Crafting in ESO needs a major overhaul. As of right now, dungeon drops and world drops over power almost every craftable piece of gear with the exception of some very specific builds.

Craftable sets need to always be slightly more powerful than world drops and equal to vet dungeon set drops. This keeps crafting relevant and profitable.

Keeping crafting/professions relevant and profitable is required for any MMO to stay alive and stand up to the test of time.

    Crafted sets should not be more powerful than dropped sets. They are fine the way they are now. There are plenty of people on the best trial teams wearing crafted gear. In almost every (all?) vet trial group that half way knows what they are doing you'll have one person running Night Mother's and several wearing TBS. Hunging's and Julianos are very good and outperform TBS in dungeons and vMA. Plenty of others such as Kagernac's, Seducer, Magnus and Clever Alchemist are plenty useful. Tava's is considered BiS for tanks. And this is coming from a 9 trait crafter.

    I would like to see crafted sets be more useful than they are atm. I have spent a tremendous amount of time working on leveling crafting, and I think crafted sets should be on par with dropped sets so that there are more choices for players (imho).

    @Danksta you mention 9 sets. We have 30+ and only 9 of them are of use to most players. I don't think they should be better but they should perform evenly or have a distinct function/property that rng sets dont.

    Jewlery crafting levels the playing field.

    My fear is they will do this and build in some six month to a year long reasearching, learning, ultra rare thing can anyone say nirncrux or the new XP scroll. For it to be functional.

    You are probably right. And I could see it bringing a lot of people back to crafted sets. But it might have some unforeseen issues. Like isn't the primary reason for doing Vet Dungeons/Trials to get high level (purple & gold) jewelry? I assume that if people were able to craft and then upgrade the quality of a jewelry item, they would be able to upgrade the quality of dropped sets too like they can with armor and weapons. The market would also crash on jewelry items. So what would be the incentive to do vet activities?

    I am all for adding a jewelry crafting. But with MMOs, game mechanics are like an ecosystem and one change to the web could have a ripple effect throughout other parts of the game.

    Equip crafting takes same skill and more time than consumable crafting.

    Consumable crafting does produce product superior to drops.

    Right now esp given developing chars see their crafted go obsolete after a few levels while drops are always at their current level, it's not really even meaningful until endgame then only for a few.

    Need to finish their 1T overhaul with crafting upticks.
    Proudly skooma free while talks-when-drunk is in mandatory public housing.

    Crafting armor really stopped being profitable on console when the volume of sets available on guild traders per category grew in size.

    Essentially, if I wanted to sell tbs armor, it would need to well on the first day I put it up before it would get lost in the masses of items in the armor category of the trader. It's similar with motifs. Nobody has the patience to look through 5 or 10 pages of items for that one piece they are looking for.

    Yes I'm on the crafting train to nowhere, I pvp mainly and don't even wear anything crafted
    But still researching in the hope that it'll come worth it someday :/

    This. This would give crafters more purpose. Pair that with the upcoming furniture crafting and we're in business. Throw in jewelry crafting in the future - even better.

    I think the way our current selection of crafted sets compares to dropped sets is right. There are probably more desirable dropped sets, but it should be that way to keep people out there running the content in different areas. There are still a good number of useful crafted sets.
