Khajiiti Senche Mounts

To be honest, I do not think that Elder Scrolls Online is being as faithful to the lore as it could be, and should be. There have been a lot of mentions of inconsistencies before but for this idea, I'll be focusing on the Battle Senche Mounts that have recently been introduced.

Battle Senche Mounts is something that I had personally requested, but I think the way they were implemented is... disappointing. Senche are not randomly violent, and they are not domesticated animals. They are as intelligent as their bipedal counterparts, same with all breeds of the Khajiiti. This respect for the quadruped breed that it deserves has only been shown once in a quest in Malabal Tor I believe.

For a Battle Senche Khajiit to allow another creature to ride it into battle would require a tremendous amount of trust. Inspired by some old Skyrim mods, there should be a quest line for you to raise a Senche Kitten into a Battle Senche.

Utilizing daily quests for progression, the beginning of the quest can begin with a player finding an orphaned kitten. There are multiple ways to create quests for this but my idea would involve a multi-layered quest line for immersion.

Quest details condensed for easy scrolling:
Start Quest - Public Dungeon Encounter in Northern Elswyr - Hidden somewhere in the public dungeon you encounter two slain Khajiit of random breed. A kitten is being kittenish and sad with big eyes, and a pout face. Begin Raising a Senche Quests by fostering the kitten and taking it out of the dungeon.

Begin Raising Senche - This quest line would be laced with dailies that are essential to its progression. This would be a multiple tier quest line, and the separate tiers are only accessible by completing the necessary amount of dailies in that tier.

Raid of Khajiiti - Investigate the murder of the kitten's parents. This would involve some cross zone questing and investigation to learn the fate of the Khajiiti that were killed in the public dungeon. Depending on the dungeon, you might already have your first clue. (It was damned orcs!)

Dailies include finding edible food for the kitten (not apples, hay or oat). Food items can vary and can involve the provisioning skill line to include favored moon sugar sprinkled meals. In addition to raising the kitten, it must be trained so you teach it to hunt mice and rats.

Path to Revenge - With what you've learned during the investigation, now you must have track the normadic bandits that have destroyed the family of the little kitten. By completing the dailies, your kitten should now be of an adolescent size and mentality. In this age, it is a bit rebellious as any normal teenanger would be and is eager for revenge. It runs off once you're close to the bandits, and ends up getting severely injured. You only catch up to find it dying and the bandits having gone.

Dialies would be in two parts. First the senche needs to recover its health through the players care of specialized herbs. Alchemy skill tree could be used to aid these dailies. Then it must recover from its depression of failing, so the player has to take the senche on quests to assist taking down other bandits and/or easier prey.

Senche Justice - Once again, the Senche will have to had recovered through dailies in order to regain its health. Having lost the bandits, you must now search for them again, but with a much stronger lead this time you find them quickly. At this point your senche is a young adult, and agrees to do this together. You find the bandits, and assault them (without leashing and vision of only five feet from NPCs). With some scripted events, such as the senche being netted down and you rescuing it, it'll should a unique battle from the stale "go here and kill this guy" battle.

Alas, the murder of the senche parents was not there or escaped on a horse. Now he knows that he is being targeted by a fierce pair, he's on the run.

Daily quests, now with proof of your commitment, the senche agrees to allow you to ride it. You must train yourself and the Senche on how to ride. Obstacle courses, races, checkpoint races and etc. can be used to hone the skill of both the Senche and rider.

Abating Rage - Now that you and the Senche are ready to track down the murderous *** orc, you set out to find him. With the skills that you've learned, you hunt down the killer who again flees from both of you. Now with you riding the Senche, you can fire an arrow and knock the orc off the horse. Both you and the senche battle the final boss, until it is weakened enough that the Senche exacts it revenge by ripping its throat out (let's use the M rating!)

Now life-long friends, you have the battle Senche with you whenever you need it.

That is just my idea, and it can be certainly changed regarding the quests. The idea is to make the Battle Senche respectable and intelligent creatures that you must earn the loyalty of. This will also add a lot of content, since the completion should take about two weeks.

To note, it would be highly preferable for their to be different breeds of Senche that you can choose to raise. To name a few:
Tiger Senche
Lion Senche
Jaguar Senche
Cheetah Senche
Ocelot Senche
Panther Senche
Mountain Lion Senche
Leopard Senche - Snow Leopard
Lynx Senche
Bobcat Senche
Fossa Senche
Etc.

This would be available to all races, but the public dungeon should likely take place in the Northern provinces of Elsweyr, near the border of the neighboring provinces. There is very rich and valuable lore to help with adding exciting and unique mounts, so it really should be used in a game as expansive as this one should be.

ZOS have entirely perverted the concept of Senche, most egregiously IMO in context as mounts but on a wider level where they simply use them as exotic 'tigers' in the wild: have 'senche-tigers' in places like Grahtwood is simply crass, lore-wise.

But worst of all, far, FAR worse is ZOS making them available to all races as common mounts. The 'lore master' in Bethesda must be crying even now.

You certainly are not wrong. It seems ZOS needed some more variety with their enemies so they thought to add more beasts enemies and slapped Senche on the name because it was a golden opportunity to use some lore. It is completely wrong since the enemy Senche really are not Khajiiti. I cannot honestly admit that those are part of the Khajiiti race. The friendly Khajiiti Senche you see now and then, some of quests Senche, are much better represented. In one of the quests in Malabal Tor it even accurately portrays the unique Khajiiti relationship since a Senche was married to a bipedal Khajiit.

ZOS making the Battle Senche accessible to all races, freely, was a bit ridiculous and is one of my biggest complaints. Battle Senche have been ridden by others before (I recall reading a book somewhere in the game where a Nord rode a Senche in one of the battles - it was mostly noted that the Battle Senche was not credited by Nords for aiding in achieving victory because Nords are that racist). It is not common though, and that is why my questline idea would make Battle Senche accessible to all races but with good reason.

Well, to be fair, in an mmo environment it's kind of hard to justify giving one race a unique mount without giving all races a unique mount. From that perspective, I don't mind letting other races ride senche too much.

You... kind of have to read the whole thread. Actually just the original post. I detail a way for all races to have access to the Battle Senche mount.

When it comes to the senche mount, so long as not every roleplayer and their mother use them as mounts in thier stories, i dont take to much issue with mounts.

For example, i dont allow my buddies to use senche or that nightmare mount as a mount for rp. I allow guar, but they have to have access to morrowind or have a EP alt of the same character.

Honestly, put what mounts you want into the game ZOS, it wont change how we roleplayers use, or dont use, them

I have seen seen a thread suggesting to reset zones so that we can repeat quests. Personally I would not do that, but I do agree that there needs to be more repeatable content that is entertaining.

Currently dailies really are nothing but a grind, or have no incentive at all to play them. The only ones that I have found interesting were the Cyrodil dailies, because that came with the occasional chance to kill a player.

Dailies that are progressive, rather than horizontal, would keep me entertained for the length of those dailies. An additional suggestion, inspired by the common complaint of solo play not preparing players for group play, would be to add mechanics to the four main quests in my suggestion similar to the mechanics found on dungeon bosses.

The senche-tigers in the wild and the mounts available are not true senche in that they are not breeds of Khajiit. They are not intelligent and were given the prefix "senche" by whichever scholar or explorer to first document because they are very large cats with similarities to the actual Khajiiti senche-raht and senche.

The answer in this AMA is a little poor because the person assumed asking about senche-tigers was for player race purposes, but it still acknowledges the difference among senche-tigers, senche-raht, and senche.
