Crafters of War / A Cyrodiil Crafter's job

Hello folks,
today I'd like to present a huge concept regarding the importance of CRAFTERS in The Elder Scrolls Online.
Right now they are pretty much underemployed because there only exist a couple of good craftable sets.

I'd like to bring forth a concept of crafters in Cyrodiil: Make crafters able to craft unique war machines that cannot be bought with gold or AP!
The general concept is there are blueprints/schematics that can be gained by multiple ways. When having fulfilled the schmematics dependancy you can craft it at the new crafting station in each alliances home base. There are multiple dependencies on some schematics!

1.) Aquiring the schematic
Those can be aquired by ...
  • fulfilling Cyrodiil board missions (e.g. "Kill 20 Dragon Knights", "Capture Fort XXX", etc.)
  • in Cyrodiil reward messages for ranking up
  • as a rare drop from Cyrodiil dolmen
  • the weaker ones can be bought from AP- and Tel-Var stone traders
titlevvuig.jpg

2.) The crafting station
There is a huge pile of wood planks and ingots and other clutter on the crafting space. Its a combination of several crafting stations.
It can only craft War Machines. The regular machines (Trebuchet, Ballista, Ram can be crafted from the very beginning). It does NOT matter which level the mats are that you use. Rubedit Wood should have the same effect as Hickory or Iron the same as Void Steel. It would be far to complicated to do different scales in each siege weaponry. See below for the costs.

3.) The Schematics / the costs and the effects
Note: The siege weapons that are old I am not talking much about.
But every siege weapon I made up myself has the *NEW* and a small description to it!

Those weapons below do not need extra schematics and are available from the very beginning.

Requirements for learning a schematic: NONE!

TREBUCHET

  • 120 Wood, 70 Leather
  • 5x Taderi
  • 5x Oru
  • 5x Mastic

Can be found as uncommon drop at Dolmens and be received by Board missions.

Requirements for learning a schematic:
Woodworking, Blacksmithing, Clothing at 50/50 and the first passive each at least 5/10

  • 100 Wood, 50 Ingots
  • 20x Okori
  • 10x Mastic
  • 10x Grain Solvent
  • 20x Denata
Description:
This ballista takes has no elemental effects and has a shorter range compared to the Normal-type ballista.
However its fire rate is approximately 33% faster than any other ballista. Also the health consumption per shot is reduced on this type!

RAM
Type: Warded *NEW*
Costs:
  • 120 Wood, 70 Leather
  • 10x Deni
  • 10x Oko
  • 2x Rosin
Description:
This ram is magically warded by protective runes on its outside decreasing the damage taken.
Also protects players currently operating the ram with Minor Protection, decreasing damage taken by 8% while in the radius.
But this results in slower attack rate of the ram itself!

t4o2upc.png
Can be found as rare drop at Dolmens and be received by Board missions and as uncommon drop from rank-up messages.
Those super rare siege weapons are the non plus ultra in siege weaponry in Tamriel.
It should be very expensive to craft to avoid everyone uses it in fear of it being destroyed.

Requirements for learning a schematic:
Woodworking, Blacksmithing, Clothing at 50/50 and the first passive each 10/10

TREBUCHET
Type: Xivkyn Bombard *NEW*

The damage will be about three times the regular Fire Trebuchet but with not DoT attached! To compensate for this insane damage the fire rate of this trebuchet is cut by 33%.

In terms of defense this ram is like the regular one.

    Very interesting, I like it!
Only thing I would change is materials required for crafting, seems a bit over the top to me.
Also, I would add one thing, and that is that quality of used raw materials would have an impact on war machine's longevity, aka health. Machines crafted using rubedite tier materials should have higher durability.

Great idea but I would say only if you where 9 out of 9 on all research so that master crafters could have something they could make some money out of

will overcomplicate things. plus you forgot oil catapult. oils. and you forgetting coldfire trebuchet already does ~20k damage to regular targets (even more to vampires) dont need something that would one shot everything it hits including emperors.

Worth also considering that a lot of crafters don't actually PvP a lot, so the method for procuring schematics has to be thought out carefully

The general concept sounds interesting, but the proposed example looks wildly overpriced, not to mention overpowered.

Not a hard core PVP'r but have played a bit in here and other mmo's.

Love the idea of utilising the Crafting capability.

The prices seem low in all honesty. The objective would be, in my opinion, to get the guild to effectively be buying this equipment, so pooled resources. They should be something that is not common place, but something that is worked for.

It might even be relevant to assign certain item(s) that are required for the build (i.e. 1 xyz stone) that is a rare pickup from either farming across the world, or just in certain zones - increasing presence/population in certain zones. Clearly something the core pvp'r would not appreciate, but for a crafter and PVE explorer, getting back to old zones you;'ve not been in for a while would be a blast for them. This would then facilitate the trade between the pve/pvp'r groups.

Siege are intended as an AP sink with only a few small number coming from other sources. To have crafted seige they would have to be sub par to the vendor one and hence not worth it.

I agree on the great ideas as well ...

    What about forward camps?

Those could be made out of leather and different essence runes. Since they are crafted, the radius could be larger and respawn time shorter ... depending on the material level used and crafting level of the player.

It would require a new craft line and new matts. None of the skill lines fit. Not a good idea for the matts to compete with each other and many players still craft gear.

Crafting siege weapons would be interesting, but the materials needed aren't appropriate. Siege machines aren't enchanted, you wouldn't need runestones to make them. Even in a world of magic, Trebuchets remain grounded in real world physics.
