the cost - the ability to craft any craftable set at the craft stations in your home.

Also, I hope they implement a buyable or hireable bard for houses one day. I will miss the bard at the Velyn Harbor bank and I would so spend money on that.

I thought the same thing. In the process of creating a thread for it :)

It's not an issue for me, I only use crafted sets, I don't have the patience or the inclination to grind for gear so naturally I just make new sets whenever I feel like it, the advantage is that while I may lose some effectiveness again complete control over my equipment. And I don't need to store any so whether or not housing provide more storage really doesn't matter to me.

I'd really like it if you could display certain items specially ones that dropped during the main quest, many of these have nice little notes about stories and places you've been. But I'm just as happy having them in the bank. I like the idea of the housekeeper, the way the article describe it, I think I have a thing for minions.

I think what I want most out of housing is just to be able to go completely crazy. To fill the place with just stuff, I wanna be able to take a friend in there and have them go wow! Most of all I want an enormous library, with nearly 3 1/2 million in the bank I'm going straight for the biggest places I can find :)

Not sure what they are thinking with this ...less than optimal housing :D

If there is no storage, and furniture is just for show...then I may as well go to the nearest inn and pretend one of the rooms is mine :D

They just be makin moar mistakes methinks :D

The reason we haven't been given storage is that it would reduce the need for players to buy bank space upgrades or become ESO plus subscribers for the craft bag.

They could just let ESO Plus members have storage, and for gear only. That would add to numbers of subscribers rather than subtract (and also cause a mass outrage on the forums).

There's no point without storage. I'm gonna travel to my house, look at my pretty wall for a bit then travel to a bank to store stuff? Don't think so.

Is it a way to push assistants on more people or something?

I would buy houses everywhere and throw my wealth into all the peasants' faces. Then, at the end of the day, when all the actors leave for the intermission and I'm left alone in my richly and tastefully decorated interior, I would leave all masks and pretenses at the entrance, and cry over the lack of storage and friends.
The rooms will feel hollow somehow.

I expect that storage will be implemented as an ESO+ perk, which would be an ideal situation for all involved. Zeni must keep us whales happy.

What the benefit of housing to me? Something new to do. I am tired of questing, crafting, grinding, stealing, delving into dungeons, and dalies. I just want a place to call my own and new items to collect. That would make the above things interesting again. Stuff that benefit my character? He does not need any more stuff. He just needs more stuff to do. All I need is new systems that can make the old systems refreshing.

The ONLY practical use for housing right now is the dummy for testing, so that is the only reason I will be having a house. They should have added mannequins, busts or other kinds of visually appealing storage for our gear sets. I would like a housing system that both holds functionality and can be customized. If it's missing the former I don't ser the point of the latter. But I also have a very pragmatic approach to game design and for something to fit into the world, for me, it has to have some kind of impact on my character developement or add convenience. The test dummy is okay for me but I would have liked them to add more. I don't agree with the crafting stations though. I don't want Garrison 2.0 where the world is void of people because everyone just stands inside their house.

I have zero storage issues, and I wonder how much it can be solved by adding loads more bank space and improving the bank sorting system and UI.

For me, housing will basically be a personalized bank with fast travel access. I'll roleplay that it's an HQ for all my characters to work out of, and probably give them all their own unique homes as well, but for the most part it's just my new uber-convenient bank location, where the bank NPC won't be hidden by a cluster**** of other players

I really would love to see weapon plaques and armour mannequins though. That's got to happen.

I like the idea of having a house and decorating it.

The problem is unless there's something else I can do with it I can't see myself going back until I want to change the decorations, which makes them sort of pointless. I like spending time and gold on my characters appearance because then I can enjoy the finished look while I'm playing. But I'd have to stop playing and travel to a separate location to see how my house looks, and then it sounds like there would be very little to do while I'm there except look at the decorations.

I think I'd like it more if we could add any item we can pick up to the houses. In other Elder Scrolls games I'll look out for books I like (especially the Dance in Fire and Wolf Queen series so I could read them in order) and interesting items I can use to decorate. I sometimes add 'trophies' from my adventures like dragon bones or staffs from Goblin caves, but mostly it's things I think would look good in my house. (But even then I'd mainly go back to my house to drop off items I didn't want to sell until my merchantile skill/level was higher and I could get a good price and I'd maybe read the books or look at the other stuff while I was there.)

But it sounds like the only items we can add are decorations that are crafted or bought from players and the crown store for that purpose. We can't find decorations out in the world. or add existing items to the house. So a lot of the novelty value is lost for me.

    Thank you, I try :3

In all seriousness though, despite the fact that the lack of storage is a massive downturn and a deal-breaker for some, people will still buy houses for the same reason they buy pets and costumes and mounts.
To differentiate themselves, to feel special and unique, because chances are low that another character would have the same pet - mount - house - interior combo as you will. So mostly to show off, impress, and who knows, maybe someone will throw it more than just a sparing glance while visiting, and you'll feel like all your efforts and gold spent will be justified.

And I know, I will too. Seems shallow, doesn't it? But at the end of the day, it's pretty human.
At the end of all things, you'll only have the flavor of the moment and the markings you've left on the walls. And I want my markings to be great, which is why I'll buy houses and try to pretend that I matter.

I will do nothing. If there is truly no storage, ive lost all interest in "housing". A "house" where you can't store things...smh. ZOS , when you're good, you're good. However, Its decisions like this that make me wonder wtf are they thinking? Please reconsider.

I will do what I already do.
I essentially have a 'house' right now. I park 7 of my 8 vet toons there. It is an out-of-the-way crafting station where all crafting stations are merely steps away from each other and a wayshrine is only 10 seconds away. No dueling going on, no spammed aoes, no naked dancers on the counter tops. And also importantly, no waiting for player skins to load before I can access craft tables.
one toon I park near a bank to access my guild store.

Yeah, I am a little disappointed with the initial lack of storage.

But I still see housing as being somewhat valuable, at least to me. I for one find it extremely tedious to be running around a city to each of the different crafting tables, sometimes having to go back because I forgot to do something. (The only place I've found that doesn't really have this problem is Mournhold). So if nothing else it'll be nice to (hopefully) create a space where everything is close together.

Also, is there any word on whether crafting tables will be purchasable with gold, or will it be something limited to the crown store?

I spend a lot of In-game time *jumping on a rock*. In reality: I'm working on trial rosters, messaging people build info or trying to sort out my multitudes of gear. My house will be my place to do that with scenary of my choosing.

My dream for housing would be if I could access all my characters inventories from it. Would save me tons of log on/offs.

All crafting stations, merchant assistant, banker assistant, stable to buy food for mounts. Dps test dummy. Free teleport there from anywhere. No lagg from duelling and skill spammers.

Even without storage, which will be coming in the future anyway, there's a lot of practicality in houses in their design already. All it's missing is a popular guild trader hub, but some of the house locations may even be near them.
