Users mention DX12 here and there, but is this still being worked on by Zenimax?

Back around Feb the devs had an interview or two where they let people know that they were working on giving the game a DX12 option.

Since that time, they have been silent about DX12 and any progress they have made on it, or if they have all out just decided not to do it. I know asking for things like ETAs, especially for massive undertakings like going to DX12, is not something that is reasonable. All im trying to figure out is if DX12 is still something that is being worked on, or did it get permanently put on the shelf for an indefinite amount of time?

I ask because one of the games biggest hangups for me is how the game is very CPU bottlenecked, causing FPS drops in big cities, populated areas, and more so...in PvP. If done right, DX12 would allow the game engine to use the CPU more efficiently in conjunction with the GPU, thus helping to lessen framerate drops in populated areas. Thus, it would be nice to know if there is still hope, even in the distant future, of ESO having a DX12 option.

Zos did not provide an ETA and has yet to do so to my knowledge. It probably is not a small change. More importantly, Zos, like many companies, does not provide information until they are ready to do so.

In other words, do not expect an answer until Zos is ready to do so.

Honestly DirectX12 won't help ESO as much because most of the game performance is tied to the server performance.

Also, with the game being on MAC they would be wise to port all the PC and MAC versions to Open GL Vulcan as it has all the benefits of DirectX 12, and runs on Win7,8,8.1,and win 10, and it could open an easy door for them to port a Linux version.

Sony obviously isn't using Directx most likely using a version of OpenGL...it makes the most sense if they want to go that route

Also both Nvidia and AMD both are pushing Vulcan support and are spending considerable resources there...Vulcan is AMD Mantle...they essentially handed over Mantle to the Chronos group to be the new OpenGL and opened it up for Nvidia as well due to its open source nature

I really hope ZOS looks at the long view...Vulcan opens up a much larger market for them.

Our eyes once were blinded, now through him do we see. Our hands once were idle, now through them does he speak. And when the world shall listen, and when the world shall see, and when the world remembers, that world will cease to be. - Miraak

Currently ESO only uses a max of 2 CPU cores so there is almost no point in having anything higher than an i3. There is a lot of ping lag that goes on in this game but allowing the use of 4 CPU cores will greatly benefit users and alloy them to get more fps.
