I'm actually so glad the Orsinium Anniversary Event is over...

Now don't get me wrong - like any player I love the double loot, I loved the double XP - but this event shined a light on some serious problems in ESO.

Worm Nodes: Probably one of the most common complaints since the game's creation, this event was plagued by nodes which were just worms and crawlers left behind - nodes that would never respawn. As somebody who is particularly farming for Ancestor Silk I felt I was particularly susceptible to experiencing this. Of course you'll get this in any zone at random times - but this event created a huge influx of it happening in Wrothgar.

I had tried to think about it from the sense of WHY people do it - which is, in most cases, because they don't have the crafting bag and auto-loot turned on. The limited inventory makes people become picky-choosy about nodes.

So as I was wandering yesterday, cleaning up dead nodes - I had a wonderful idea - what if we had nodes for fishing bait? Like what if we just legitimately had small patches of dirt with bugs coming in and out (animated for niceness) and we could just harvest bugs from there, removing them from clothe nodes? I think this would be great since clothing nodes are the only nodes that this happens on - once again as a clothier, this is a bane of my crafting experience.

Chat Spam: This is a personal complaint - but it's driven me absolutely insane to see the number of players typing things like "Mad Urk is up" - It peeves me because realistically World Bosses respawn like every 5 minutes - we should just generally assume they're up - these types of posts come largely from players too lazy to type the extra letters to say "I need help." It is almost like if I went to McDonald's and said "There's a cheeseburger on the tray" instead of saying "can I get a cheeseburger please." This is simply a matter of etiquette, and I got roasted in text chat once for complaining about it - but it still irks me that players can't be direct about what they want. If you want help ask for help, don't make blatantly obvious statements.

Lag to the point of Crashing (Especially true on PS4 PRO):

As somebody who bought a PS4 PRO mid event, I've seen how it functions both on the regular PS4 and the PRO. It's almost undeniable that Orsinium was far more unstable on PRO than on the regular PS4. On regular PS4 I had absolutely no issues with stability and framerate in populated areas - the PRO on the other hand was struggling to load textures of people, so most often all I saw was black silhouettes. Just walking through Orsinium, not on my horse, I crashed the app on atleast 4 occasions - and being the d!nk I am, I reported it to Sony everytime.

As if that wasn't bad enough - there's 'agitating' factors that made the problem much more prevalent.

Too many Duels in heavily populated areas, and especially at Wayshrines:

I've complained about this alot since One Tam. but honestly, I think ZOS needs to restrict how many duels can be happening simultaneously in an area - but especially near Wayshrines. Most often when I would pull up the map I would be subject to having just blank parchment paper - the map image would never show up - but the icons would. This meant that on quite a few occasions I actually walked away from wayshrines and ported for the cost of gold because it's just ridiculous - seriously, I can't even pull up the map?

I know duels are the cause because it never happens at wayshrines that don't have people dueling at them. I actually made a point towards the end of the event not to port into Orsinium directly, because there was a 50/50 chance of a blue screen crash upon loading in.

Dueling has been the bane of my exploration since it was introduced - and it's also pretty immersion breaking to have epic battle choir music start even though you're not even the one in a duel.

Crafting Tables (Too many players or PRO having texture/.png issues):

I'm really unable to pin down the cause - but it was only happening in Orsinium, and I suspect it's more an issue with the PRO trying to load better graphics. When I go to Craglorn there can be 50 guys on one workstation and I have no issue - in Orsinium I would go to tables with only 4 players and get blue screen crashes - after this happened many times I happened to notice it happened especially often in the Refining menu - the game would get stuck loading the pictures of refine-able materials (names would show) but instead of loading the picture, the game would crash. I imagine this is due in part to the PS4 PRO - but also the heavy server load in Orsinium at the time.

Intive/Duel/Trade Spam:

Naturally this event brought in droves of scrubs and new players to the area - and I often found myself being spammed with invites and text messages asking for gold. I have auto-decline duel off - but it's still annoying as heck to get the notification every 2 seconds because somebody keeps trying over and over. Same with group invites - I actually wish there was an auto-decline because you'll get a low level scrub stand in front of you - invite you - then you have this stupid text on your screen you have to dismiss - and lo and behold you're being invited to the group again.

Gold spam I actually got too much of. It makes me so mad that players out there go begging for Gold, especially considering it's not that hard to make money during a double resource event. But seriously - if I don't accept your trade invite after the first time, don't send me 50 more - I'm not giving you my gold, period.


My experience from this event made me dislike seeing other players even more. It highlighted all the issues that come from heavily populated areas - and actually made me quite upset at times - I didn't even participate in the last 3-4 days of the event because I just assumed I would crash and get blue screen within 10 minutes of being there. I'm so glad it's over now - and I can go to Orsinium - and sure, alot of the things listed above will still happen from time to time - but atleast the frequency will decline back to normal again.

    While I agree to some of your stuff (especially lags), i am still annoyed about some stuff in Orsinium.
    Twice-maelstrom-loot was a good thing to revitalize the Arena. Without it it will just drop dead until next year.
    At least, if Devs dont pay attention to the loots.

    Dueling in laggy areas, thank 1T, not an event

    Lag issues, I had none that I could tie to the event, I'm on xbox though.

    I did very little harvesting in Wrothgar during the event - usually just while I'm completing a survey.

    I was able to harvest unmolested in all the other zones and actually harvest MORE efficiently and with higher quantities by simply having less people around.

    Well even if #1 is a myth, I've cleaned up enough worm nodes to know it's still a problem and I'm not gonna sit for 5 min to see if the worm node actually respawns.

    Chat spam - I HAVE turned it off - but after I get so many messages it turns itself back on. I don't know why, but it annoys me that it does so.

    I mentioned the Dueling because during this event I couldn't even use the Orsinium Wayshrine without crashing - atleast in non-event areas it's just laggy - but I don't crash.
