I hear people saying they max there character in 6 hours? I feel like when I grind it takes an eternity, any tips? What could I be missing, I've done dungeon grinds and recently public dungeons and a spit in alkird desert or something, progress seems slow

What is the quickest way to level up? Dungeon grind? Questing? Sewers?

And how long might it take to go from level 38 to 160cp, thanks

Depends if you want skill enough points for your build.

Grinding somewhere like Sentinel Harbour (if you haven't done that quest) or Motilion Necropolis in Alik'r, Vile Lab in Coldharbour, etc will get you to level 50 in (I think) 5-6 hours but then you only have the skill points for actually going up a level each time. You'll run out of those in no time.
Questing takes longer as does finding skyshards, lore books etc but at least you're not gimping yourself.

and sorry, no idea on how long it would take from level 38 to CP160.

Oh also, from level 10 (? possibly before this?) you can do random Normal dungeons through the Activity finder. The first one usually is worth a level or two, plus if you do the associated quest you'll get a skill point, and potentially level up Fighters Guild and Undaunted skills as well (make sure you have unlocked both skill lines first). The only thing will be if your PUG objects to a low level, but with the scaling it should be fine so long as you pull your weight. I've done several on a lowbie and not been kicked so far.

Grind delves and dungeons for skill points as well as xp.
After done all that, grind tigers in rift for wax.

Wrothgar and Craglorn best zones to grind. In Craglorn specifically Skyreach delve will serve you well.

You need to find people (friends or guildmates) in a specific zone (not a dungeon) and travel to player. Otherwise you'll only have the starting zone (Daggerfall, Vulkhel Guard) wayshrines available outside EP.

Also as someone else pointed out, you can grind Sabre cats just next to Riften.

In general, find a spot with the best xp returns from killing tons of mobs that respawn quickly, have all training gear on, pop xp potions and farm away. I haven't had to do this in a very long time, so perhaps there have been some changes?

Spots that I enjoyed though: the feral bosmer zone in green shade, the necropolis in alikr, the zombie+other bad guys in the rift (a bit north of blessed crucible and east of riften), vile laboratory in coldharbour, and the vampire delve near dc territory in cyrodiil.

You can also find drops of the Trainee set on your starter island - which I think for EP is Bleak Rock?

Go to your alliance starter island and open treasure chests. You'll have a full set of training gear in no time.

Zombie farm in DC sewers still solid. Good exp and gold. You get loads of keys worth 20k+ a stack.

Trouble is running into enemy players.
I was farming there on my lvl 40 stam sorc, 2 red - 561+ and 440+ saw me, they met a quick death. They returned and died again, after that 2 hours of peaceful farming.

Also forgot to mention it lvls your fighters guild, thats another reason I go to the sewers.

Daggerfall sewers, as in the imperial city?

Yes, there's a loop. Just keep running it. Look on YouTube/internet. Some rooms have about 15-20 mobs at a time. Basically run in a big circle killing everything.

PICK UP ALL THE TROPHY SHARDS- you'll get 100s but they're worth big money.

Go on a "dead server" were not many ppl play on.

Also grinding in pairs gives more exp and goes quicker if u find someone.

Best suggestion is to first check in your own guild - biggest problem is that at moment everyone is shopping so there very few you would do it for a stranger. There are those you do it as a job and will ask for mats and maybe a small fee. Usually I help out those who I know or in my guild but now and then you might find someone who is around that will help you make an outfit.

(Edit) Forgot to answer part of your question. Technically anyone can make the out fit if they have the following - know the training trait for that item (usually done via research), have sufficient level to make the item (everyone can make up to lvl 14 items with investing any skill points) and have sufficient materials. It gets more complex when start looking at crafting a set (need to have the minimum requirements and also need to go to the crafting location).

Full set of training gear. = close to another 75-90% xp boost
    XP pots 150%
    10% ring of mara
    10% subscription XP
Plus the event which was just on 100% incrase.

That's like 350% xp boost, sewer farm, alk desert zombie farm, pvp public dungeon (chance of getting ganked), glenumbra zombie farm. Sewers/Blue Side Zombie farm best for leveling 10 fighters guild and xp in my opinion.

So many places. Timed it, 3hrs 45minutes to 50. Insane.
