Three Radical Ideas

So there have been a few design choices that would radically change this MMO in a bold and risky direction, breaking away from standard safe formulas. The Outlaw part 2 update was one such feature that sadly did not reach the light of day that would have completely changed this game in a very dramatic way. Another such feature would have been Spellcrafting, making classes less important and causing the most wild build variety at the cost of an impossibility to balance an already unbalanced game. These both would have been fun I think, but of the three I'm glad we got what we got with One Tamriel.

I mean, battle leveling the whole game? Allowing you to go anywhere and do anything from the start? Making content in all zones just as viable for gearing up and such while still offering incentive to do harder content like dungeons and such? This was an amazing risk that could have ended horribly but I think we can all agree by now that this has been a wonderful breath of life into this game. It just feels more like an Elder Scrolls game to me now, and I appreciate that as a fan since Morrowind.

What do you think? Do you like the features added in One Tamriel? Or would you rather one of the other two features, or all of the features, be implemented? Or none, that is if you hate fun.

IMO all three have imbalances when implemented.spellcrafting would bring diversity, which personally I think the games needs more so than making it easier like OT.

Spellcrafting sounds fun, and you could even use filled Soul gems to level them, it would be fun to find them as books like skyrim, or learn it from the mages guild.

Well, fortunately spell crafting hasn't been completely cancelled but it is unlikely to be put in anytime soon sadly. I hope it comes soon though! I would love it! Maybe alongside Vvardenfell in an expansion?

Edit: They could have the Telvanni teach the player spellcrafting or something to link it in even though it isn't like in actual TES lore the Telvanni invented spellcrafting but you have to admit, they were pretty dang creative with it.

    One Tamriel//Universal Battle Leveling
I took an indefinite break from the game when one tamriel was announced - it was revealed at some video game event and I thought

"One tamriel? When the players are crying for housing and spell-crafting and no-one is asking for changes to zone levelling? What direction is this game going?"

I missed the last two dlc's and some really cool crown store items, but I came back to try one tamriel.

1T is amazing. The freedom to go anywhere, or grind in one spot forever. Friends have joined the game for the first time or have returned after giving the game up (and we can do all of the content together!)

I'm impressed at ZOS vision in making such a radical change, and I am more confident in the directions they are choosing. Spell-crafting would still be nice though.

Neither would have been a radical change for the game.

Outlaw part 2 would have had a minimal impact, amusing you are speaking of the PvP nature of DB and TG which did not happen. Players would have been able to opt out of the PvP nature and anyone in their right mind would have used this to prevent other players from taking their loot. The devs understood the issues and that it would not be worth the effort to make it reality.

Spellcrafting would have been nice, however, it is a stretch to say something we know nothing about would be a radical change. It would have been nice and might have offered some real options for builds, however, it would not have been wild nor radical. Basically this is canceled as no one is working on it. Without a dev actually thinking about it, nothing gets done.

I can only imagine how bad spellcrafting would be. PVPers would complain the spells people are making are too strong, and the PVErs will cry because PVP is crying.
This game is a long way from being ready for any kind of Spellcrafting.

    Ya no...
    Scaling is already in
We dont need a useless grief systen
Spellcrafting has no place in an mmo. Therr is literally no way to balance it unless all you are doing is changing dmg type for spells.

I like fun, i hate stupid ideas
