Trying to max all crafting

KimberlyannKitsuragi
I want to become a master crafter (9 traits able to craft anything) for all professions. I'm having such a hard time of it because between questing and skyshard hunting, I barely am able to farm enough mats and stuff. I feel like I'm always running out.

Any tips anyone? This is one of my main goals. I'm using levels 1-50 for deconning everything then once I reach 50 I'll start researching because I'll have the skills to cut the research times down :)
Feel free to add me. I'm part of the Gummy Guars PC/Mac NA server. Master crafter and working on getting 9 traits on everything

Start researching traits as soon as possible. I cannot emphasize the importance of this enough. Research traits as soon as able, regardless of perks.

The only way to get more materials is to buy them, otherwise it just takes time to get materials. For equipment, take everything and deconstruct it.

:D when I comes to equipment should I research too or just decon it?

Nope ~14 months to research all traits on all pieces of gear, if you get passives quick and research back to back. Even with ESO+ it's still more than one year. I've almost done it on my main: 3 weapons and 5 pieces or light armor to go.

Really that long? I've been researching for a month now with all three (bs, clothier & woodworking) all simultanious maxed at 50. I never have an open slot. I have 6 traits on all Heavy Armor and just started Nirnhone on Heavy cuirass. 12 days! So my guess is 24 for #8 and what, 48 days for #9? That's insane.

It's best to prioritize. Research Everything up to 6 traits then begin that long trek for the last three. That way you keep progressing 3/3 for everything.

That being said when I do reach the stalemate of waiting 24 f'ing days to research another trait. I am going to spend that time leveling Alchemy, Enchanting & Provisioning.

Each new trait on a piece of gear takes twice as much as the previous one. With full passives you can research 3 items at once, and the research time is capped to 30 days, also with a percentage reduction. For example see the research times here

The 8th & 9th trait kill you. With ESO plus it's 21 days and 27 days respectively. Heavy armor for me is at 8 trait for me. Will be 3 months before all 7 hit 9 trait. Three can run for a month. Three more next month. One more month for the last one by itself. It sucks. I have 9 trait medium and 2 handed weapons. I stupidly didn't start woodworking till a month ago. I did shield and bow randomly as I could but never touched staffs

You can craft a few good sets with 3-4 traits researched, and most important ones when you have 5-6. The only widely used 9 trait set is Twice Born Star. http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Crafted+Sets

Don't forget to do the crafting certification quests from your starting city, once done you can do daily crafting quests, and all of these give crafting experience (called inspiration)

When you get access to champion points, there is a passive in one of the trees that gives a 10% bonus to inspiration. Other useful champion point bonuses include master gatherer and plentiful harvest.

Finally. If you can find a friend to help you, a boring way of getting experience is to both make items, swap them and deconstruct each others (you get very little inspiration from deconstructing items you crafted yourself, so get more deconstructing your friends).
#1 tip (Re)check your graphics settings periodically - especially resolution.

    One more suggestion.

If you are really strugling with wood/metal/cloth resources then consider starting a new character.

Send that character straight to a good grind spot (vivecs antlers in stonefalls is good as the mobs often drop enchantments as well and there are alchemy ingredients around). Kill as many mobs as you can before your inventory is full, and then deconstruct all the gear on your crafter.

You get lots of gear and experience from killing mobs, so you'll have another character levelling up while your crafter levels crafting.

Took me 15 months to research all traits, though I wasn't religious about it. As for levelling up crafting, I used to buy items with the intricate trait from guild stores and deconstruct them, (gives more XP when deconstructing said item).

Instead of having to read every tooltip again and again I recommend installing http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info111-ResearchAssistant.html

Analysing, deconstructing, selling will become much easier with this mod. 5 symbols are enough: red: you haven't analysed the trait yet; yellow: the trait on this item is not learned yet but on another one too; grey: you already learned the trait and can decon the item; cyan: intricate; coins: sell it.

Note that all the crafting skills except provisioning and alchemy raise faster by deconstructing items than actually crafting any.

Regarding ressources: E.g. my crafter is cp188 now. I have blacksmith at 5/10. I mostly find ebony and rubedite ore. The ores inbetween I guess I'll start to find when I raise the blacksmith skill to 6/10, and so on - but I also found them when I was of lower character level. So the type of ressource nodes seem to both relate to the crafting passives and to the character level.

You find half of the nodes that have contents scaled to your level or CP if you are above level 50, and the other half scaled to the passive allocation in the respective crafting skill tree. This is how DLC areas have worked for a year and that system has been implemented in the whole game.

    @SaRuZ

If you take the 4th Passive, there is a cap on how long it takes for each trait, I think it is 30 days max, and other passives can reduce this to 27 days. There might be a way to get it even lower, but I have long since taken all the research passives back after finishing research. However, as you have discovered, you can get to 6 traits pretty quick, a month or two. Which is good as some of the best crafted stuff only takes 6 traits (Julianos/Hundings). 7, 8 and 9 Trait sets tend to be Niche or Build specific, except for Twice Born Star which is not necessarily the best set out there to make.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Yes, about 14 months to research everything. That is if you have all researching passives, research 3 at a time and are diligent in starting the next research item as soon as the last one finishes. I have been playing since September last year and my last 4 items finish researching next week. I admit to not starting efficient researching straight away as I had no idea what I was doing and have only been on ESO+ for the past 5 months

I think, in order, the default research times are 3h, 6h, 12h, 24h, 2d, 7d, 14d, 28d, 30d(with 4th passive). So that's about 83 days per item and for clothing and blacksmith you have 14 items. So researching everything in these lines is at least:
14 (items) divided by 3 (at a time) = 5 (rounded up) researching stints of 83 days. So about 415 days (5 x 83) to completely research clothing and smithing.

With ESO+ from the start you save 10%, so 365 days or 1 year - my 8th and 9th item are 24 days and some hours and 27 days respectively.

You don't need materials for researching unless you are giving them to people to make researchable items. You can find plenty of research items in guild stores, some of it going cheaply if you shop around. As for leveling up, don't do that by making items, this is done faster by deconstructing everything you pick up.

Start researching traits straight away and I mean as soon as you get out of the wailing prisons, because that *** takes ridiculously long. Pickup every damn material you can find. Intricate gear is your friend here, get as much of that stuff as possible as it when you decon it, it gives you a noticeable boost. If your running short, do some dungeons, intricate stuff drops like hot cakes in there.
