Hey guys, any advice on how to do this boss? A group of three mates and a random DPS got stuck for hours yesterday.

We had a strong tank on the boss, side healing and a bit of Aoe. Healer a bit of Aoe and dropping aoe ultimates. DPS dropping aoe on balls of adds, when boss dropped all batterer him. Seemed to take him down 10% each cycle. We got to 20/30% a few times but then one would die.and it would go to pot.

I there a good position to ball them? By the waterfall? Or are we on track just bad luck? We'll have the 2nd DPS a know mate next time

That boss doesn't aggro, so you don't really need a tank. Best is to have all people DPS in this fight. It's not very important where you do it, but it's important to move from the boss AoE. If you have a Templar healer he can simply use repentance on the dead netch adds to heal and restore stamina constantly. When a sufficient number of adds is killed, the boss drops and can be damaged. Save the ultimates for this phase and drop them on him quickly. Don't attack him when he's up, especially with ranged attacks, because he reflects them back. There's no fixed number of cycles. The period when the boss is down is fixed, so it's important to DPS him as much as possible in this phase.

A Tank could chain/CC the Netches, so the dps can faster burn them. AOE is the key here, you want to burn as many Netches as fast as possible.

Nope. It's a waste of resources. If all people stack the netches will come to them. Just put down ground DoTs (elemental blockade, endless hail, razor caltrops, liquid lightning etc.) and spam AoE abities (steel tornado, pulsar, power extraction etc.) and they should go down in no time. If the tank is DK he can debuff/damage the adds with noxious breath or engulfing flames depending on his build. Don't kite them because you will lose the DPS from ground DoTs. Move just when the boss does it's ground AoE.

If you're only doing 10% on Grobull when he's down it sounds you lack a lot of DPS. The longer you take on this fight the more adds spawn and the harder it gets. At the very least save your ultimates for Grobull when he's down. Ideally you'd like to do at least 25% to him per go which will be around 3-4 rounds of adds. Beyond that it gets difficult to survive the add rounds.

For the adds it is all AoE damage, and bonus if you can damage Grobull at the same time (he does take a little damage from AoE attacks). Stack and get everyone to use AoE attacks just being careful of Grobull's AoE explosion. Tank can switch to semi-dps for this fight to make it go faster but can also taunt Grobull and the larger netches to make it a little easier for if you're having problems surviving.

"Only 260"? I've finished VICP and VWGT with people that had around that number, and had pretty smooth runs too. And DSC2 does not even come close to the difficulty there, even after the revamping. Spamming heals in this fight it's plain wrong. At most the healer should use healing ward when the boss does the AoE. If he is Templar he should simply use well timed repentances on the dead adds and he can go full AoE on the adds as well, and the boss when he's down. I assume he's running restoration staff on front bar and destruction on back bar so he probably has Pulsar unlocked too. He can slot that on his back bar, and simply spam it at the adds, once or twice to make sure all have their health reduced by 10% then either spam that or even spam puncturing sweep, which is a very strong AoE and simply press repentance every ~5s to keep health and stamina topped up. He should also slot that radiant oppression to burn the boss when he's <50%.

Sounds like you don't have enough dps when the boss is staggered.

Thanks guys, I think you've hit the nail on the head, to clear the add's the healer and I were saving up Ultimates, and then dropping them together, to clear the wave, and drop the boss - thus on the boss we had no Ultimate left.

So our plan later is to up the standard AOE and save them Ulti's up - and follow the other snippets on this thread.

Thanks fellas, answers make a lot of sense. Cheers

This fight is a nightmare when you are first doing it with an inexperienced group. But once you get the hang of it, it has become one of my favorite boss fights. The final boss fight in here, though, the giant Dwemer Spider? Hated it at first, hated it as I got to know it, hate it now. Ugh. Just a long, annoying fight, even when done perfectly.

Actually the last one bears some semblance to another of my favorites, the one with pinion and race to close portals ;)

Thanks for the help guys. We had a good attempt at it but still have to pass it up.

Our AOE was better, and we killed the Adds first couple of waves using normal skills, saving Ultimates for the downed boss, we managed to get him down 16-18% per round, but each time he went down often one of our group would.

Our healer is spamming away on heals, he's only 260CP, and our other DPS 310CP but has great AOE and that did make a difference we just didn't do enough damage early on or bad lucked a few poorly timed deaths.

We balled the boss and adds by the stairs as you enter, we didn't try the walking up and down approach - on that next time.

Thanks @Asardes I didn't mean to sound snobby re the CP, I have zero level / rank snobbiness but I know sometimes folks do on here so I wanted to give context, certainly wasn't running him down! :)

Amazing update, thanks, our Tank adapted this run as suggested but healer will still on full healing, he did switch to repentance but i'll pass on the rest of the advice! The quest continues!
