Hmm. I am 160 and I use that bounce back skill. Morphed it into a self heal, critical for pve. I haven't run dungeons yet though. Should I not use it in groups?
I haven't trained in dw yet (levelled it, just haven't put skills points in and practiced) so my self heals are limited to that (bounce back) and potions pretty much atm.

Don't try to help people who don't want or need to be helped.
Not everyone wants to play the way you play (i.e. nuke down mobs efficiently). Play and let play.
I really wonder if some people's greatest fun in this game is to judge others (and call it "helping", and write about it on forums on top of that).
That "awful bow skill" is called Bombard, and my stamblade (also a cute little wood elf!) used it too for a long time! It's quite nice for solo playing, but not useful in group dungeons. Doesn't do much damage, pushes the mobs away from you, wastes a skill slot, and you have a healer for heals.
Oh yeah, and I used Agony too, to snare the strongest mob in the usual three-mob groups you meet overland.

Sometimes there's people that are so new to playing computer games it's cute and sad.
I ran into a poor tiny bosmer just now. Dying horribly to 2 of those pirhana flower things by a wayshrine. Skills uses: lots of bow light attacks, agony (I had to log on a NB to see the name of this skill, I forgot not just mobs can cast this), entropy (!?) and that awful bow skill that bounces enemies back away from you I think it's called "please kick me from group immediately." Poor little thing. So that's one stamina skill slotted on a full medium armor toon.
At first I tried to talk to her and offer to craft some set armor for free since despite being CP 140 or so it was clearly mismatched stuff picked up off the ground. Didn't appear to notice I was talking to her. Thought I'd at least make the offer.
She ended up in the dungeon I happened to be doing a daily in so I invited her to Group. Never did seem to realize I was chatting with her, despite addressing her by name. In Group chat. No self heals. Aggroed basically anything and everything without seeming pattern of direction. I told her if she ever notices that I'm talking to her to /w me sometime and we could adventure together. I love people like that. I wonder if she's ever once talked to anyone in-game? So cute.

Sounds like a 10 years old child, that uses the account of her father/mother.

Paradoxical, you might think with it being an MMO, but we do exist and what might you might see as a friendly offer of help can set all sorts of "OMG who is this guy and what does he want is he judging me oh **** I'd better get the hell out of here before I look like a stupid noob" alarm bells ringing for us shy folks. Extroverts would sometimes do well to remember that before barging in and offering to randomly group.
Not saying you were being pushy though, and the fact that she accepted your group invite makes me think that maybe it was a non-English speaker or someone's kid who has been told not to talk to strangers.

Were you raised on a diet of Ayn Rand and Reaganomics?
I remember being like this person when the game released, did my first pug trial in craglorn, I will never forget going in with heavy armor and 2 hander buildsSometimes there's people that are so new to playing computer games it's cute and sad.

I sort of wish I still played like that, Imperial heavy armor Sorcerer

Ayn Rand was a neocapitalist philosopher. Wrote a couple of books, Atlas Shrugged was prob the most famous/accessible for the lay person. Very much a merit driven ideological philosophy with a focus on minimal government and taxation.
She is one of the first few authors fiscally conservative minded people tend to read in their formative years. Incidentally Rand collected social security, something critics have pointed at when criticising her work.
The jib prob references her stance against the social welfare (the inference being helping) state. Reaganomics likely just refers to trickle down economics in the context used...? Maybe. Meaning help the rich and the benefit will trickle down to the poor.
TLDR - you are being accused of a lack of empathy and compassion.
