NPC with Bound Weapons?

I remember reading a topic about a request to add Bound Weapons skill line to the game, same as dual wield but based on spell damage and max magicka.
A few weeks ago I saw some NPCs in Grahtwood using purple weapons. The weapon vanishes when the NPC dies, so I thought it could be some kind of bound weapons.

I think that is an enchantment actually. Usually members of the mages guild have those. I think it might be the prismatic enchantment

But you can see his left hand has a purple glow when he 'unsheathes' his weapon, then when he dies the weapon vanishes like smoke.

I don't know if that was a bound weapon but I would definitely want them in the game.

But for balance reasons, they would have to be looted/crafted like any other weapon.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

    Totally agree.

The visual itself should become some sort of procced effect on Bound Armaments.

Npcs in the justice system could summon bound weapons since the very beginning.
A lot of things are in game which are unavaible to us players.

I noticed on my sorc I get a glowing green/red effect on my resto/destro staff.

not sure what exactly changed, buti doubt they're showing quality of weapons based on visual effects.

seems pretty dumb for this reason alone, bounded NCP gear.

Are you sure those aren't just the effects of the poison? Since update 12 the effects for poisons now show on your weapons, which is nice

Whyever would anyone want "Bound Weapons" in the game? I mean, to preserve game balance and not make the game mechanics too complicated, any summoned weapon would have to be without set bonus, trait or enchantment, aka, just a basic weapon of decent qality, but without all the bells and whistles... yet still take up your hand slot, so... what kind of player in their right mind would use that???

When people say "bound weapons", they really mean "magicka melee weapons." Ideally they'd work exactly like other weapons in that you "craft" them (maybe by crafting a summoning gem or something?), can be part of a set, can have a trait, can be enchanted, with their own skill line catering to melee magic users.

Ah, I see... well, bad news for them, any weapon you swing around with your musclepower should never be magica, always stamina. No matter if its made out of steel, or mystically summoned.

While the weapons which are magica, should always be powered by your concentration, spellcraft, and magical prowess and not your muscles. And let's be honest... if its a spell anyhow, you might as well have the extra range. Besides, the mage standing behind the tank is traditional in fantasy (unless its an overleveled son of a bi... uhm... balrog... like, say, gandalf...)

    That being said...

There is something to be worth thinking about, making a "one-handed and magic" skill line for those spellswords who want to mix swordplay and magic...
But I had that idea a while back already: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/259011/additional-weapon-skill-ideas/p1 ;)

Justice mage NPC's cast Bound Weapon when you attack them. As far as I know there aren't any other instances of it present in the game.
