Just logged on and all my addons were turned on instead of just those I had selected

I just logged on and noticed there were addons on my screen that I did not have activated. I went to my list of addons and EVERY addon was selected. I never made any changes when I logged off yesterday. Anyone else here experience this? What would make them all turn on? Thanks.

    Same character or different one? Many addons have per-character on/off toggles if you do it from within the game. If you do it on the character select screen however the changes will be global.

    If it happened on the same character then something went wrong saving the variables last time you logged off.

    It happened on all of my characters. I was only logged into one yesterday. I just checked my other characters and all of their addons were turn on as well. Also the settings in a few of the addons were reset. Very frustrating as I have so many addons and spent a lot of time setting them up.

    Hmm... that sounds like more than one problem. The on/off per character setting is saved in a file under documents > Elder Scrolls Online > live, called AddOnSettings.txt. But the individual add-on tweaks are stored separately for each one in their own subdirectory of the AddOns folder.

    I don't know of one thing that can cause both problems.

    Absolutely. I have had it happen twice in my life with ESO.

    Every single addon setting reset as well as some game settings. For me the game just crashed (bringing my whole system down with it) and then when I rebooted and started the game up, the first clue was the intro clips stared playing again. Then I noticed every single addon setting had been reset.

    Rather than go through each setting though I was able to use Windows "Previous Versions" tab for each addon setting file to restore them all. Much faster than re-tweaking them all over again.

    Sucks when it happens. Second time was only 2 months ago.

    edit: I now use the backup function of Minion religiously.

    Kind of a long shot, but the settings on one of our computers are on the way-too-small solid state drive. They tend to get randomly reset when the drive nears capacity.

    Thanks for the info. I have about 40gb free on the drive that this game is on.
