Not sure price of houses has been unveiled yet. As we get closer to the release of the update, so I'd say most likely in January.

At this point, I think it is all speculation. Sounds like you will get an apartment for doing the quest, and then you will be able to purchase bigger homes with gold. My guess is that the biggest houses will cost several million, but that is just a guess.

Seeing that at any given point in time I have only had around 300K-400K I'm not sure I will ever really indulge in housing lol. I guess I have to finally join a trade guild or farm stuff for sale.

If they want to make it a grind, I'd expect the houses to be a high price.
I wouldn't be surprised for a big house to cost $1 mill each.

The first apartment is free, so at least you can do that!

As was mentioned, we have no idea how much it will cost. We know there are three sizes of all styles available (small, medium, large), but no idea what the prices might be. They could be 1 million, 5 million, 10 million, OR they could be 50k, 100k, 500k. We just don't know.

That's what I've been wondering myself, actually. I see oldbies talking about buying 2 mil houses like it's pocket change, and here I am like, "I have about 60k across my 9 characters." :/

I think the disparity comes from two factors. 1: whether you're active in a trading guild, and 2: how long you've been playing.

Which begs the question: who will the prices be priced for? The relatively small but devoted circle of trade guild leaders who can drop a million on a home without blinking? Or the much more common but much poorer casual, "vacation", or new player who have to pinch pennies to afford to buy a horse?

Multiple millions seems a bit hefty but then again they might want to make is so you have to have played long enough, been active long enough to have to earn it rather than any new player being able to have one right off the bat.

The freebie is an apartment (which is still pretty cool... I wish my first apartment irl had been free!). An actual house, you'll need to buy, either with gold or Crowns.

Well... I've been playing for like 1 month and half (not counting a few months at launch) and I went from less then 250 gold (back then i was still feeding my horse daily when i stopped playing, then eventually i ran out of gold), to what I'm at now 850k and rising 30-50K a day (and what i don't waste on silly thing in guild auctions and donations, i'm saving with a goal of 1 million for houses) when i'm not lazy, so play time's not an overwhelming factor.

    Let's speculate a bit.

We know there is going to be one island manor that will be purchasable via crowns only, as per the two interviews on MMORPG and Massively today. It is the same item and player cap as a regular manor available via in-game gold.

Let's say it is the cost of one 5500 pack of crowns. ( I hope not!)

If we base the in-game value of a single crown on the cost of a crown soul gem (10 for 400 crowns), 40 crowns (one crown soul gem) is equal to 500 gold, the cost of a filled grand gem from a Mystic.

If my mathing is correct (hey probably not, numbers are dumb) thennnnnn

    40 goes into 5500 137.5 times...
    137.5 x 500 gold = 68,750 gold.

I'd guess we'd see some gold mark up on that, for gold sink reasons. 100k gold for a manor sized house, maybe?

Granted, this is assuming there is a set value for determining item cost in the crown store.

2500 crowns for a premium crown store mount, using this conversion above puts us at about 31000 gold. The highest gold cost mount is 40k? So maybe this isn't far off? /shrug

My suggestions I believe there should be a huge difference between In Game Gold and Crown Store. If you want your house delivered on a silver plate you should have to pay up for it in the Crown Store. Because i'm not going to throw away hard earned in game gold when i can just get a mansion for $29.99 lol.

    IN GAME GOLD (Unfurnished):
    Small house: 100k
    Medium house: 400k-500k
    Large house (Mansion): 1 Million

    CROWN STORE (Fully furnished):
    Small house: 2k Crowns
    Medium house: 5k Crowns
    Large house (Mansion): 10k Crowns
    Islands: 20k Crowns

(For Crown Store i'm sure they'd cut these prices in half. Small house 1k Crowns, Island 10k Crowns etc).

That seems way too low. Anyone and everyone would just pay the in-game gold for the biggest house. It looks like a lot of time and effort went into housing, which will be a free DLC. In-game gold does not pay the salaries of developers and designers. Crowns do. So while I would expect the smaller houses to be reasonably priced in gold, I think the big houses will cost a lot of gold. Not impossible amounts, but high enough that very few players will be able to acquire (or want to part with) that much gold. Which will drive players to spend crowns on the fanciest houses and thus pay for the development costs.

I think the gold vendor costs are illustrative. Gold jewelry and monster sets are intended for end game players. If they want a progression in housing where manors are intended to be purchased by end game players, I think we'll see something along the lines of 100k-250k for a manor.

Thats likely what we're looking at. About 20-60k for Small Houses, 100-500k for Medium Houses and 1-3 million for Manors.

I expect the Crown Store to be a little more lenient on housing costs. Probably 1000 -1500 for Small, 2000-3000 for Medium and 4000-11000 for Manors
