Race change token issue...customers should be able to choose any race anywhere...

Hello

Today I bought a very expensive race change token (3000 crowns) but, when I went to apply it to one
of my characters I got a message that it said that I need it to get the "any race any alliance upgrade".
I believe it is not fair that Zenimax is not telling its customers that they can only change their race
within the alliance they originally had chosen when buying that token. Also, it seems to me that with
"One Tamriel" that should not be the case any longer as ESO has become an open world for everyone
to explore at any level in any alliance.

Ticket: 161202-000092

Sincerely,

Atherol

There was an article in regards to this stuff back when Update 11 was rolled out.

Race Change Tokens: These tokens grant you everything the Appearance Change Tokens do, plus the ability to change one character's race to one available for that character and account. Those that have the Explorer's Pack will be able to choose any race from any alliance; otherwise, you can choose any race from your chosen alliance. You'll be able to purchase one Race Change Token for 3000 crowns.

This has been the situation since day one of PC release.

If you don't have "any race, any alliance", your racial selections are limited. The token itself changes nothing.

    No. Just no.

It wouldn't be fair to those that paid for that option to just hand it out for free now.

If you want any race-any alliance, pay for the Adventurer pack for 1900 crowns.

    Hi,

Yes, it will be FAIR as the game has been continuously changing. For example, I could not
play anywhere else but on my alliance territory and a couple of neutral places till I reached level 50.
Now, you can go anywhere and play with anyone in any place at any level and the change is good
(sure it was unfair to a lot of us that had to go through it) and I agree that it has made it for a better
game soI have accepted/understood the change.

    Best,

    Atherol

Sorry you have buyers remorse, though if you're willing to drop $30 on a Race Chance, then I think you can let loose another $19 on the Adventurer's Pack.

No it wont be fair. Buy adventurer pack or be limited to your choosen alliance, simple and fair. I dont see any reason why someone without adv pack should be able to choose between any race? Where is this "unfairness"? Because it cost 3k crowns? Someone with adv pack needs to pay the same amount + he paid almost 2k earlier for adv pack. If you wouldnt be able to buy adv pack we could discuss, but you can! So where is the problem?
I'm done with this game because of ZOS pushing us into Vengeance, because they don't know how to fix Cyrodiil.

One Tamriel doesn't really have any bearing on this. We should always have been able to play any race in any alliance right from the start, this isn't a new notion that was raised by One Tamriel. I fully support the inclusion of this feature in the base game - but I disagree that Zenimax is being unfair. Every customer knows what racial restrictions are or aren't placed on their account, the Adventurer's Pack is still offered for sale and there's no mention anywhere that buying a race change token bypasses it, so you had no reason to assume it did. If you had doubts, you should have made your research. That said, it would be useful if Zenimax also stated it clearly in the token's description so we could avoid these situations in the future.

    Hi,

Yes, that is what it really needs to be done by Zenimax. I did not know as many others players that one of those "packs"
would allow me to play in other alliances and would it be needed with that new token. Nevertheless, at 3000 crowns it is
already a very expensive proposition if we're going to add the adventurer pack it will be another 2000 crowns, which is awfully expensive to say the least. Zenimax, should do a bundle like with race and name change.

So you should get something for free that others paid for? If I get a race change I can pick any race because I paid extra, why should you get it cheaper?

I didn't even pay for it, I got it free with my pre-order. But even so, I'd see it like I see DLC sales: people can get them cheaper than I did, but I enjoyed them for much longer, so we're even. I don't mind the Gold Edition with four DLC bundled for the price of one game, I wouldn't mind adding 'any race, any alliance' token to that bundle.

    Hi,

I'm still waiting for a reply to my ticket: 161202-000092 for this issue. ZOZ Customer service is
very, very slow. I had a problem with the undaunted chests not being able to open them and loosing
a gold key to the netherworld of cyberspace and they sent me the generic answer to which I replied
immediately and today after more than a week of my original complaint I got another generic
reply which as you can see is not very helpful:

No. race change token should only allow one to change to a race one already has access to.

The addition to be able to play any race in any alliance isn't that much and especially so for anyone willing to pay for race change.

Agree. Considering it is really expensive peopel using it should be able to use any race any alliance for the charactee the token is used for. It is still way more expensive and less valueable than the adventure pack. Besides race restrictions doesn't really matter anymore outside of PvP.

(Before anyone says anythig own the adventure pack and I would never use a race change even if it was free. I just feel like with the cost it should include a exclution to the limitations)

Race change would be far more interesting as a quest, of course, with RNG tossed in so that sometimes you get it wrong.

    Hi,

Yes, hopefully ZOZ will add to the tooltip in that race token changer that you can
only change race in your own alliance and if you wanna do otherwise you need an
extra pack to do it. I believe that a better solution will be to do a bundle or to just
allow to change to any race in any alliance with that token as it is already quite
    expensive.

    Sincerely

Fairly certain it says a something along the lines of able to change to any race available to you. Maybe I am off since I don't study it. But I think it says something along those lines.

    This

If you want any race/any alliance pay for it, period. The cost of the token has nothing to do with any race/any alliance.
They are completely separate items. The best they can do is refund you for the race change token barring a bundle of one race token with Any race/any alliance for 4500 crowns or something.
I agree the description could be more clear.

    1) Working as intended.
    2) Tooltip may need to be clearer to avoid confusion.
    3) You get what you pay for. You paid for a standard race change, not access to all of them.
    4) Working as intended.

thanks for the warning about this! I had no idea there was this restriction.

When I was considering to buy a race change, this is what I did. I opened the crown store, opened the category for race change, saw the token and almost purchased it but after seeing the price reconsidered.
I never once thought to read the fine print.
Its a race change token, very self explanatory.
It would have never occurred to me that further research was needed before purchasing.
I would have just clicked the purchase button and then had the same problem the OP had.
