How do you market a new zone to players who haven't finished the game?

Wrothguard, was marketed to all players because it was one of the few places you could PvE with friends from ALL levels. So whenever you were all on, and needed something to do, you could pop over to Orcinium and quest.

Now we have Tameriel One, and we can do that on any zone. So, how do you convince players who still have 5-10 uncompleted zones to purchase new content like this?

Why, are you trying to convince someone to buy it?

It's a great zone with a great story and offers tons of Experience and repeatable dailies. It's the only zone I have taken all 5 of my mains through and will take the rest of my characters. DB I only did with one character and have no plans to do so with any other. Thieves I might take more than the 2 I have done through it, but not sure.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

PakKat "Everything was going well, until I died"
Gary Gravestink "I am glad you died, I needed the help"

I sub, and have finished very little as I really LIKE wandering around and doing things when I'm in the mood to do them.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

So far none of the new zones have been directly linked to the story so you don't have to finish the story to go there.

Why would this even matter? If new players haven't finished the story mode they can still do so. Extra content is always a good thing. IF you only want the original content so be it, but exploring different areas is a great break from the normal.

They will each have a niche... Orsinium is needed for the Maelstrom weapon. TG and DB are needed for the skill lines. IC is needed for another method of PvP when Cyrodill gets boring. Shadow of the Hist is needed if you want any of the sets, since you can't sell dungeon gear outside of the group you ran with. That goes for any set items from dungeons for future DLC, assuming they keep dungeon sets BoP with 2 hour trade for other people who own the DLC or sub group members.

Wrothgar is not only the best written and voice acted of the ESO zones, it also demonstrates that Zenimax learned a lot about the online gaming medium itself since launch....well...with the exception of Maelstrom but that's another subject.

I hope we have more stand alone new zones like this.

Keep in mind, though, that most zones have self contained story arcs. Best of this, just in my opinion of course, is Stonefalls. The entire theme of that zone is picking at the often accepted wisdom that desperate times call for desperate measures.

Reaper's March is another very good stand alone zone.

T1 helps you appreciate the story in many ways, because it allow you to pick and choose the ones that will resonate more with you without having to also do the others.

For $8 you can slaughter horkers and chub loon to your morally gray heart's content.
And pocket mammoths. But mostly horkers and chub loon.

    You don't.

You hopefully are building and developing content that fits into the games theme but content that does offer a mix of niche content for some large groups and with value added reasons for most players to do a lot of the content.

The issues personally that caused me to dislike the last 3 updates TG, DB and the dungeon pack are neither of those three touch on meaningful experiences for me.

If we can all be honest, if not for motifs and unless you wanted to kill and steal....the content isn't meaningful. Luckily there was large enough of a player base who really wanted stuff like this.

It makes more sense to access the DLC content now if you haven't finished the main story than it did before One Tamriel. Now you can return to the base game and not be over-leveled for it as you used to be.
