How many just don't care about cosmetic items?

Considering how the majority of the Crown Store is cosmetic. Theres a very solid chance youre in the minority here. Elder Scrolls has a long history of customization and modification. Allowing players to introduce everything from Thomas the Train to over the top half naked armor sets. Just go onto Youtube and look up anything Skyrim and youre likely looking at a modified game in the video. Players love customization and that stands true even here in ESO.

I love cosmetic items and would love more nuance such as a wardrobe for the disguise you find in zones on PvE missions. I do think we should be able to sell what we purchase in the Crown Store to other players; other games do this and it works well. I'm in particularly thinking of the Cartel Market packs people buy in SWToR; you get duplicates you can sell. It would be nice to have this as an additional option to converting to gems for items you get from Crown Crates.

Also, on the subject of difficulty. I don't think it is necessarily a question of the existing content getting easier; but rather I think we need additional skill based dungeons et al. especially for those of us who have played long term.

Anything worth doing, is worth doing with style.

While I'm not overly obsessed with cosmetics, I will buy things that fit a character concept that I. Especially if it covers up some of the awful armor combinations we're "forced" to endure because there is no way to convert an armor piece to a different motif.

    WHAT THE F' ZENI?!

You have crown store only motifs, and then we can't end up using them for anything but noobs since BiS is monster drop/dungeon drop/trial drop (despite your lies that crafted would always be better). So instead of an awesome looking outfit, my characters look like blind men at a costume party with a mismash of various styles - many of which are butt ugly (sorry designers - they are to me) or simply look butt ugly in that particular combination.

I assume that was your plan all along, make the high end armor butt ugly so that we need to cover it up with cosmetics, but WHY... WHY not let us convert armor... I don't even care if it would require those expensive stones in the crown store, I would gladly stock up if my entire set could look really, really, really ridiculously good looking - *BLUE STEEL*!

I don't mind cosmetic items, but I really don't think I would use real money for it. I'm currently using the costume you get from completing Orsinium quest line, which looks pretty cool. Only bought one cosmetic item in crown store, (a mount) because I had some leftover coins, and didn't know what to spend on, besides from that I think they can be pretty fun at times. Wish you could get some more in game, but I don't think it would make or break my experience if they didn't have any at all.

I'd rather have artists working at ZOS doing something more constructive with their time than costumes/cosmetics though.

I think it's nice to have lots of different visuals for characters, equipment, skills, set effects, mounts, pets. Allows you to make your character more unique, even if it's just in appearance. I'd prefer though if there were more cosmetic items that players need to earn by playing the game. That gives them some meaning. When I see another player with a crown store mount, now, I can't help but think: "Oh look, that player spent 10$ worth of crowns to get this mount". I'd prefer something like: "Oh nice, this player has spent a lot of time and showed a lot of dedication and/or skill to get this mount. Not everyone would do it for this mount, some think another is cooler and work hard on that other achievement instead."

Every now and then they put something out in a game that I want to get it. Otherwise I don't care about them. I would rather be able to change how my character looks through an Outfitter, Display slot system than pre made costumes

Cosmetic items help to make my toon look much cooler... but if ZOS ever makes it so that you can transmog or change the appearance of your gear to match a motif you have... ya, I'd go that route instead for sure!

Sorry, but as a healer, I'm stuck with 2-3 fugly dropped armors that don't dye well, don't mix well, and aren't all to my personal tastes. I have to look at this armor any time I play. Hell yes, I care about cosmetics. Even the casual, non-BiS armors with some utility are hideous, and compound the "dug my clothes out of a dumpster" problem.

I like seeing all the crazy ideas people come up with in town. I enjoy the diversity that dye and hats and costumes add. (I enjoy giving side-eye to the hideous color combinations...) I don't want to look at the same 5 armor sets on everyone and see the same horse over and over again.

I only care about the CS and cosmetics when I'm drunk. I have bought so much shite on the CS when drunk that when I'm sober I think to myself, I really should lay off the drink. What seems like a neat idea at the time usually turns into a WTF moment the next day. A bit similar to that female who looked on par with a super model the night before, but had more facial hair than I did come the morning. Those crowns are only ever from my sub and if they're on sale. Props to those who think 5500cr are worth £25 and by extension, a single motif or mount. £14 is about the right price for 5500crs.

hahaha...thanks for that one @Prof_Bawbag...i've experienced a few of those WTF happened last night?

the only time I'm real concerned with appearances is when I create the character, craft their gear or dye their gear...

oh oops, I take all that back - just remembered I spent a bunch of crowns on name change tokens for 5 of my characters...

other than that - it's pretty much all been utility stuff...

I am 100% OK with people not caring about cosmetics if that's the lifestyle you want to live, but I absolutely adore them. I am totally willing to spend money buying things that I believe my character looks good in. Of course, that's actually being taken away significantly now that more than half of cosmetics are distributed by RNG, but I guess I'll just stick to having a little less than half fun with a little less than half a properly-functional store.

If you're gonna ask a question like this you need to add a poll. Something like
    1. I don't care
    2. I live for appearance items
    3. Depends on the item

    JMO...

Yes, this would have been better as a poll. My vote would have been "mostly, I don't care". I've bought 3 mounts and a few pets. I still have many crowns left from my sub. There are enough costumes and pets in-game to satisfy me, plus I'm have a very limited income, and the crown store is a bank breaker.

General cosmetics/mounts/etc mean little to me. Sure if they are available and I think its neat enough I'll grab it.

I'd much prefer that mounts and the like were behind an achievement wall.

I'm with the OP on this one. I still rock the 10k base model horse, and run around in whatever mix-n-match armor pieces give me the best stats. Granted I do dye all my stuff to a particular color scheme that I think looks okay.

But, as one early poster pointed out, I am one of the "noobs" that still insists on playing this game in 1st-person perspective so I only see my character when at crafting stations, mounted, or on the character select screen, so any appearance changes I make are more for the benefit of the players around me! Ha!

And yes I know, playing in 1st person probably handicaps me to the umpteenth degree, but I just don't like the 3rd person point of view, and I'm the one paying for my gaming experience, so I'll play how I like.

I sort of did until ZOS got disgustingly greedy and decided to ramrod predatory casino crates into the cash shop against the massive outcry of their loyal fans.

Now every cool new item goes straight to the casino and requires GAMBLING hundreds of dollars of real money for a CHANCE to get.

I doubt I'll ever get a cool new cosmetic item again because every time I even THINK of wanting something I see someone else with I feel like I am being preyed on by the lowest form of greed.

No thanks. I don't need that kind of reminder of the failure of human civilization to evolve in a game I used to enjoy and contribute to.

I do care about cosmetics, especially mounts, but I don't like how it is done in ESO when most of cosmetics is behind crowns even though I have my subscriber allowance.

It is much more fun when you ride great mount you can be proud about.

Great responses folks, love the diversity in the community. Utilitarians to the cosmetically extravegant and everywhere in between!

As far as not having a poll I felt people would have to explain their stance a little more thoroughly.

I care about cosmetics. Though I already have the stuff I want.

I have the nicest costumes and a really cute mount. If I am ever going to use a new mount is if it is a rare drop from a dung/raid or a reward from an achievment.

    I like cosmetics.

I don't actually role-play but I do make up backstories and personalities for my characters and I like to find mounts and pets and costumes that suit them, things I think they would wear. And along similar lines I like to have different outfits for different situations.

I even do it in single-player games. In TES games in particular I'm always on the look-out for good clothes I can switch into when I'm in towns, because it seems unrealistic to wear armour all the time.

Appearance matters to me. I like to play my Elder Scrolls characters in a certain way (though One Tamriel brings with it a different set of challenges and minor frustrations to overcome) and with a certain look. I want to immerse myself in the story, the adventure and the setting much more than I want to run around with the very best armour and weaponry. Some of the cosmetic items suit the way I want to look, and so yes, I care about them. I also care about their ongoing 'availability'.

I really don't like the vast majority of armour styles in the game, particularly high level ones where simplicity and honesty of appearance gives way for fussy detail and shiny, sparkly finishes, and so a good costume can help to hide that.
