Is there any asymmetry in Maelstrom?

Being on console, I seem to lose my direction a lot and lately, I have noticed that there is some little things asymmetrical in Maelstrom. For instance, in Round 7, the final boss spawns at the side with 2 pillars on it, instead of 1 (North Side). Are there more examples of this?

Are you a flawless conqueror? Because I'm not sure how you'd have the time to notice things like this otherwise.
The generally amicable yet sporadically salty magplar that may or may not have 1vXed you in Sotha Sil. Who knows?

this may not answer your question directly

but to me, it's a thing that you simply get used to the more you do it. I got lost in the arena a lot, especially when i was searching up spawn point diagrams within my 10th or 15th run, and I would have an incredibly hard time remembering which side is which.

But now, while I cannot point to exactly how I identify a side (in your example you specified pillars), there is absolutely no symmetry in vMA for me anymore. I know exactly which side I'm facing, I know where portals currently are, and I know where the next portals are, etc.

I didn't notice that but I did notice that they buffed VMA.

Yes there is alot of this. It was designed this way purposely. So that spawn camping and whatnot would be harder. It really does add to the difficulty of the arena. Now if you look at DSA. It is very easy to remember spawn points and directions. As it is more square. I usually have a good sense of direction. But even after tons of runs I still get a little turned around in VMA because of this design choice.

The first arena, I generally go to where the boss spawns and use that as an anchor point to know where everything is coming in.

In the second, I just stay mostly at the center spawn point, as the outer spawns usually die to a vampire's bane or two.

The third has lighting differences that indicate the spawn in / out part.

The fourth, I run around like a crazy person with no clue where I am but it works. I then use the boss spawn to pinpoint the exit.

The fifth arena has a visually distinct arena behind the platform with the exit portal, which I believe is the north platform. Easy to remember north = cold.

Number six, just always remember south as the exit point.

The seventh is the side with a single arch.

The eighth is easy because of the pillars.

The ninth doesn't really need any positional anchoring.
