Generally on single weapon builds (with 11 pieces) I use 2 x 5 piece sets , wasting 1 piece of gear. Do a lot of y'all use 5 + 4 + 3?
If so why and what sets? I'm thinking PVE.
2x head and shoulder set
5x pc armor set
3x pc jewelry set (willpower, agility, endurance)
1x or 2x pc weapons set (Vma or master weapons)
This, more or less is the intended basic setup. Good place to start.

You don't have to waste a slot, use a Monster Piece that gives a nice one piece bonus for your build. So, for any DPS, a single Molag Kena is a nice thing to have. There are others that would suit a tank or a healer or some other build as a single piece.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The Meta for most Staff users in PVE is a 5 piece (TBS, Julianos, Etc.) a 4 piece (Aether or Moondancer) and a 2 piece Monster set.
You want to think about what gives you the biggest bang for your buck. A monster piece is going to add more DPS than another other 2 piece bonus. Aether and Moondancer are awesome because they give you Minor Slayer (5% damage bonus) and they come in Jewelry. Then you will want one 5 piece bonus as they are really powerful.
On my Sorc for example, I run 5 TBS (4 armor and both staffs), 4 Infallible Aether (Jewelry and one Armor), and LLambris monster set (Grothdar is prob better for any magic user that isnt a sorc). This could be slightly improved on if I had both a sharpened infal staff and a shapened VMA staff, but I dont. You would then move your TBS to all armor pieces. Sharp is too important to drop, so having crafted weapons solves this issue.
