Why did malestrom arena reset for me?

The first time a finished it, it was a quest so my progress was saved till i finished it. Tried it a second time (didnt take any quests) I did till stage 7 then logged off. When i came back again i started from stage 1 again.

Why did this happen? should I take a quest or something for it to save progress??

Yes, in order to keep your progress you must take the quest.

Agree, you have to take the quest. In Witches event I ran in fast, and didn't see any quest. Now I've been back, it realised it takes a few seconds for some animation to happen and the quest icon to appear. I was also on silent so didn't hear what was going on.

I went in yesterday and died off the bat because the game froze so I went to reset. I left vMA and deleted the quest. Came back in and the instance was not reset. So I decided to go ahead and finish until I had problems on stage 7. Once I completed it I decided to take a break. Came back and it had reset back to stage 1.
So annoying
