Imagine how boring it would be if there was no lore or personality... I know I wouldn't bother to watch it.
I find it boring when they DO discuss it.
ESO live in my opinion isn't the place for this.
I do however feel this should be on their site as a short. Ppl do like that stuff but ESO live is for entertainment an often times ppl are asking the same one or two questions over and over that are ignored while instead talking on lore....naaah
Yeah, skimming over the important issues to focus on lore is bad, but the occasional lore drop would be a bit of fun. But I agree the focus should definitely be on the issues and the stuff the community wants answered. And if there's something that can't be answered for whatever reason, they should tell us that, not just ignore the question.

But I did get irritated by community members asking questions that had already been answered before, as that took time away from other stuff for Jess and Gina to just repeat what we already knew.
I enjoyed it at first when it was info about the game, what was being worked on, what was being fixed etc. However, over time it seemed to evolve into a version of QVC in which the shows only purpose was to promote sales of the new dlc and crown store content. I understand that these needed to be marketed , but a bit of balance would be good. If they bring it back I would hate to see how much time they give to promoting crate items each show.
Agreed. The recent shows which all focused on "the next DLC" were nowhere near as good as the original episodes.

Maybe we should say what we liked and what we didn't like about previous show segments, to give ZOS an idea of what new shows should contain:
    • News - As there always has been, there should be a News segment every week. But it's not the etymological plural of "New" in English, French, German, Polish and Russian for no reason - News requires information on multiple things that are New, not just rehashes of things we already know.
    • Hot Topics - In which major issues and current affairs are discussed in more detail than in the News. Usually focuses on one issue per show. This is an important segment to keep, and should appear every week. While it would probably be easy for ZOS to pick something, taking input from the community of what the specific Hot Topic should be would help with community engagement.
    • Community Creations - While it's nice to see what people have created sometimes, it takes time away from other important issues. This segment should appear occasionally, as it encourages community engagement, but only every other month or so.
    • Community Events - I always skipped this segment, as I watched it on replay after most of the events had already happened, and if they hadn't, they were mostly repeat events meaning the segment was always the same anyway. While good for community engagement, this segment has no sticking power, as it's very time-dependent, or repetitive for periodic events. But community events shouldn't be ignored, as they're an important part of the community. It may be better for these to be put up on the ESO website, or if there's still a central external location that covers most of them, for that to be linked to.
    • Life at ZOS - This also got quite repetitive. While it was interesting to hear about what the team get up to, having someone just sitting there talking about it isn't very engaging. This could be made more interesting, as someone said above, by taking the camera around the workplace, looking at a number of teams and what they're up to, rather than focusing on a single person. (Although I still want to know what sort of things @ZOS_JoBurba gets up to, as "Director of Live Services" is an interesting and not very explanatory title.) If Life at ZOS is to return, it should only be as a monthly segment, not in every show.
    • Armchair Developer - This was supposed to be a semi-regular segment, but only turned up once. This is where the devs talk about a specific system that probably won't be added to the game, and the development challenges that would be involved if they tried to implement it. The only Armchair Developer thus far was on underwater exploration and combat, but there are many other features that we won't see that could be discussed, such as flying mounts. I would like to see this back in the schedule, maybe once every 3 or 4 months.
    • Ask Us Anything - In which they answer questions from the Ask Us Anything thread. I know they can't answer everything, but this segment should appear every week, and they should answer as many balance and gameplay questions as possible, but no lore questions (see below). If there's a balance or gameplay question that has been answered before, there would be no need to answer it, but if there's one they can't answer for whatever reason, rather than just ignoring it, they should say why they can't answer it.
    • Dev Q&A - Where a Dev answers live questions. This could be very interesting, and could potentially be a regular segment once a month.
    • Upcoming Content/Feature Previews - In which we look at what's coming soon. If the information is there to be had, this is a useful segment. When there's new stuff on the horizon, this should reappear, but shouldn't take up most of the show like it has done recently for the DLCs.
    • Lore with Lawrence - In which Loremaster Lawrence gives us random lore information. Rather than cluttering Ask Us Anything and other segments with lore, put it all in here. He could answer lore questions as well as other stuff. This could go on the opposite weeks to the Dev Q&A, giving something to cover everyone's interests.
    • From Art to Zone - As a segment on its own, this was essentially a slideshow of concept art and development stages; as someone said above, "Speaking to someone for 30 minutes about how they designed a door in game and then copied and placed it around the world 200 times". Rather than being it's own extended segment, this could be a small part of Upcoming Content Previews.
    • Dungeons with Finn - In which Finn and one of the dungeon designers talk about a dungeon as someone runs through it with an OP god-mode Dev build character. Scrap that format, and let's have Finn talking about a dungeon as someone goes through it live, 2 devs + 2 community members, kinda like how he comments at conventions.
    • Live Gameplay - Personally I don't find this very interesting if it's just QA Kyle running away from people on PTS as devs talk about what he's running past. Let the players discover the zones for themselves - it's no fun if we've seen it all already - and spend the time on other stuff. There can still be limited live gameplay of this format in Feature Previews, but prerecords would probably be more productive. I would say live gameplay should not persist throughout the whole show.
    • Dev Let's Play - I can't remember if this was live or not, but it preceded the above two formats and featured devs running a dungeon legitimately. This was good to watch, but would be better with community members involved too.
    • Anatomy of a Bug Fix - This appeared in Episode 40, in what was looking like a return to normality for the show, but that was in August and we haven't had one since. While probably a one-off segment, it focused on a specific aspect of development, and was a segment suggested by the community, which was good for engagement. Other segments focusing on specific aspects of development would be good to see.
    • Development vs Reality - This was another new segment for Episode 40, and another community suggestion. They looked at how players impact development by considering how something was originally envisioned and comparing it with how players actually play the content. Dungeons was the focus, but there's a lot of different areas that this could extend to. This could take swaps once a month with Life at ZOS.
Episode 40, and Episodes 31 and previous, were what I liked about ESO Live. Episodes 32 to 39 were too much on "look at all this cool new stuff!" without really looking at the big issues. (BTW, 38 and 39 are missing from the YouTube play list.)

What would I like to see? Aside from a return to something akin to the older format of ESO Live, which the most recent Episode 40 seemed to be going towards, I would like to see more structure (again like the 2014/15 episodes and Ep 40 had) and more community engagement. Bring in community members frequently, like in the first few episodes in 2014, and get the community involved in gameplay (playing through dungeons, duelling, AvA, etc) and choosing the segments (like Ep 40), get guild members in to talk about their guilds, pull in community members just like you pull in devs to talk about specific features.

But the show is called ESO Live. Being live is a very important part of community engagement. It needs to remain live, but it needs to have the structure and quality of an edited show (bring back the segment title slates!). And if it's live, it needs to be worth it. No more shows of less than 60 minutes - 90 is better for a live broadcast. The longer 2014/15 shows with lots of content and a good structure were the most engaging, in my view.

I agree with everything @Enodoc said. Please focus on the important issues in your ESO Live episodes and stop avoiding the real problems.
I would also like ZOS to take a close look at what Jeff Kaplan is doing with Overwatch. His concept for community communication is working extremly well and you should learn from his example.

Agreed! The Elder Scrolls is built on 22 years of lore. It IS what makes the Elder Scrolls such a great game(s). It is IMO so sad to see people who rush through the game. They miss so much wonderful story telling and immersion. Of course, I've been a TES fan since 2004, so of course I'm a Lore Fan.
The special pronunciation segments and lore Q&A by Sir Lawrence was some of my favorite parts of ESO-Live. I hope they bring them back.

And THANK YOU @ZOS_GinaBruno for the info. It is great news..

Right now, we're discussing how we can revamp the show so there's a good focus and organization of topics, and ideally, would like to go back to having it be bi-weekly. The show is not dead, but rather, just on hold for now. :)

I'd like to see more lore, as we currently do not have an outlet for it--no Loremaster Articles, no '[Insert Name] Answers Your Questions', nothing except OCCASIONALLY an answer in the 'Ask Us Anything' segments.

But I understand that this isn't necessarily of interest to the non-lore junkies present, so by way of compromise I'd like to suggest that ESO Live have a regular rotation and stick with it--so for example make the first show of the month ALWAYS be about gameplay improvements and combat-specific discussions - new mechanics, upcoming sets, 'we're looking at this game breaking bug related to ability X' etc. And the second show of the month will then ALWAYS be 'fluff' related stuff--questions for the Loremaster, background on dungeon design, story-related discussions and so on. If you're not interested in the crunch, skip the first show. If you're not interested in the fluff , skip the second one. If you like both watch them both.

Also, bring back the '[Insert Name] Answers Your Questions' articles. :p

I'm going to be brutally honest.

If the shows were to come back and follow a similar tone...heck no. Those shows were literally worse than what some pro gamers put on. I literally get more from non-employees in the forums than they would provide other than release dates. Other stuff was a response to something someone in the community identified where we were awaiting a fix or change.

If you're going to take and hour to an hour in a half, the show needs to literally be a continuation from the last.

    Here's my point.
In order to bring the show back it needs to be relevant and encompass topics that the community is expressing and mix in company marketing.

Let's say it began in January.
And let's say it's meant to be watched. Then it should be pre-recorded and air online after 7pm est. with the option to watch later for up to 24 months. It should
Look like a professional production and not an add-lib idea on a Friday before the weekend.

It should air at least twice a month if not weekly
I think weekly so that one week is Xbox, another is PS4 and a third as PC with a fourth for all platforms. These don't need to be 1 hour plus, they can be 30 minute....ya know....shows.

I'd start it out with grabbing edge of your seat stuff like picking actual forum hot topics and letting the devs talk on them. Overtime the community ambassadors or what not should have written portions....like a very short part.

But honestly the stuff people want to see and hear is what needs to be on there and the forums and social media are good sources for direction.

    But as is.....Heck No!

Why would the shows need to be tailored to any of the platforms specifically? The only things different between the three are bugs and the current build. Otherwise everyone is experiencing the same game, same updates and new content. Bi weekly is fine, theyre Community Managers not TV show hosts. I agree that they should probably pre-record it and maybe be a little more serious about how they approach filming it. Right now it looks more like a bunch of friends in a garage awkwardly filming themselves hanging out.

Personally I think they need to maybe think of replacing some of the people who regularly host the show with someone more charismatic and engaging. Not everyone is cut out for that sort of line of work. It goes much smoother when theres someone hosting the show thats more of an extrovert than an introvert.

The show would probably benefit from being shorter than longer too. A half hour might seem short but it does a number of things for both those producing it and those viewing it. It drives those making the show to condense things, keep things on topic more and work to make the content in the show interesting. And for the viewer, it allows them to gain information without sacrificing a good deal of their personal time. Its easier to follow and leaves them with an urge for more (so theyre more likely to tune in next time).

The show should follow a simple premise.
    • Intro (1 minute)
    • Host Introduction and Announcements (30 seconds)
    • Overview of what will be on the show (1-2 minutes)
    • Crown Store/Crates Advertisement/Review (2-4 minutes)
    • Short but important information heavy overview of content coming to the game (5 - 7 minutes)
    • In-Game Events (Both ZOS and Community) (1-2 minutes)
    • Interview with Developer (keep this short, about 10 minutes maybe 20 on a slower day or a big release)
    • Outro with short talk up of next shows topics (1-2 minutes)

That should give them more than enough time to hit on topics and focus on big content without spending an hour and a half on needless interruptions and slip ups. There should still be a few minutes there for a little wiggle room if they need more time on certain segments.

There are enough differences between the three that short shows should touch on each.

If you follow hot topics here you'll start to see questions and discussions that tend to differ enough to touch on.

I'd not be interested in the format you wrote tho.
Ideally you want the audiences to want to watch but separating the platforms allows them to watch occasionally vs all the time.
