It's time to be heard... Wardrobe / Custom Outfit Feature!

"A lot of us agree, we want to play TESO with our characters looking how they're meant to. Not in the newest costume off the Crown Store, or gear that's constantly re-crafted as we level or change our play-style.

We need a functional wardrobe or outfitter system, where we can always dress our characters how we want to. There's no reason for costumes to be the only way of masking gear, limiting our creativity in defining and portraying our characters, making many of us look the same and distracting from our immersion in Tamriel.

Please, consider giving us a way to create our own characters' identities, as other games have, instead of giving us a selection of pre-approved ones."

In my opinion this is something that -needs- to happen for TESO to stay competitive and appealing.

Take a look at Star Wars: The Old Republic. Even Free-To-Players have access to a number of outfit slots, allowing their character to look the way they want them to at all times.

Take a look at Rift, World of Warcraft, The Secret World, and countless other MMORPGs... they understand the need we as players have, for our characters to feel like our characters, our creations, at every step of the way.

The Elder Scrolls: Online is an amazing game, but for Zenimax to ignore one of the biggest things that draws roleplayers away from it is a big mistake.

SO PLEASE...

If you agree with the message, send this (or your own) plea to Zenimax through in-game feedback on Monday, Dec. 5th. (Or as close to that date as you are able.)

BONUS POINTS: Attach a screenshot of your character in your favorite RP outfit, one you would use if you could apply it over your regular gear as a "costume".

There is no guarantee it will work, but as this is one of the most important features to me I figured it was worth a shot. A copy of this thread is posted on the TESO-RP forums if you would like to bump it and show your support there.

If you don't know how to send feedback, check out this support answer:

Have to say I have brought a lot of costumes and now they are dye-able I am quite happy with being able to play"dress-up" with my characters.
    When people say to me........

But imagine if you could use any piece of gear to create your costumes.

Things like the first tiers of racial motifs for example. You can't even get those at higher levels through crafting. My wood elf looks best with a first-tier argonian belt, but there's no way for him to wear it without negatively and massively impacting his stats.

yeah I really don't see why we can't have the freedom to customize our look without affecting stats. It's pretty standard fare for most MMOs.

One doesn't need to imagine it. As the OP noted, it's a current feature in several online games such as Lord of the Rings Online.

You pay for those cosmetic slots. They're not cheap. There's revenue there for the publisher. For the player, they can put any clothing item, crafted or found, into those slots making it worth the money in the view of many.

I totally understand what you are saying.....

Point of fact, until we were able to dye costumes I had purchased, zero, nada, zilch.

However now I do get a certain amount of satisfaction from changing my costumes as and when I feel like it.

Maybe the thing that has REALLY changed for me, is that I now ALWAYS play my characters wearing a costume, I never have my armour showing..........

I do understand that certain lower level armours may be more aesthetically pleasing than max level ones.

Also really surprised that I spelt aesthetically right first time :D

That's the part people can copy-paste into their feedback report in-game. Or they can write whatever like "Give us a wardrobe/outfitter feature, please!".

Point is, people, hopefully all on one day, speaking up together and hopefully getting the attention this deserves.

Please if you can, chime in today and make this request a little bit louder.

    edit:

    For "Impact" > "Category" > "Subcategory" I selected Cosmetic > Characters > Art / Animation / Effects.

(Remember to attach screenshot of your character in their finest outfit!)

I agree, it would be awesome if they would allow you to pick and choose from individual costume bits, especially because of Mannimarco's hideous crown which clips with everything.
    With cold regards,

Even if that would be a crown store feature... Like a special token that allows you to make a custom costume or something.

This game will never have a transmog system like WoW. It's a shame too for such a good looking game.

TESO needs a wardrobe system badly. Something similar to WoW's tmog system would make this game one of the best mmorpg out there!

First of all ZOS should give us an option to change a style of any crafted and dropped gear to any known motif. Buying/collecting/learning motifs are pointless right now. This is priority that the community has been asking for a long time.

The idea is cool and stuff but, I dont know...

I think I'd be pleased if there was an option to make crafted armors and weapons appear in "low level style".
Lets say I craft a CP160 Khajiit Sword, but still can decide to let this Khajiit Sword look like its Lv20, while keeping the CP160 stats.

    That and im happy already.

    I support this.

As a crafter, I always thought it was a shame that the cool looking styles I'd get as a lower level would be unusable at later levels. I think this is a common feature in most MMOs (at least in the ones I've played), and it not only allows us to reuse the awesome graphic assets of the lower levels but it makes crafting feel useful at higher levels (since the best gear comes from drops).

Personally I have one quibe with all the "wardrobe" systems - that inevitably people will dash into combat with the protection of full plate but the visuals of belly dancers.
And the roleplayer in me really, really hates that.
And yeah, I wish that all such costumes would automatically unequip like disguises when in combat.

An armor transmogrification system on the other hand, that can make your endgame set any armor appereance, including low-level pieces... (especially if that included low level blade metal colors...) that is something I would want, a lot. It would make a nifty perk for master crafters...

I so wish I could have my sorcerer in a robe with a hood, but crafted sets are not good enough, dropped sets are mismatched and the only costume that looks like that (Mage's guild robes) is no longer in the store. It's such a simple thing to have a mage look like a typical one, but it's basically impossible here.

This is to say nothing of the goofy primary colours that end-game weapons are locked into.

They look like they were forged from crayons in an Easy-Bake Oven.

I would have to believe that the game engine is not capable of allowing us to do this, or I can't imagine why this is not already in the game.

I would actually buy things on the crown store if we could pick and choose items and PREVIEW before hand what we were going to look like.

Although I believe many RP'ers will be in for a shock, with all the people running round in their pants or skimpest outfits possible.

Yes, yes, and yes, I am totally behind this suggestion.

Here is the dilemma . . . it did not take long for ZOS to realize that they could make a profit of of fashion and personalized poses/stances. ZOS needs to strike a balance with things that they offer in the crown store and they definitely need to give players more tools to customize their appearance. I mean part of the evolution of Elder Scrolls is the sense of immersion and customization that comes along with it. Skyrim still weighs heavily on people's minds especially with mods that were added, ZOS has yet to capitalize on some of these features and translate them well to the MMO world.

This is a topic very close to my heart.

To me, the simple, honest, organic appearance of the Argonian maple stave, the rudimentary look of an Argonian iron dagger or the muted, understated armours that are the Khajiit or Bosmer homespun robes have some of the very best aesthetics to someone who likes their characters to look unassuming. Yet in order to play the game as intended be competitive, these charming, shine-free items must eventually be discarded for higher end gear, reserved it seems for non-combat scenarios. This is such a waste.

Apart from one or two items, I genuinely dislike the overly-complicated, fussy, sparkly appearance of many of the motifs. Yes, costumes can sometimes offer an alternative appearance to hide ugly-but-necessary armour, but then costume availability in the Crown Store is often limited. And no, I don't intend to buy every costume in the hope that some day I may find a use for it. There is no way to disguise weaponry in the same way, of course.

As a roleplayer, I find much more satisfaction using one, maybe two, weapons throughout a game than having to repeatedly change, upgrade or whatever to something else. I know this is silly - the ramblings of a sentimental old fool perhaps - but I felt like that iron dagger I crafted early on in my time playing Skyrim meant something. I carried it with me pretty much all the time and used it as often as I could. It was my main weapon. Similarly, finding a particular axe in Oblivion and allowing me to use it from low levels right through to the end.

Customisation in ESO doesn't always have to be in one direction. Let us retain the appearance of lower level items in some way whilst allowing us to be 'competitive'. Let us create our characters with true flexibility to aid roleplay. I'm not asking for anything new, I just don't want to see the old stuff disappear or become redundant.

I kind of disagree with this mostly because rpgs are suppose to make you feel like you start in rags and gear looks better the higher level you are, however at endgame it is understandable.
