My rant... don't hate

I'm going to first start by saying, I'm not very good at this game. I've played Oblivion, loved it, played Skyrim, wish I would of had more time, but life happens... point is, I'm not new to elder scrolls games, but I'm not amazing at them. I don't fully understand the strategy in leveling characters. When I first started playing ESO, I struggled at first, but soon was able to obtain higher levels by questing and crafting and soon wasn't getting beat up by skevers at every turn... so that became how I played the game... I explored and killed things that were beneath my level. This was fun for me, I never complained about things being to easy for me.

The new update is making me pull my hair out while I try and do anything quest related with combat. I know I'm not good at this stuff, but I was enjoying it all, and now I'm just sad that I can't compete

Rethink your build (gear/skills/food/potions), if you're struggling with basic quest completions there is a serious problem and it's not the game difficulty.

I believe you... but I'm not a "regular" RPG'er... consider my background being FPS and action games where my guy got stronger because I picked a bigger gun up... but thank you, I will do better research, cause I really love the story, environment, and my "explorer curiosity" is always happy... would be a shame to quit because I get beat up by NPC's

For me when I started playing ESO as an MMO noob who had played a lot of TES games, the biggest adjustment was learning to be using skills constantly rather than spending almost all of my time swinging a sword. Maybe that's the issue you're having?

I play on Xbox,NA... and I recently joined a guild that is full of awesome people/players who are very patient with me... but every time I log into the guild chat they're always doing things pertaining to their level of skill and enjoyment, and I shy up not wanting to be like "you guys wanna help a dork like me?"

Don't be afraid to ask for help. That's what guilds are for. Even if it's just a G & G run (gear & grind) to open up the map. You get your groups together and travel the map killing mobs (bosses and such) and hitting delves. Good way to learn and practice your combat.

That's what guilds are there for man, especially the smaller and closer guilds. Don't feel bad about seeking help, or asking questions. One day you'll be at the point where you'll be helping newbies in the guild so you can give back for the assistance you received when you first started.

U can ask for help. Even in the guild if they played the game long enough. Don't say ur a noob no one helps noobs. I teach other players if I got the time to do so. Heck if one ur guild mates ain't doing anything group up with them and they will show u things.

Guild members should help you with what gear you need. You don't need BIS or expensive gear to go out and solo quests etc. One thing is you can't treat eso like a fps, you will die pretty fast. Watch some youtube videos or look at Deltia's website for ideas http://deltiasgaming.com/

Howdy, im on xbox NA, you looking for gear? If you're on when I'm playing I'll help with stuff, got all light, heavy and medium (except shoulders and head) all researched (so ha and la head and shoulders can be made in 9 trait) and 7/8 on 2 H sword and x9 on 1h and shield. X8 traits researched on staffs expect resto which i have all 9 done.

Master Alchemist and Enchanter too.

If you wanna do dungeons I can usually squeeze in a run or two and don't worry I can solo just about all veteran dungeons possible so we can get it done.

Only catch is I typically play late at night.

It is a learning curve, but... with a little bit of help, and some decent gear, everyone can learn how to at least become adequate in combat. Then, you will be able to do all the solo stuff at the very least...

Guildmates often are willing to offer a little help, both in advice, and often also in organizing practice/grind sessions. Another place to get better is cyrodil... wander in there, find combat, get killed... and pay attention to what the enemies are using against you, which combinations hit you hardest, etc.

One of the most important things about not getting klilled in solo combat is the three specials... block the gold sparkles, bash the red sparkles, and dodge the red ground. Repeat this, over and over again. Block the heavy attacks, interrupt the special attacks, dodge the area attacks. Again. AGAIN! Not paying attention to this is what kills most people in otherwise easy fights.

Also remember that heavy attacks will recover stamina/magica for your resource management, but be wary of opponents with shields, they can block yours just like you can block theirs, don't heavy atack the shield NPCs until just after you blocked their shield bash and have them dizzy...

Decent gear helps a lot. Decent guild stores can help turn your ill gotten gold into decent gear. Most people like to run two gear sets (you get seven armor slots, three trinket slots and at least one weapon - that makes ample space to slot two five-part gear sets) - personally I go for one defensive themed and one offensive themed set, choose some that fit your playstyle and such.

Decent skills help a lot too. Make sure everything you want to use is morphed and maxxed (yeah, that sometimes means slotting abilities with limited usefulness while questing). Also, find a good combination, and don't be afraid to tailor your ability load to the fight at hand... sometimes having the wrong abilities or not can make a huge difference.

There will most likely be people in your guild who are leveling new builds. Just pop in and ask if anyone is grinding new toons. If no one in chat is currently doing it at the moment, they will know who is grinding and when they do it .

Generally the more you play with your guild, and tag along for PVP or Trials, the more willing the guild will be to help you. Because the stronger each player is the stronger the guild will be.

Most players are happy to help and talk builds with anyone. If you are still shy about asking, just listen in chat. You can learn a ton from your guild by simply listening to them talk.

I don't think it's too much to ask that one needs to learn the game in order to succeed in it...

Just keep playing, dude. You'll get better, if you just try to.
