Ive got 50 blacksmithing and all traits researched etc, pretty much a full fledged crafter/smith, altho I never rly got into writs, but ive been trying last couple of days, but the rewards im getting for crafting rubedite equipment is like grand repair kits, iron dagger and iron ingots, what am I doing wrong? If thats the standard of writ rewards im not gonna do a single writ again and Ill consider the time ive spent doing writs so far...wasted.

They reduced the drop rate of surveys, but the surveys themselves (when you get them) give way more raw materials.
Zeerok (the sneaky ruffian) - LV50 Bosmer stamblade DPS (AD)
Gontrand de Bourbon (the greedy aristocrat) - LV50 Breton magsorc tank (DC)
Augustus Aquilarios (the imperial claimant) - LV50 Imperial stamDK PvP (EP)
Zeerokk (the AD zealot) - LV50 Altmer magblade PvP (AD)
Lianna Storm (the inferno maiden) - LV50 Dunmer magDK DPS (EP)
Fights-With-Khajiit (the gullible faithful) - LV5 Argonian templar (EP)
Miner'va (the skooma addict) - LV3 Khajiit sorcerer (AD) - chaotic neutral
Siggy Thorvaldsson (the charismatic baroness) - LV50 Nord stamwarden tank (DC)

It's RNG with writs. The real reason you do writs is for the Gold Mats and Surveys. Gold Mat drop rate is about 1/3 and survey drop rate is less than that. The survey drop rate is a noticeable nerf this patch (or my RNG just sucks). The flipside is that the surveys do drop more raw mats now. I still think its a net loss, however.

Writs used to be a no-brainer to do. They gave far more than they required (not counting time). The margins are definitely a lot thinner these days. I do 4-6 writs on 7 toons (depending on the day). It is still worth it IMO with the price of gold mats. That being said, if you are only doing one a day, your sample size is pretty small. I could see getting a run of bad RNG and wondering why the hell you are bothering. The more you do, the more even the RNG will be.

Edit: Also, just in case, you only need to make CP150 gear. I knew a guy that thought it had to be 160 and was spending tons of mats on writs for like a month. Haha

The reward from those writs are RNG based. You have a few scenarios which might occur-
    * get a few usually 1/2 intricate items.
    * Get a few usually 1/2 Grand repair kits.
    * Get a survey map for the material lvl of writs.
    * If the above mentioned survey map is not there than you'll get a bag with appx 25 lower level mats which can be of any level.
    * Get 1 temper. And it's appx 33% drop chance so every 3 writs you can expect one.

I did 5 writs ( cloth/ blacksmith/ woodwork/ alchemy/ enchanting) on 7 chrs every day for long time till I got bored. I'd usually end up getting 2/3 tempers of each everyday ( ofc not including alchemy).

So here was my experience...hope it helps...
