    I don't think people use poisons in PVE. In PVP there are a few that stand out. Typically the resource cost poisons are favored.

    There is a poison that you can use to siphon crit. Draining crit chance from mobs does nothing but the buff to your crit works and you cant do that with an enchant.

    The crit poison is called Savagery/Prophecy draining and it effectively grants you minor savagery/prophecy for 5.5 sec every 10s

    So far, I play exclusively PVP, and so haven't tried any poisons yet. What I still can't fathom tho' is the idea that in exchange for completely disabling your base enchantment on a weapon, it replaces with a 20% chance of inflicting poison...if someone can explain how that is a desirable trade-off, I'd love to understand it...

    It is desirable for some characters because in PvP if you increase the cost of the opponent's attacks by 60% and also make them unable to become invisible then you can burst them down before they can regenerate their resources. This is most apparent when the opponent is relying on heals (Eg vigour, or shields) and they cannot spam them due to the poison.

    of course people use poisons also in PVE :), or at least I do :smiley:

    Another area that Poison could be desired over enchants, life drain.

    A Kuta Truly superb glyph of absorb health deals 2128 magic damage and restores 1021 health, on normal cooldown that's 2.5 procs per 10 seconds, so 5320 damage and 2552 health.

    A drain health poison with both sustained and normal health drain effects (water hyacinth, butterfly wing, spiders egg) does:
    (2x 1266) + (4x 822) = (5740 total) poison damage per 10 second cooldown
    &
    (2x 1503) + (4x 976) = 6,910 Heal per 10 seconds cooldown.

    Now pending proc chance the enchant may be about even with the damage dealt, but the poison returns much more health, so if you need a drip of heals it could make a difference, though it is consuming materials much faster than the enchant is.

    One more to consider - resource drain.
    Top enchant does 2128 damage and restores 354 magicka so again 5320 damage but 885 Magicka gain per 10 sec assuming max procs on normal cooldown.

    You can make a poison (bugloss, ladys smock, columbine) that is similar but returns both health and magicka, lower total damage though.

    2x1266 = (2532) dmg,
    2x1503 = (3006) heal,
    4x238 = (952) magicka per 10 sec

    So its a tradeoff, magicka + health regen for smaller damage dealt. For a magicka tank, worth it for the resource cost? maybe...

    Stamina equivalent is Mountain Flower, Dragonthorn and Columbine. Same numbers.
