Why isn't ESO Plus a month instead of 30 days?

Why isn't ESO Plus a month instead of 30 days? To my knowledge months are either 30 or 31 days? Is there not true for everywhere? Is it wrong for me to want to pay for something they same time each month instead progressively one day earlier? We can do so for netflix, hulu plus, xbox live and god knows what else. So here I am asking why isn't it they same. Maybe my question seems petty or cheap, but seems kinda scam like from a company I love so much.

~but I am just saying maybe this why WOW MMO 2016?

The page you linked tells me absolutely nothing about the day of the month when WoW charges for subscription, but thanks for the advert, I guess.

It doesn't really make that much of a difference, but it would make it easier for billing because there is no abiguity in it. Imagine if subscriptions ran to the exact same day one month ahead. Some months youd get 30 days, some months you'd get 31. February rolls around and you get 28. The potential headache lies in if you subscribe on the 29th, 30th, or 31st. What do you do, from the billers point of view, if the next month doesn't have that day?

If you give someone 30 days that ambiguity goes away entirely, and it is still a good approximation for a month. In an entire year you'll lose only about 5 days at $0.50 day for a total of $2.50 with the ESO monthly subscription, less for 3 or 6 month plans. I'd venture a guess that many other companies define a month to be 30 days as well and just call it that for convenience.

    Standard practice for subscriptions.

It would be nice if it renewed on a specific date, every month, but that would require someone to expend effort on a revenue negative activity (meaning spending money and resources on something that they can't charge for) which means it'll never happen.

Not in my experience, no. Every monthly subscription I've ever had - for games and otherwise - has used calendar day of the month.

Though I don't have any problem with a 30 day scheme.

Interestingly enough, mine has been the opposite, for the most part. I've always disliked the date creep inherent in the 30 day model, but it's never really been a huge issue.

It's always been 30 days in any game I've ever played, along with discounts for 60, 90 and 180 days in many cases.

I can just imagine the flood of support tickets submitted by players feeling short-changed in February if they paid by the calendar month - and yes, despite all the denials that will be forthcoming, we all know it would happen  !

I really wish it was on a set day as I have had to cancel my subscription when it has came twice in the same calendar month... when you are on a fixed income that comes in on a specific date, you have a fluctuating date without bouncing the checks.

Believe it or not, it doesn't even mention if that month is 30 days or a calendar month in the description. When i see the word month, I assume it's a calendar month, but after reading this, I have no idea as I've never kept proper tabs on it.

So you want to pay a full month for only 28 days?

In the end the average days to a month are 30.4 so the difference is minimal.

Additionally, it seems to be the norm. Unsure about your comment about WoW since that MMO is a dinosaur that is probably popular because it can be played on a potato..

If you were truly comparing ESO to WoW, guess the next suggestion is put ESO on an ancient engine with cartoon graphics so more can play it.

You're right it doesn't say but I'm positive my payment comes out on the same day each month and I definitely always get my crown allowance on the 2nd.

As an extra, does it annoy anyone else that 3 months costs more than 1? For UK at least it's £9.99 for 1 month or £29.99 for 3. Only 2p in it to be fair butility surely it should be a better deal, not worse!

@lillybit That's why I only pay per month rather than opt for the 3 months option or buy 3 one month subs in one go. Whilst 2p is, well, only 2p it's silly it's still the more expensive option.

Yes, because everyone knows that people couldn't possibly discuss trivial *** relating to a game or something equally inane whilst having serious issues/problems elsewhere in their life. What are you wanting to hear that I lost both my parents and a brother in a serious car accident when i was young or that my nephew is currently fighting leukaemia, but here we are discussing whether or not 2p is worth the extra hassle or an extra day is worth the hassle?

Mmm... a very good question indeed. An average year last 365.25 days, divided by 12 months results in an average duration of 30.44 days. Zenimax cuts us short for 5 days, including all the downtime brings this up to at least a whole month. Ok, that might be a little exaggerated but I think we have a case for compensation. How about a few of those crown crates Zenimax? I always wondered what was inside them.

Actually, I noticed this as well, and only after I had subscribed. This is false advertising. You advertise it as one month, so I expect to be able to play untill the 26th of July, not the 24th.

This shows bad morals. But then again, for the first time in months I logged in and I now see you sell Skyshards in the Store... so what morals? Right?

If they charged monthly either it would have to be a variable charge which is more trouble than it's worth, or the players who stress out over the difference between a month and 30 days would be stressing out over being charged the same for February that they're charged for July.

It's clearly stated to be for 30 days or multiples of 30 days on the website. The only reference to months is in the price when it says e.g. £8.99/month rather than £8.99/30 days, but it isn't remotely false or confusing given the size of the lettering and the further indication that it auto-renews every 30 days.

It's only off by 5 1/4 days for a year. So if you just pay the monthly rate it's $2.62 extra.

Though if you buy the "365" day sub you only get cheated out of a day every 4 years. I wonder if on leap years they will rename it to 366 day sub.

First off, Paying by the days means you're not "Cut Off" from any days except those caused by down times. You're not paying for a year's subscription when you pay for 360 days. You're paying for 360 days. Period. Where's your loss? Now if you wanna quibble about time lost due to down time, that's a different kettle of fish. But you're not being cut off from any days paying with the current model.
