Steam keys?

Eventual_Silence
I know, I know, beating a dead horse. This was asked a few years back when ESO came to steam, with the new steam functionality though, this has me asking, why not give people with existing ESO accounts that came from a location that isn't Steam? I mean the choice is kinda as follows now:

1: keep your old account, don't have steam integration, including trading cards, posting on the community hub, uploading artwork, stats, achievements, etc., or
2: abandon your old account, including all dlc purchases, possible imperial edition content, pets exclusive to events like the monkey from beta testing, all your old characters and gain steam account functionality by buying the game a second time

I was a beta tester so I have the monkey pet, and if I wanted to do a unified library through Steam, I would have to give it up and start completely over, it's annoying that we are expected to give up our potential statuses, all our play time, our characters, just to get steam functionality. Speaking of, it makes even less sense that you have to reinstall the game completely just to get the functionality if you have the steam version.
One can be without a soul, yet make all the difference in the world.

Feel free to add me and talk to me if you want, I love gaming in general and I would enjoy talking to people.

    Agreed.

I contacted both Steam and ESO about this.
ESO told me to go to Steam about this, since the "problem" lies on there end, not sure about that but it's worth a shot I guess!

you can buy the game on steam ( currently it's on sale) and link your steam account to your existing eso account, get the steam functionalities as interface overlay, purchasing crowns and membership on steam, and more, and you can keep all your old stuff too. the deal is you need to buy the game on steam.

They recently changed it to where existing players with non-Steam accounts can buy a Steam version and link to their existing accounts. I had a non-Steam version and bought the Gold edition on Steam when it was on sale, for all the DLC. I linked my existing non-Steam account to it just fine. When it installed it even recognized all my existing addons. Here are the instructions:

    https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/36517

    In summary:

    1. From the Steam Library, select The Elder Scrolls Online and press Play.
    2. Allow the ESO Launcher to open, download and apply any required updates, and select Play.
    3. From the in-game login screen, select the “I have an existing PC/Mac Elder Scrolls Online account” checkbox.
    4. Input your ESO UserID and password and select Login.
    5. Select Accept on the link confirmation window.

Don't listen to people who tell you you can't buy the Steam versions (regular or Gold) and use them with an existing account. That's outdated info. I really wish ZOS would make this clearer.
