Do we know how much a house is going to cost yet ingame? I want to know if I need to super grind more cash or not ^^

And when will housing come to the PTS? I am super exhited about trying it out. ^^

It seems that the Zos team was working on a new Wayshine and it accidentally ported them to another realm where they are stuck in the floor and can't get out. Well, considering how quiet they have been, makes sense...Lol

I too wish to know How Much?
How will houses work as Guild Halls?
Are the rumors true of 5-6 Houses going to be in Crown Store?
Will Furniture Crafting be a new skill line in WoodWorking, or just take a new skill point?

    My guess on price:~ 1 million/500k/250k
I have seen datamined pics of a Canopy Bed, Nightstand and a Chest.
The "Free" quest apartment is a room in one of the Inn's in the larger towns. (See Update 12 Natch Potes for exact locations).

If some houses happen to arrive in the crown store my guess would be that they will be houses in the DLC zones.

Sure I read somewhere there may be a quest which in return you get a house, probably the basic of houses. All speculation of course.

I'll pay a million gold just for a training dummy. The house itself could be worth 1g for all I care.

Just kidding, I want to buy one of those big castles and share it with my guild. My guess is as good as anyone else's but that castle seems like it could easily have a 5MM price tag.

I believe I read first small house is given to you through a quest line after that no idea on what things will cost.

I am looking forward to being able to craft furniture, I hope they add things to the loot pools for housing I am sure they will have some premium things in the crown store.

Yes, I too heard that the player would be to get a house by completing a quest (rumor or not, I don't know).

Also, I've heard that the "house" would be a room at the inn. Which I would personally love since it would bring back SOOO many memories of Oblivion and Skyrim.

My characters spent a lot of nights at inns.

So are houses going to be a one time payout then to purchase? I will be very happy if houses are not a money sink requiring monthly or weekly rent.

This information is not available and prices when this is on PTS may not reflect prices once it goes live.

Houses are expected to be able to have a DPS test dummy. That alone gives it purpose. Also expect to have achievements with housing which will get those driven by achievements excited.

Large House: expensive gold sink, say 1mill

A few people have mentioned housing is going to be rented, I've read quite a lot on the subject and even written an article on the matter. I haven't seen any mention of renting houses. I don't think it likely as houses are fully customisable, if you use the new furniture making skill line then not keep up with rent, where are all your items and customisation going to go? I think that Zenimax wouldn't risk making properties rental as this would have quite a backlash and they will be using this as a way of drawing in the Christmas market and I don't think their shareholders would be too happy if they missed an opportunity like that.

I apologise as this site is massively under construction and just a temp host but I did this a month or so ago, not much information has been forthcoming since I wrote it.

Nah, the free-from-a-quest house is an apartment, or in other words, a room in an inn. The small houses are the next tier above that.

The housing update could be quite a major patch, as besides adding housing, hopefully they also update the crafting system, so that you can make your own furnishings. I remember with another game I played before, housing was done by having a number of instanced neighborhoods. You would go to one of the housing areas, and then select the neighborhood you wanted to go to. There were 3 tiers of houses, a small single room house, which also gave you 1 storage chest. There was a deluxe house which had 1 larger room and 2 smaller rooms, and gave you 2 storage chests. The top tier was guild halls which were like mansions. There was a very large room where your whole guild could get together for guild meetings and talk in private with other guild members. As well as smaller rooms. You could decorate the inside and outside of the different houses, using crafted items, as well as items that you could buy from an NPC, or earn from quests, raid bosses would also drop items that you could display on your wall. The houses would cost an initial amount of money, and then each month there was an upkeep cost. Each neighborhood had its own racial style. And I remember you could purchase a house outside of your race. You had many options as far as furnishings, carpet, banners, different wood or stone tiles, wall paneling, and outside there were a number of trees, shrubs, a pond, fountain, and unique items that you could earn from holiday event quests. You could explore other neighbor hoods and even enter other peoples houses if they allowed them to be open to other players, however other players could not edit or remove any of the furnishings, nor could they access your storage chest. If you did not want other random people snooping in your house, you could change the settings as to who could enter your house. There was a limit to one house per account. And as the population increased, they added additional instanced neighborhoods so everyone could have a house if they wanted to. Will be interesting to see how the housing system will work in ESO.

I want to live in Riften. And I just found the Riften house. But it is all locked up and there are no For Sale signs or Real Estate Agents to contact or anything. I've been running around trying to peer over the walls. I'd really like to take a look inside. Who can I make an appointment with?

Yeah, I don't see any upside for "renting" houses for ZOS. The only way this would make sense would be if they planned to offer "buying" houses as a subscriber exclusive (subscribers you get to "buy," non-subscribers can only "rent"). But even that doesn't really make sense (what happens to you "bought" house if you stop subscribing?).

Anyway, it's not like these houses are taking up real-world space or anything, like a real house. They will just be customizable little instances. From a programming perspective, they're really not much different than your ESO bank account or your inventory bag--just a few more variables on what custom stuff you have and where it's placed.

It's not "basically none of that" at all.
    • Furniture crafting is confirmed
    • 3 tiers of houses is confirmed
    • Decoration is confirmed
    • Racial styles confirmed
    • Access permissions confirmed
    What is not the case:
    • There won't be instanced neighbourhoods
    • There is no limit per account
    What is unknown:
    • Whether there will be an upkeep cost (although since he said "buy houses with in-game gold", I think that would be unlikely, as an upkeep cost would be "rent", not "buy")
    • What the extent of crafting and decoration is (but he said "decorate any way you want", so it sounds quite extensive)

If housing doesnt provide anything functional like storage or crafting..... why the hell am i going to be interested in paying 5 millions for a house??? From data mining it looks to me that it wont have storage or anything functional it will all be cosmetic besides the practice dummy... so to me its worthless...

Didn't they say that the Starter Home you get from the quest isn't actually a 'house' though? It's a room in an inn. Or maybe that was just a theory and wasn't confirmed.

The "free with quest" is indeed a apartment. Here are the locations taken from the Update 12 Natch Potes....
    Alik'r
The Sisters of the Sands Inn in Sentinel is renovating a room, and has temporarily blocked it off.
    Auridon
Shara's Public House in Vulkhel Guard is renovating a room, and has temporarily blocked it off.
    Deshaan
The Flaming Nix in Mournhold is renovating a room and has locked it.
    Glenumbra
The Rosy Lion in Daggerfall is renovating a room and has locked it.
    Stonefalls
The Ebony Flash in Ebonheart is renovating a room, and has blocked it off.

There may be more but these are confirmed locations to date...

"Basically" means you arbitrarily dismissed the entirety of that guy's post over the fact that the houses are instanced. You claimed that none of what he said could be true, despite the fact that over half of the post is completely unrelated to that factor; moreover, ZOS have already confirmed that most of what he said will in fact be happening.

The guy is basically spot on, as ESO's housing looks like it will be almost exactly like what he mentions from that other game, aside from the fact that there won't be separate housing neighbourhoods as all houses are present in the overworld, and there probably won't be upkeep costs. Since they are all present in the world, he can still meet up with other people outside the houses, and explore other people's houses depending on what permissions have been set.

I want to live in Riften. And I just found the Riften house. But it is all locked up and there are no For Sale signs or Real Estate Agents to contact or anything. I've been running around trying to peer over the walls. I'd really like to take a look inside. Who can I make an appointment with?

I was wondering the same myself, how will we be able to preview and buy the house? I'm not going to buy it sight unseen from the outside, I want to wander around the grounds, tour the interior, see what amenities it has to offer. Once I have previewed all the large houses, I'll make my decision.

I've seen the large house outside of Riften. Looks awesome from what I can tell so far, with the Smokefrost peaks in the background, and I've always loved The Rift in general.

I desperately hope there will be some way to have a garden outside your house. I just want to be able to plant a few flowers.. some vegetables, and would love to be able to have some fruit trees. It would be so awesome to be able to have some pets and animals running around too! I remember reading on another thread the idea of being able to see your mounts in a stable or something.. I think I would love that!

But if I had to pick just one "please.. please let us have," it would be, hands down the ability to have a smallish garden and fruit trees. :)
