I know the idea of weapon dyeing has been rehashed a few times, and the average complaint against it is that you'd have people running around with unnaturally colored weapons.

Here is my proposal:

Allow us to dye our weapons in only the colors currently available for weapons.

As things are right now, each tier of materials does have a different color tint. Some styles show it more distinctly than others, but overall there is a vast difference between the look of an ebony tier weapon, a ruby tier weapon, and a calcinium tier weapon.
Examples below.

As dyes are currently tied to achievements, it would be interesting to see weapon dyes tied to crafting level in each profession. You want to be able to dye your weapons ruby red? Level a crafting profession to 50 and/or spend 10 skill points in your passives to unlock the dye permanently for your account.

Here are some visual examples from eso.mmo-fashion.com:

I always though the argument that they didn't want players running around with coloured weapons was silly. I mean, my rub greatsword is red by default... but even so, people already run around with unnaturally coloured armor, which is way more distracting than weapons.

And then, even if you are still that concerned, just don't include 'unnatural colours' as options... limit them to the ones already there, or only gold and steel... even though my sword is already red....

The fact that weapon dying isn't in there already is just lazy in my opinion.

We have male orc tanks in toxic green wedding dresses. But yes, of course, unnatural looking weapons are the issue we should be afraid of.

I just want to run around in a wedding dress with daggers transmogrified to look like flowers. That's all.

I like it, but I'd be even more happy if they allowed us to craft Rubedite daggers looking like Iron daggers, colour and style included.

I refuse to accept a limited range of dyes. If people can run around on horses made of ice with yellow glowing skin and firebreathing frogs that all clash nicely with their glowing blue and orange armor.

Let us use our dyes, I'm dead tired of making christmas tree looking staves and pink/red swords.

It would definitely be an improvement from what we currently have, but I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to dye my weapons with Blademaster's Mauve if I want to.

Oh, I definitely would love to see this! Weapon dyes unlocked by crafting skill, and then usable for all characters to make the ugly red and blue weapons look more like cold steel or such? Count me in!

Another idea would simply be limiting the "business end" to already existing metal colors... (from cyrodilic steel to automaton bronze, etc)

But I really, really am tired of running around with red daggers on ym main. They make her look so... guilty. ;)
