Physical resistance reduction cap?

I was wondering if there was a cap to the amount of resistance reduction that you can put on an enemy/boss. For instance:

Pierce Armor gives = 5280 resistance reduction
Night Mother's gaze= 2580 resistance reduction
Crusher Enchant= 927 resistance reduction (1854 if infused)
Toss in minor fracture somewhere in there.

If you have a tanky character with NMG using pierce armor with an infused crusher enchantment, does the resistance reduction eventually cap off?

Most bosses have around 18k resistance. You can lower it all you want but after 18k it won't do anything.

EDIT: penetration also counts as going through resistance

    @KaiVox22

Thanks for the info, man. I've always wondered at what point resistance reduction (or penetration) would be better than pure weapon/spell damage. Does that make sense?

Like is having 4000 weapon damage better than having 2000 weapon damage but with 10,000 resistance reduction?

If anyone has crunched the numbers- feel free to chime in!

    Berserking Warrior set:

(2 items) Adds 688 Weapon Critical.
(3 items) Adds 129 Weapon Damage.
(4 items) Adds 688 Weapon Critical.
(5 items) When you deal melee damage, your Critical Strike rating is increased by 400 for 5 seconds, stacking up to 5 times

    Heavy Weapons passive:

Two handed maces ignore 20% of your target's Armor.

Too bad I'll never complete the set for my White Bow of Alinor..

    ...on a Khajiit StamSorc?

I'm a big fan of heavy armor vs. medium armor... so, people could either do 5 medium (for damage) or 5 heavy (for survivabilty)- depending on their gameplay.

I actually made a khajiit stam sorc sword and board just to play that particular way, but for some reason didn't think of that particular combination. Obviously, with Blade Cloak, it'd work better for dual wield but I didn't have a sword and board DoT monster yet.

I used Berserking when it was a three piece and wish it still was one for more variety, but now that I consider what Puncture would do with that combo, I hope you don't mind if I use it, too! jaburnstank?

No, that looks too much like -stank.
