Best way to make lots of gold

Elfhunter194
As the title says.

Im new to ESO, only level 17, and the way im making gold is by continuously doing dungeons, grabbing all the most expensive items i can find and selling them. Over all ive ended up with 5 grand of gold within a couple of hours.

Any other ways?

Also its great to be here!

MY advice, invest skill points into Keen Eyes passives and pick anything you see on the ground. Don't refine raw mats, wait untill you have full stacks and sell in guild stores for MM average. If PC - install Master Merchant and Awesome Guild Store addons for convenient trading. Good luck in earning your first milion :)

What I do is find out what is the hot item at the moment. Like now everyone wants the sun set, sorrow set and plague dr set. I sold a shield yesterday for 150k. Farm the areas where this stuff drops and sell. You can never go wrong with selling temps either.

    Three main ways.

First. Quest and do not repair anything. Sell any and all drops to vendors. The endgame sets you will craft and get are worth far more than the armor now.

Second. Thievery. With the TG and DB addons you can make tidey profit, from 10-20 K a day.

Third. The motif market. Get new DLC's, and play the economy. Grind for motifs and sell them. Get a trade guild for this.

Hey! Thanks for your useful tips, sadly i don't have it on PC, currenly using it on the xbox one. Better get myself into a trading guild then?

    Ways to make gold:

    1. Get in a trading guild, yes. Do some research first, though. There are all types of guilds and some have better traders than others. Some don't have traders at all and are only calling themselves a trade guild to attract members. Find a trader you use all the time, or look for a guild trader in a high population area (Daggerfall, Wayrest, Skywatch, Deshan). Get the guild name and try to find out more about the guild. Ask in zone or research online (many have webpages). Get an invite and start selling.

    2. What to sell? Spend some time every day or other day farming nodes (ore and alchemy can be particularly profitable). Once you get the ore, refine if for tempers (particularly gold tempers). If you're on console, I hear they sell for insane amounts (like 18-20k). Other tempers, tanins, etc. sell well too. At your level, I wouldn't save the gold materials. I'd just sell them until I reached level 50.

    3. Get your character qualified for crafting writs and run them as much as possible. Crafting writs give "surveys" which are locations with high yield nodes that only you can harvest. You will usually get AT LEAST 100 raw mats from a survey, and that should get you (depending on the RNG gods) at least once gold mat you can sell. You also get money for doing the writs and can earn as much 2k a day just running writs (although at low levels the mats might be hard to come by).

    4. Be careful not to oversell but don't undersell too much, either. Scout out prices in your guild. See what people are selling.

    5. Set a gold goal. My current gold goal is 10k per character which is actually kind of low. Each character has to bring it 10k gold a day to the bank. Often, they make more than that.

    6. Keep your expenses down. Don't respec all the time. Plan out bank space. Don't pay for every cool motif, try to get some yourself.

The truth is the first million is hard to earn. Once you have that, though, it's all smiles. :)

Another good way is to go to the public dungeons and kill the trash mobs in there. Most of these public dungeons have a lot of mobs in there. Each pack of enemies is typically 3-8 guys and will drop 150 - 250 gold per pack. If you can AOE them down quick it's a good way to make money by killing, plus you get xp. And, the bosses will drop set armor pieces so that's an added bonus while leveling.

Some public dungeons will be very busy because high level players will be farming the bosses. If you can kill the mobs yourself, find a less populated dungeon.

    Good luck

I wouldn't go farming sets as some have mentioned. Until you hit CP160, they're worthless or next to worthless. It's a waste of your time and effort. Not sure when it does change, but there comes a point when gold just seems to stack up. On my lvl 23 mage, I have around 50k. that said, I have two cp350 toons with well over 400k so I don't tend to buy much on my mage toon. My crafter is the only character that spends gold for recipes and motifs.

nah nah nah m8, OP def should refine those mats - the truth is OP, when you refine you have a chance for Tannin, Tempers and PItches - all of those will sell for far more gold than base materials either refined or not.

What Gargath is saying will net you some money - but at the end of the day you're just scamming yourself out of legendary mats which on console can fetch over 10k a piece versus stacks of 400 mats for a whopping 800 gold....

I def. second the keen eyes though - most people and guides say not to - but I've never suffered from a lack of skill points in this game, I have 3 right now I don't even know what to do with and will continue to get more for some time - keen eyesis helpful enough to offset the SP cost.

This is a big money maker for me. I used to ask the same question as you, OP. But then I started farming for a set I wanted and selling the items I did not want. I made about 400k in about a week, playing only a few hours a night simply farming in Dashaan.

Purple jewelry can EASILY sell for 50K. And thats a low ball offer.

The only problem though is that no one will want the gear if its low level. Its pretty much CP160 or bust. So this is best done when to get to CP160.

I'm calling shenanigans on this. A very tall tale. It would be semi-believable if you had said 'weeks' rather than 'days'. At lvl cp160 and beyond it's possible, very possible, but unless you have had motif pages dropping right, left and centre and the very best of luck then nirn doesn't drop like sweeties either. Well, not enough to have 3/4 of a million in both gold and assets.

How many days are we actually talking about? Getting those last few cp levels to 160 can be a ballache too and there's no way you're just gonna get that farming Craglorn on a brand new spanking character with no previous CP. PC prices are even lower than console and on console a new player isn't going to just stroll into things and earn in the region of 1 million a-week straight off the bat.

They don't sell for than gold mats, unless you're selling huge stacks of them. I get on average on 1 gold mat per 100 ores, sometimes 2. That's at least 10k in any guild store.

Hehe yeah, tbh just farm mats as you are levelling up, dont worry about gold so much at beginning, once you get a decent stockpile going, then you can expand.

Crafting writs is a underrated money maker as mentioned too.

It's actually quite useful to have at least one point into keen eye. Some of the most expensive plants, like Columbine, are extremely hard to spot without it.
