Paying Forward - Lack of selling options.

As a player in ESO we have all heard this complaint.

In order to sell, you must be a member of a guild that maintains a vendor or you can spam in zone chat.
What if there were another option? Perhaps a choice that made players happy instead of coin.

Yup. I writing of giving items, free, to players. Not so much the ones that ask, more so the ones you are near.

As a heavy RP player from other games, I adore interacting with nearby players. It might be a brief line, poke or chat. Conversation may entice a longer interlude. What matters is interaction.
I feel good, as a member of ESO, mailing, trading, whatnots, free...weather they need the items or not. I hope for a pay it forward idea.

Do you often offer gifts to strangers? If so, thank you.

We remember such kindnesses.

I certainly do. Gold, crafted sets, etc. for total strangers, especially newbies. Makes a big difference to meet someone nice when you're first starting out. It's happened to me in the past.

Stranger mentioned in casual conv wsnting help.

    Offered to crsft cp160 gear.
Refused pay and also threw in 5pc inc jewels drop set that worked with crafted

    Done and done.

Always give free bites ww or v.

I believe anything you craft should be never bound to you even after wearing so you can hand-me-down to others your developing gear.

I agree... I remember my first time in ESO, I was damn lost with what to do so I started stealing stuff around until this one guy came up and asked me if I was new. I said yea, and I was surprised that he spent 3 hours of his time getting me up to speed in the game - he gave me tips on what to do, some gold, and a few items for crafting, even an offer for future help should I need it.

I was amazed at how kind the people were in this game, and I thought that I should do so in turn. So whenever I see new players join in and asking.. I do the same thing I was given. Just a month ago, I helped this certain player get up to speed in the game by giving him gold, tips on what to do, as well as starting set item gear (2 sets).

Anyways, the main point is... I agree, it makes a really big difference when people are kind to each other. It's one big set of dominoes, when one starts, the other follows. :)

I'm always poor because I give a lot of stuff away. Gear, crafting stuff for research, crafting gear for people and my WW bites are always free. It doesn't take but five or ten minutes to craft some gear for someone, why bother charging them? If it's a 160 set I just ask they bring their materials, because I can't supply that much.

I remember when I switched over from NA to the EU server, on my first night there with my newly created char who was to become my crafter, some sweet Khajiit fellow gave me upwards of 30 recipes. Another kind person has been helping me out with my enchanting skill too by giving me runes to decon, and I finally reached level 50.

I only ever ask that people pay it forward and help out someone else in need or just because. I don't know how many of them do, and it isn't something I can enforce of course, but I hope they do.

Edit - Just a sidenote... I really think this game needs a few "freelance" traders in major areas, so that people who don't have guilds, or are currently very new to the game have somewhere to sell things.

A central auction house would be good, but would definitely screw trader guilds. I likeep the idea of a few freelance traders though. Maybe the merchants that wander around.

I always give away stuff, it's a karma thing. GAVE away 2 event masks yesterday because a kid was losing his mind trying to buy them but he didn't have much gold. Just to see him excited was enough. Helping others is not a bad thing. I try to offset the greedy players trying to rip some of the low levels.

A guy was trying to sell a primal motif yesterday or day before, 20k. I politely told him he was too high, he got all upset. SO you have to pick and choose. It's amazing the wide spectrum of attitudes you come across in this game.
