Any tips for maintaining enough materials for doing crafting writs at 160?

I'm mainly referring to WW, BS, and CC, and it always seems like I'm barely keeping up. In the past I could just go on a stealing spree to get materials, but now at cp 220, I only steal shadowsilk, etc... The surveying maps used to keep me loaded up, but now I don't see them as rewards as often, and when I do, they're for lower zones.

I just returned for 1T after a break, so maybe I'm just missing something. It seems like the only way to accumulate materials is by stopping the daily writs.

Any tips would be appreciated...thx.

The mats you get, I think is scaled to what skillpoint you invested in crafting. It doesnt matter what zone anymore.
The survey maps do have a lower droprate then before, but contain twice as much materials. Also, there is an event in orsinium and the dlc is also 75% off in crown store. It has double drop for the next two weeks, you can try to farm mats there.

If you have access to DLC Orsinium, this week is the one-year anniversary and the drop rates of the nodes is double, or more. I at lvl 4 or 5 in my crafting skills and am getting drop rates like 10 or 12 pieces per harvest.

CROWN CRATES: It doesn't affect gameplay, it's not mandatory, it's cosmetic only. If it helps to support the game and ZOS, I support it! Say YES to crown crates.

if you are seeing spidersilk nodes then your character SHOULD BE either level 36-44 or have their skill at clothing set only enough to craft spidersilk.

Nodes scale based on character traits now, not combos of zone and character alliance as they did before.

At cp220 level 50, nodes and scrap drops should be for ruby ash/rubedo/ancestral silk half the time and whatever you can craft at max for a given skill the other half. This is regardless of zone.

    otherwise its a bug.

The writs should be scaled to your craft skill too as i recall so "max level writs" shouldn't be a problem for max level crafters as all nodes would scale to the character/skill.

So the big difference is IF YOU HAVE ALTS you need to be paying attention to who is doing the farming. Your crafter can gather nodes suitable for their crafting and writs but other characters might well see different nodes.

Also keep in mind, equip drops in armor, clothing and weapons are also scaled to your character level, so its easy to acquire lots and lots of decon gear for mats as well if you send characters into action who are also at the right character level.

Sorry, if I was unclear about a couple of things...

I have no problem with nodes, they are correct level.

But I used to steal random gear/weapons around town and it was always scaled to my character level, but now the items I steal are the tier below ancestor silk/rubedito etc...

Thanks for the tips, I definitely need to get my butt to Wrothgar asap.

Not sure how long you have been gone, but Stealing gear for decon does not pay off in mats anymore. Your lucky if you get one mat per piece on decon. They nerfed stolen items into the ground as a source for crafting opps. Then again, you get one mat back on deconning CP150/160 gear that is not stolen, but you also get 10 times the crafting experience.

Wrothgar is insane right now for farming, I did not find a node up there last night in 10 minutes. Later on there were a few. But, I went to a couple of other zones and tripped over the nodes as I went.

What I would do besides Node Harvesting is to go and Farm Public Dungeons and Overland Grind Spots. You get exp, gear to decon, sometimes a set item, gold, you can level skills and some shinys. Sell enough Whites to cover repairs, then decon what is left. Winner winner chicken dinner.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Run 2-3 dungeons(Pledges and Daily Random) you will loot enough gear to keep up. I haven't had to farm in a long time. Rubedite, Ruby Ash Wood and Spidersilk stay at 200. My daily writs consist of 1 item though(1 Sword, 1 Helm, 1 Gauntlets) at Clothier, BS and WW maxed, all passives. My bank is full of mats, trait gems and motif stones. Pretty sure I have 90 diamonds. I'm a decon addict

If you have only 1 crafter then if you run around 100% of the day gathering you might complete the daily writs each day. If you are like me and have 4 crafters then forget about doing writs since you burn through 45-90x4 mats and have a 1 in 10 chance to get only 120 mats in return. not worth it...

writs at level 50 /T10 for blacksmithing, wood working, clothier are a gold sink. Doing them is a waste of time and mats. Sell the mats through a guild.
