Magicka Templar setup for soloing world bosses

I can't get anyone to do open world bosses. Typing "/zone XXX is up" just got a response "so what?" yesterday in Stormhaven

Someone had mentioned that soloing world bosses was "easy" for a Magicka templar but I have to admit I can't seem to get it done. I have been trying in my DPS set (Julianos/WIllpower/Molag/Torag) DW + Staff all gold, 270 cp, armor all divines, 6L 1H. thief stone.

I was thinking of trying going Heavy + Shield and add sustain (like Seducer). Does anyone have some experience on this topic and can offer me some advice. I don't mind crafting (or grinding for) a different set that I can equip for world bosses.

Thanks!

I do it in 5 scathing mage, 5 shoulshine and 2 iceheart with no problem running dw and destro no problem.

It is even easier in 5 kags heavy, 3 willpower skoria and torugs swords but it's not worth swapping bars and skills imo

First off, soloing a world boss is not a min/max dps race. They have too much health for that. Your sustain and survivability are as, if not more, important than your dps. Given time and patience, a tank can solo a WB.

Pair an offensive set with a defensive one. Personally I like and use Desert Rose.

Your main attack will be puncturing sweeps, providing dps and survivable from the heal. Just a matter of managing your magic, backbar restro staff is great for this. Drop a few DoT abilities, and your HoT, finish with RD.

The rest is managing numbers and staying out of the hit range. Kill the NPC guards off first, clear out trash adds quickly, bunch a double boss together for the AoE while focusing one down at a time, and kite triple bosses around obstacles. Don't stand still, circle the boss , hitting as you go and avoid lining up with their hits. If the boss stops for a charge attack, don't interrupt, reapply buffs instead while they're busy.

    I use my vma setup.
    2 kena + 5 julianos + 3willpower and torug dw.
The big part is keeping rune down for regen, and healing ritual + rapid regen down while spamming jabs to deal with dmg. Ive solo IC dist bosses with the setup for months.

If no kena, just make 1-2 pieces of torug armor (kena 1 pc still good to have and easy to get)

Use channeled focus+ Sweeps. This will kill anything given enough time.

But if you want to kill faster, use a rotation of elemental blockade+ extended ritual + reflective light then into Sweeps. I have soloed every world boss I have came across with my CP into healing, as my temp is a healer.

Blazing shield with tremorscale will let you solo any boss with time.

Run heavy. The only thing i have gold is weaps and shield.

I've got julies/rattle/soulshine for dps. I'm typically in my rattle or rattle soul mix these days. I'll go to Julie's if im in a crap pug on a hard vet and I've broken my gear, but honestly they're all pretty close.

Some of my gear is glyphed with mag, but most is still health, actually my rattle and soul is still health, and impen too. ;)

Willpower jewels with damage enchants. Or arcane rattle for the rattle/soul mix.

DW torugs. I'll go a gold glyph weap damage on main hand for 348, and a purp off hand for 320. Heal staff back bar, also weap enchant, but honestly you can put just about anything on it.

If i need a bit more defense ill drop a tourugs shield off hand. Or whatev. Some days in pvp i can crush others i have to defense up a bit, so reactive, trans, s&b, etc..

Monster set, im enjoying groth atm. But again, I'll use malubeth, or skoria if i need range procs, I'll even use chudan and change out rune focus on my bar for a damage spell.

Overworld I'm around 22khp and 32kmag, and 14k ish stam, depending on food choice. Tristat in pvp gets me a bit more boom, but ill use the witches fest. Drink for pve for resources. I end up around 1500 mag regen with the drink. I use cheap mag pots like water.

I drop all my aoes for pve mob content
start with shards and reflective. I'll rush in using toppling, and drop mah house down. ;) (Ritual) for dot and heals at some point groth has procced and if the trash are still kicking ill jab them with sweeps, which i weave in light attacks to proc my weap enchants. Usually i never get to the jabs, trash dies by the time groth procs,

On bosses ill drop nova for that shmexy damage mitigation, and synergy and ill flare till execute mode. Or in the case of solo world nova, dots, jabs till execute.

These is by no means high end vet quality gear or rotation. But i solo everything pretty easy incuding some lighter vet content.

The point being here is it doesn't really matter as long as you're not spending all your time trying to stay alive in light gear.. healing is not dps and light gear bonuses dont stack with death. ;)

This setup isnt great dps, single target is 20k ish at best, I could probably sneak another 5k out of it by refining my rotation and some enchants etc... Obvously group target can be anything... i regularly hit 50k+ once even peaked 72k.

But, the mitigation in heavy gear, passive heals from ritual, and heals from sweeps, means usually only hitting BoL or regeneration to keep others alive. ;)

My cp, is standard dps, bit into mitigation. Nothing special.

That being said, there are a few world bosses that are down right nasty... Most, not so much.

At the moment I'm running Julianos and Seducer (for now until I can get SPC), all divines. 3 willpower. Resto staff, sharpened. Switch to dual wield Torug for more DPS but I find for the most part I don't need it. CP 561 though. For rotation, I use Blazing spear to get the stun and aoe, then I throw down Channeled Focus (for the resistances and magicka return), spam puncturing sweep for the health return, and ultimate and jesus beam as needed. I don't have high DPS (average but not OP) but I can solo the new bosses and Craglorn stuff just fine (aside from shade's tear and sky reach catacombs cuz those are nasty).

When you want to edit the opening post of a thread, the edit cog wheel will be beside the post title, rather than in the post box in the corner like you're used to.

Good luck with soloing world bosses ;) may need to come back here for tips on my Magplar.

Any class can solo world bosses, it doesn't need to be a templar. If anything, a sorcerer is probably easier.

As @driosketch pointed out, it's not a DPS race. As long as your have magicka to cast a shield or a heal, you can survive just about what any boss puts out. Use attack skills that heal and DPS at same time (with templar, that's puncturing sweeps).

The more dangerous "bosses" aren't bosses, but ones with adds. The Troll in Malabar Tor that summon a bunch of hapies for example.
Make Rush of Agony "Monsters only." People should not be consecutively crowd controlled in a PvP setting. Period.

This is good info, thanks! At what point would one be able to begin farming these monster helmets like groth? That's in the coldharbor dungeon correct? Or the other dungeons for that matter?

I suggest to use Shadowrend as monster set. Many underestimate it but constant minor maim debuff on hard-hitting enemy is hilarious thing.

I soloed that Troll before I got off tonight. I was in my PvP gear which is 5xAlchemist, 5xTransmutation, 2xSkoria all gold impen 5 heavy 2 light. I used heavy Destro attacks when it was just the Boss and saved all magic for putting down Channeled focus, Blockade of Elements, Ritual of Retribution, then going into a rotation of Reflective Light, Structured Entropy and spamming Puncturing sweeps when the Harpies came out while making sure the Troll was in the cone of damage with them. Also used a potion of Lingering Health with Devouring Swarm whenever I had it up and there were Harpies out which melted all of them quickly while keeping me at full health.

Using Mother's Sorrow/Grothdar/Willpower. Keep up channeled focus and spam sweeps. So long as you know basic dodge/block mechanics, you should have no problem with most world bosses.
