Veteran Maelstrom Arena performance sucks

This has been a problem for a few updates now, but the run I did today was by far the worst experience I've had with the performance problems in vMSA. As soon as I reached stage 7 all the effects from the enemies went invisible, things like AoEs, charging attacks, portals where they spawn, everything. Not only did it total a really good run, but it was also just extremely annoying. I really like ESO, but holy crap, what is wrong with it. I've been playing this game since launch and I feel like there isn't a single moment in time where a trial or arena isn't terribly broken in one way or another. Just earlier today I had to deal with bosses refusing to spawn in Hel Rah Citadel. It's extremely frustrating to be playing this game right now.

    The more I run vMA the more buggy it seems. The worst part is the RNG with them. This last run the visual effects from archers using that one-shot Taking Aim weren't appearing at all on the mob, so I didn't know about it to be able to interrupt. This happened on both stages 7 and 9. Stage 4 the Dwarven Spider boss randomly went invisible when he was near 50%, as well as both his green safe zone and fire AoEs, so that's a guaranteed death.

    That doesn't even include all the bugs with Sorcs and combat in general. Skills not firing, Overload stuck in heavy attack, Overload not letting me EXIT it, Hardened Ward waiting until after I die to apply, Power Surge running out long before its duration can end...

    Exactly, I have had all of these things happen to me as well >.< freaking ridiculous. And yeah, Overload has been broken since launch and they never bothered to fix it.

    Lol this is ridiculous. Now in stage 2 all 3 of the Centurian bosses are active (they're supposed to take turns sleeping) are active and wall wailing on me and shooting their lightning at once.

    Oh, and the levers aren't working. Awesome.

    Stage 5 (Rink of Frozen Blood): Boss isn't doing her warning signal thing before destroying an island. Way to go, ZOS.

    Stage 7 now too, ZOS? WTF?! The green isn't turning green when the lady that makes the flowers explode appear AND the AoEs from the flowers exploding is invisible. Fix your damn game!

    personally dont see enough posts about how bad the performance in VMA is. its a damn solo instance, so why is gods name would it be so laggy when casting abilities? these issues most likely will never be fixed

    Indeed. They will leave them like they have left the bugs in vDSA for ages, or like how they have given up on making Cyrodiil enjoyable. Personally with all the bugs and poor performance I have stopped playing the game as much, it's turned into just logging on once a week to mess around with my guild for a few hours. I've been *** defending this game since launch, because at least back then they were fixing stuff, but they've let it go and seem to focus more on Crown Store items than the actually game. It makes me sick to my stomach, honestly. I still have a small hope that they'll fix it all with the next Update, but that's probably not even true, and even if it was, it's still a long while away.

    It's a sad thing watching something you love so much be left in such disrepair.

    These things basically echo the problems I've been having.

    First time I beat vMA was the first day of the Orsinium event. I'd played vMA previously, but kept giving up on the final boss of the final arena. Point is, while I hadn't beat it before, I had plenty of experience trying before the Orsinium event.

    The first time I beat it, I noticed plenty of buggy things with vMA. It made things frustrating, and more difficult than they needed to be, but ultimately, it didn't break the experience. I've ran vMA several times since, trying to get the weapons I need (which I still haven't gotten, btw), and every time I run it, I feel like it's more buggy than the last time. Especially in the last two or three days.

    Previously, vMA was taking me an average of an hour and a half to complete. The last two times I've ran it, though, have taken me well over two hours. According to death recap, I'm dying from things I'm not seeing the animations for. The lag is unreal at this point. I'll try to cast an ability, it won't fire, so I spam the button. Mobs stop moving, but my character can move. Suddenly the mobs are somewhere else entirely (usually on top of me, at this point), and then the abilities I spammed start firing off all at once. Sometimes my bar won't swap, then will swap two or three times. Other times, abilities won't fire at all... like, not an issue with lag, where they fire several moments later... I mean they don't fire at all. Sometimes part of the animation will play, then nothing happens.

    I see input lag and buggy combat all over the place. 4 man dungeons, 12 man dungeons, public dungeons, delves, overworld, etc. Normally you can get by in group content with buggy combat. That's not the case in vMA, and it becomes so incredibly obvious how buggy it is.

    That summed it up perfectly. I've been so incredibly frustrated at the game lately. Not because I hate the game. On the contrary, I love the game... but it's so broken that I can't even enjoy it at this point. I unsubscribed from ESO+ the other day, and will gladly resubscribe when I start seeing even a few of the issues fixed.

    On my 8th run and of course stage 5 is bugging out. Boss isn't doing her warning thing before smashing the island OR going to the center of it before smashing, so you have no warning that it's gonna one-shot you.

    Spawn...overload is not reserved for vMSA
    I was in spellscar doin the group content the other day
    Had one set of NPC spawn....3s later another set spawned....etc
    Ever pad area was like that.
    I mean cool it was different...but damn!

    I'm noticing this. Bar swap lag, no animation from enemies = insta-dedz, Overload going weird. Liquid lightning tho that may be intended Ani Priority changes who knows.

    Does seem worse in MSA.

    I wonder tho, I work in IT, and strategy, changes, plans are all around ticket volume and problem management. We all post on here, scattered complaints, but wonder if this gets fed back in a statistical way to ZOS at all? I really doubt it. Moderator's may pass on the themes of complaints but I wonder if we would be better to open tickets. Surely they report on stats etc of tickets.

    Might start a new thread, encourage us all to log stuff as well as post here in bug reports and see if that helps then prioritise?? Any forum mods seeing this would that help?

    VMA has never worked for me, to much lag. Zenimax has done zero to make any improvements. Now the want you to invite other people to go play this game? I'm sorry but I can't advertise this broken/bugged game to my friends. It makes me feel a bit stupid for spending so much time and getting annoyed and disappointed.

    Prior to making this bug thread I reported the issues ingame via the /bug menu. It's something I always do. The reason why I prefer the forum though is that you can tell if other people have the same issues and often you get a direct response from someone working on the game, like for example I once got a reply about an animation bug from the Lead Animator, so I feel like the forum is a good place to complain since a lot of developers seem to read through it.

    I have one run per login before it bugs out. If I do three runs, the first is good, second has some buggy moments and I may get dashboarded, and the third is always unbearable with lag, freezing, rubber banding and disconnects.

    CS is useless, they send standard replies, not looking into your reported issues. And when they worked off there list they say other players have reported simular issues and ask you to wait for a solution while they are working really hard on the issue.

    They should have called it Elder Scrolls Offline, I get better ping times to most servers in 3rd world countries.
