They're supposed to come back next year yes. And you didn't misread it, exactly; there are three tiers to that achievement and 50 Skulls is tier 2 while 100 skulls is tier 3.

I know how that feels, I have severely limited play time right now too so I established daily goals. I think it is the best way to make sure you can do it on at least one character.

You won't get Plunder Skulls anymore after the event is over, afaik, but hopefully ZOS will let us complete this year's Witches Day achievements next year too. Some MMOs make new seasonal events with new achievements every year, which locks the achievements of past years forever, but I hope ZOS won't go that route. If they want to add more stuff to the seasonal events, that's nice, but I wouldn't like them to remove stuff in order to do that.

Thanx for the tips guys. I have 70 skulls so far so i should just be able to make the 100 but it would be nice if they added them again next year with different rewards maybe??

The skulls you harvest while the counter is bugged will not count retroactively, gotta farm more next week no matter what.

Monday the counter will be fixed, and because of the bug the event ends at November 8th instead of November 1st, so you have an extra week now to get all your motifs, plunder skulls and hats

I agree, but you might want to wait a bit before starting the second, third and fourth arenas. They only have three waves plus boss instead of four, so there is a real possibility that you will burn through them in a little less than three minutes, which is the cooldown. Waiting 30 seconds or so should be enough to guarantee a skull after every arena.

Hit Normal Maelstorm man, 9 Skulls in 30-40 mins

In the last 2 days I've taken a character from level 20 to level 35 in 3 runs through Maelstrom, getting all of those skulls... This is with all training gear and XP scroll. I'm not super quick in MSA, so each run was roughly 45 minutes for me, but that worked in my favour in some ways because it meant that I didn't have to worry about the cooldown timer for the skulls.

It's a really good way to do it if you're trying to get skulls without worrying about other players possibly killing a boss before your timer is up, or if you're also leveling a character at the same time.

I got a weird slightly off topic question for you @UrQuan ...why would you try to speed along your level progression with a non vet character?

I'm not sure I've seen much benefit from raising them from non vet to vet...basically, with the combat scaling my non vets have a lot better sustainability/survivability stats than my vets (the only thing that seems to rise when "vetting" them is their weapon/spell damage)...

A couple of reasons, really.

It might seem strange to other people, but I don't like having any of my characters sitting at an "odd" level (and I don't mean odd in the mathematical sense). So when leveling non-vet characters I'll play a character until I get to a level that's a multiple of 5. With no XP boosts, this can mean that I spend a few days (depending on how much time I get to play during those days) playing one character exclusively when maybe I really only wanted to play that character for a little bit. In the past I would never use XP boosters because I would always out-level content without them anyway. Now that out-leveling isn't a concern, I can take full advantage of the bonus XP and get this character to level 50, where I'll never have to worry again about "oh, if I play this character for just a couple of quests I'll then have to keep playing that character for the next few days". Yeah, I know, I'm on the verge of being OCD about certain things.

Another almost-OCD reason is that once this particular character hits level 50, all 12 characters on my main account will be max-level. And I like the idea of that.

The other big reason is gear. Once this character hits level 50, all 12 characters on my main account will be max-level, and will always get max-level gear drops. So if I decide there's a particular gear set I want to get pieces of, rather than going and farming it only on characters that can have it drop at max level, I can take a look at all of my characters and see who hasn't yet done the quests/world bosses/dolmens/delves in the zone where it drops, and just go adventure in that zone with any one of those characters I feel like questing on. I'll also finally be able to open those Wrothgar & Gold Coast recompense boxes this character has been sitting on for what feels like forever, and get max-level gear from them.

A minor reason is that I need to use up the couple of XP scrolls I've been sitting on. I got them as part of a bundle I picked up many months ago (I can't even remember what the bundle was, but I know for sure that the XP scrolls weren't the reason I bought it), and I never wanted to use them prior to One Tamriel because there was no point on any of my level 50s as I'm more than 100 CPs above cap (unless I wanted to level certain skills, but it feels like a waste of an XP scroll to just use it for leveling skills/skill lines), and for my couple of lowbies I was running into problems with over-leveling the content anyway. So I'm using them up now while they will actually provide some benefit.

The other thing is that leveling quickly is only part of the reason I've been doing some Maelstrom runs on this character. I'm also doing it for the plunder skulls (I still need the pumpkin mask), and because I find it fun.

Edit: oh, and I did 1 more Maelstrom run on this character last night, so she's now level 40.

No real reward or no real quest line meant it was just another rng fail for me which on top of all the other grinds on this game just makes me not want to log in and play
