Question about forum rules.

Hello, I have a question about a forum rule. Or a question of what I'm about to ask is or is not against the forum rules. So I'm creating a Information and Recuritment thread for the guild I am. I had an idea to post and advertisment about mercenary contracts that players can pay us to help them fight in PvP.
My question is this: Is it against the rules to advertise payed (in-game gold coin payment) mercenary work in the forums?

The rules on this topic are kinda loose in meaning and I'm not very sure where the rules stand on this matter.

I don't really know if its against rules
I may just barely get it if a pve'r wants help but if you're talking about paying to get emperor and the like, I'd say it's pretty much frowned upon :/

If you are offering or asking real world assets in trade for in-game stuff, that's not kosher.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

No, we are asking for in-game currency. Gold coins. The rules are clear about real world assests, but vague on in-game assets

So your plan is to find a group of players who enjoy PVP (your mercenaries) and get people to pay in order to get them to play PVP?
If people don't pay, what will your mercenaries do? Wont they just play PVP anyway?
I'm not trying to troll you or annoy you, I'm just genuinely curious as to how this will work.

To put it simply for the sake of time:

Other guilds will pay our guild to come into their home PvP campaign and take over the map for them. So if the guild who is paying us is unable to dethrone enemy emporer and claim a friendly emporer, they will pay us with in-game gold currency to go in there in help them.

Actually our contracts are quite fair. We offer a low price for our contracts that even a small guild can afford. Payments are given in 2 seperate times. A 50% up front payment to start the contract, and the final 50% is given once the contract is complete. If we fail to complete the specifc agreement of the contract, then the 2nd payment is no longer required.

But we are getting off topic here. I still need to know if I am allowed to advertise mercenary contracts for in-game gold coin currency.

You're advertising. Read that part of the rules not just on the forum but the game.

In context of what you're doing and then rephrase to your specific question of what sentence is not clear

I'm a little it's not in the spirit of the game rather like selling a vamp or ww bite to a guildie. The transactions I've herd about in my campaigns weren't as well accepted

The only rules I've been able to find is the "Community Rules" I cannot find any rules to the actuall game itself.

Basically after I re-read the rules. It states you are not allowed to advertise "outside buisnesses" (I don't know how to spell that), "Other games", or "venures that make a monatry profit". So the rules clearly state you are not allow to advertise for real world assets, but it doesn't clearify about in-game assets like gold coins.

To be honest my guild is going to go "all out" with the idea, if it is allowed on the forums. My guild will actually have a written contract. Those who want to contract us will get one sent to them. They will fill in some blanks such as: their gamer tag, guild name, campaign name, and so on. Contract will clearly state what is expected from my guild, what is expected from the contactor paying us, the price and so on in full detail. At the bottom they will type in their gamertag as a electronic signature with the date, they send the contract back to us. Our guild member will put down their gamertag signature and date. We will keep a copy of the contract and we will send the guild paying us a copy of the contract.

sounds kind of weird - but, potentially fun (we all need some motivation to play, fulfilling a contract sounds like a decent motivation)...

after careful consideration, I Zos proclaim that yes in fact it is okay for your guild to advertise your services (in the name of some ambiguous role playing concept)...

ummmm, is it against the rules to impersonate Zos...

ugh, what's up with all the loading screens in cyro tonight...

Well then, just post a detailed description of your guild in the guild section.

I would guess it probably wouldn't be allowed. Trading threads aren't allowed, in which you exchange in-game items for in-game gold or other items, so exchanging in-game services for in-game gold would probably come under the same restriction.

    From the Crafting forum guidelines:
Please do not use this forum to arrange trades or buy and sell in-game items. Posts that do so will be removed.

Pretty sure this is already happening in ps4 EU campaigns, my guild was talking about this a couple of nights ago, it seems like it is already happening. OP dont suppose your on ps4 EU servers?

edited for additional info- Emperor Slayers comes to mind. idk if this is a legit guild or just rumours so please don`t quote this as fact.

I thought people joined guilds to get help with their characters, not pay for help with their characters.

here is what you can do though. create a free guild website then put your guild website in your signature and within the post about your guild. You can try mention that you do contracts for pvp of sorts but to see the guild website for further details thus not talking about any coin or items on the forums.

On the external website you can put the details prices etc. Then you will have nothing mentioned about trading services for gold or items but while putting he guild name out there and if they are interested in the mercenary contracts they can further go into your guild website and set up a contract there.

just a thought but you would need someone or a few people to be checking the guild website daily for such things. You can also advertise the contracts that you are willing to do in chat around the world or in pvp if you want to be more subtle about it.

Terrible idea. Do not follow this advice.

"We do not consider the promotion of guilds, fan sites, and fan groups, or the activities and content thereof, to be advertising. Please feel free to let The Elder Scrolls Online community know all about your guild, fan site, or fan group! Simply keep in mind that you may not promote your guild, fan site, or fan group if you are looking to turn a monetary profit by doing so."
    - ESO Forums Code of Conduct

OP, in-game mercenary work is fine, and advertising your guild is fine as well, and as long as no real-life money is involved, you should be good to go to advertise your guild services, since it falls right in the "promotion of guilds... (and) the activites and content thereof" category.

Not allowed to talk about Politics, no swearing (racial slurs, cuss words, implied or otherwise), no DEMANDS OF ZOS, I think petitions are borderline... Seen some petitions last, others get closed so I guess that depends on what the petition is. No naming and shaming other players or forum users.

And no mentioning He Who Shall Not Be Named, which falls under the Politics category ;)

Also check the various forum sections because a lot of times there are other categories more appropriate for a post or a question etc.

I think it would be fine to advertise in the guild section or PvP section about your guild and what you do but I wouldn't use the forum to conduct your business with specific transactions.

I think it's a cool idea and there are a lot of ways in which the game is prepared for it, an "assassins guild' would be cool too. Pay an assassin to hunt someone down.
