Are there people who aren't eso plus members or buy crownes? Why?

I don't have any of the DLC , crates etc. Simply bought the base game and that's it.

Not an issue of not wanting the extra content or access to all the areas that ESO has to offer , I just can't afford it. Yes , its fairly inexpensive , but I can't work due to serious health issues. Medical bills are crazy , prescriptions add up fast and trying to get disability approval is like cutting ones arm off using a dull spoon.

    Maybe one day!

Simple. I don't sub because the game doesn't offer much for $15 a month. Yes you get bags for crafting materials, increased exp and gold (10% not a whole lot actually), 1500 crowns monthly, access to costume crafting and access to every DLC.

At first glance it sounds nice but when you see deeply the only thing that might be worth in all that is the crafting bag. And I really haven't needed it I can manage fine using the bank and my own inventory.

DLC Access. Overrated, if you take advantage of crown sales ( like I have) you can get those DLC for a whole lot less instead of paying $15 monthly (which adds up on the long run) to access them

Costume Dying it's cute but I rather wear the armor I crafted using mix styles to show off my own styles. Costumes look "ok". But they get old after a while, even with a different color.

Increased exp and gold I said it before 10% is not a big bonus to pay for. Gold drops in this game are as mediocre as the people who came up with the low drop idea. The bonus exp is "ok" but there are in game methods to get better bonus exp without paying for it.

    So ask yourself why pay $15 monthly/$180 a year or 12.99$ monthly/$77.99 each 6 months / $155.98 a year($3 less per month wow... what a deal)

Or just wait for crown sales buy a pack each sale and purchase the DLC. In the end it all comes down to weather you prefer the surplus additions they call "subscription bonus" plus DLC access and 1500 monthly crown income or just the DLC and some specifics you might wanna buy from crown store. Me I prefer the latter.

Well you see I am unemployed.. hence lots of free time to play ESO.

But that also means no income and an uncertain future making subscription impractical.
As for buying crowns.. maybe eventually but I have only just started I don't know how long I will be playing for.. will I get bored of this soon.. who knows.

Its a matter of principle. Buying crowns and gamble crates sends a message to game developers that this is a good way to make money and creates the market for them.
We have reached a point where the majority of gamers either don't remember or weren't around to know what MMO's were first like. Back then you paid a sub. And that sub included everything. You got pets, mounts and in game goodies with your sub. There were no cash shops or gamble crates. Then game companies started to get greedy. They started to make things that were not available in game but only if you pay extra money on top of your sub. Cash shops were created and things like mounts and pets were put in them. And gullible people spent money on those things creating the market that has lead to where we are now with gamble crates. Now your not even just buying an item, your buying the chance to get an item. Yet still gullible people keep throwing money at the game developers telling them its ok to do this.

If no one bought crowns or gamble crates, they would never be sold.
Each time you buy crowns or gamble crates you support the sale of them.
This is why I do not buy.

I had a guildie post a screen shot after he bought Crowns at the last sale. 72,000 Crowns! That is just wasteful and stupid IMO. This is a game and if you are spending that kind of money on it you need your head examined. Donate some money to charity if you are that rich but why on earth would anyone spend that kind of money on superficial items in a game? It just seems wrong to me and incredibly selfish. The only reason I subscribe is for Crafting Bags. Crowns are just a bonus

You shouldn't have bought ESO. You should have spent that money elsewhere on a charity or something. How selfish of you to spend it on ESO rather than helping people in need.

Because alot to one may not be that much to others. If I go to the movies with the family say once a week I could spend that much in a month just going to the movies. For the amount of time some play the game, the amount of money spent is a good return on entertainment value.

It all depends how much you enjoy the game, how much disposable income you have, and how much time you have for entertainment purposes.

Lol how is it selfish for people to spend THEIR money on things they enjoy. That is just crazy talk.

@KaiVox22 was being sarcastic because of what the person they replied to said about spending money in Crowns.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I don't sub. I pay for what I want. Game cost me $20 a year to play. If an expansion sucks or I am not interested who cares? I sure don't.

    Why should I?

A Darkbrother hood system that is tact on. I want a fun rewarding Same for Thieves guild, after 3 board, or book missions a high rewarding target. It is not that hard to make a reason to pay for it.

Second off, Crates? Really? I only like crate system if there is TONS of good items to get from it and rewards, ESO clearly does not have that.

Last but not least, Why spend time with this game when you got games like wildstar that has more content, and fun housing system. Fun combat, and good story? ESO combat is subpar. ESO content is boring, and housing I doubt they could come close to wildstar.

I was in the beta. Then I didn't play at all for a long time. I picked up the console version over a year ago and didn't sub or buy crowns. At the time, I wasn't sure how long the game would keep my interest. I just didn't see the point in investing more money if I wasn't going to stick around but once I was satisfied I was going to make an actual time investment in the game, I subbed and periodically buy extra crowns.

If I ever find I can't devote a lot of time to the game, I'll probably stop subbing and won't buy anything else from the store. But for now, it's not like I have anything else I want to spend my entertainment money on and a small sub and a crown pack here and there is pretty good value for something I spend a fair number of hours on per week. It's cheaper than seeing two movies a month at the theater. ;)

I'm one of them, But sometimes looking at everyone's goodies I feel like I belong to a small niche ...Just wondering, what stops you from wasting spending you IRL monies?

Looking at everyone's goodies may be misleading.
For example I'm non-subscriber, never bought any crowns, bought only single month subscription to get the free crowns for hist guar mount. I usually run in cool & stylish armors/weapons on this guar, so some ppl may think I'm a sub/rich but I'm not ;).

I've cancelled mine. Never spent plus crowns and just bought up all the dlcs and own them now. No reason to sub tbh. Research done. Only thing going for it is craft bag but I ain't paying £100 a year for it. Still got hundreds of gold mats in there that's all I need. ZOS kind of shot themselves in the foot by heavily discounting some dlcs.

Prior to clown crates, I bought crowns now and again when there was something I liked in the store. Now that they've foisted that idiocy on us, I'll be rethinking that, which will have an impact on what, if anything, I spend for housing in February.

I have a sub as well. In part for the crafting bag, which is very useful. The fact that they also give you the equivalent back in crowns doesn't hurt either. In essence, you're spending $15 a month to buy $15 worth of crowns, and getting some extras for it. That's a better deal than most games give you for the sub fee.
Resistance is not futile! Say no to the Greed Collective™. Boycott Crown Crates.

Was an ESO Plus sub for the longest time.. but due to serious br0kenness of PVP currently and no action whatsoever from ZOS to fix / correct / work to make it better in a timely manner, I can't convince myself to send them any money.
It's like rewarding a kid that does something terrible.

Sucks to play without crafting bag though... good thing I still had my bank manager addon setup around to auto move crap to a bank toon.

Would be happy to send them money if they show ANY interest in fixing stuff in a less than "next DLC" sort of timeframe. Not the 2+ years with broken toppling charge, continuous in-combat issue, cyrodiil lag again very much present since 1T, procsets literally killing any fun in PvP, ...

I sub even though I own all the DLCs. Really, I play a lot. I like the crafting bag (genius). And I never know when something cool will go on sale in the Crown Store (like gambling) so I stay prepared without the need to funnel in additional cash. Though I sometimes do. I seriously have very little problems with the game. I'm always amazed at all the hate for something no one has to play (or read or watch etc... it happens in every form of entertainment for some reason). To me, its a break even deal. I pay $15 a month and they give me $15 in Crowns. Most likely, I'd end up buying the Crowns anyway so this allows me to build a nest egg of them. Now with housing coming, even more reason to sub.

I sub ATM but unless there is a Dlc on the next update I probably will drop it and go play something else , as there really hasn't been any decent content since Wrothgar
