Dragonknight DPS Build Advice

Kallyra
Kallyra
Greetings all

I will be the first to admit that I am useless when it comes to stats and this is very obvious when playing my Dragonknight. I somehow managed to get halfway between DPS and Tank without being very good at either. During PvE, it's pretty decent - she does damage and has a pretty good survival rate - but during dungeons, well...it isn't very helpful.

I am looking for any advice or recommendations on a DPS build. This is because I do not know the first thing about tanking but I am familiar with DPS. I know I probably made a bit of a mess with her and she is currently lvl 50 (CP 267).

She is a Breton (so I've been told a Magicka build may be preferable) and her weapons are One Hand and Shield and Bow (though this one can easily be changed - not much xp there). She also uses a full set of Heavy Armor (also easily changed).

I am willing to respec my character as needed. I don't know what other information may be needed.

I thank you in advance

If you want DK DPS you have 2 variants:
Magika DSP = inferno staf + at least 5 light armour
Stamina DSP = DW (+DW/bow/2h optional) + at least 5 medium armour

Since you are Breton go for a magicka build. I main a mDK dps and I use inferno staff on both bars, however dual wield swords on 1 bar seems interesting as you get more spell damage and can complete two 5 piece-sets. Dragon Blood (in pve only) and harness magicka will keep you alive.

For gear in pve I'd choose a combination of:
    -Burning Spell Weave
    -Silks of the Sun
    -Grothdarr
    -Valkyn Skoria
    -Julianos
    -Kagrenac's Hope

Infused on head, chest and legs, divines on other armor pieces. Sharpened trait on weapons.

I don't mention a sustain set because when you use inferno staffs you'll weave heavy/medium attacks between applying your dots an force pulse/crushing shock, making magicka sustain easy (especially on Breton). Heavy attacks do a lot of damage with molten arnaments on :)

For skills I use (but use the skills you prefer):

    Front bar:
-Crushing shock Or Molten Whip (spammable)
-Engulfing flames (dot and 10% fire damage increase)
-Burning embers (strong dot and heal)
-Flames of oblivion (10% spell crit and damage every 5 seconds)
-Elemental Ring (spammable in mob fights, swap out for Elemental drain against bosses if healer doesn't use it)
-Standard of Might (best dps ulti in my opinion)

    Back bar:
-Coagulating dragon Blood (oh *** heal)
-harness magicka (strong shield and magicka return)
-molten arnaments (40% increased damage for heavy attacks and major sorcery)
    -Elemental blockade (strong dot)
-Eruption (nice long dot and crowd control with mobs)
-Magma shell (I use it for moments when almost everybody whiped and I need to resurrect, you can use Shooting star for mages guild passives)

Keep all dots on and use spammable in between reapplying them :)

    Hope it helps :)

    Hi Kallyra

I can`t comment on a PvE magicka DK as I am still working on optimizing my build,
but a stam DK I could help.
Firstly your class isn`t optimized as you rightly said you have magic passives.
For stam I would recomment khajit or another similar stam based race.

    Run Dw/bow

Dw - flurry, venomous claw, twin slashes, molten weapons (the weapon damage morph), vigour and I use flawless dawnbreaker ultimate.

Bow - Razer caltrops, volley, poison injection, trap beast, volitile armour and again flawless dawnbreaker ultimate.

As for gear I run 5 Vicious ophidian 5 night mothers gaze and 2 velidreth (on dw)
5 Vicious ophidian 4 night mothers gaze and 2 velidreth on the bow bar.
but you could use hundings, twice born star, they are all good.

These have served me well in most veteran trials and hardmode pledges.
Hope I was some help if you choose the stam route.
